@bio2020 you are the piece of bullshit because if you ever search up ninja in wikipedia you will see that it said that they originated near the iga region
The Ninjato is the most common name for the Japanese sword that the ninja were thought to have carried. It is often depicted as being a short sword, often portrayed as having a straight blade with a square tsuba. There is no historical evidence of the 'ninjato', and modern depictions of the sword originate from portrayals that were seen in early Hollywood movies.[1] Actual period ninjas used a variety of other weapons.
In this video he shows the use of the Ninjato and by what i can gather of information there is no proof that ninja's used this weapon so the history behind this demo is flawed
Ninjas could have been samurai & they could also have been farmers. it does not take a genius to want to choose stealth over out in the open battle as a safer alternative why do you people think every continent had there own kind of assassins. If you can kill without being seen it seems the smart thing to do....Though the rush would not be the same....i guess the end result is still the same.
i got an idea let the ninjas tell it how it is because if you arent a ninja how the hell would you know? wasnt the whole angle to operate in stealth? if i stole stuff killed people i don't think id go around advertizing my weapon of choice...
Um, you do know that there are still books written by ninja and ninjutsu grandmasters that exist, right? And all of them support the idea of shinobi being samurai in Iga and Koga? But of course, you do know more about shinobi than anyone, so you must've known this.
LOL Ninja never used straight blades, what a load of crap. Ninjas used the same blades as Samurai. Except when they made certain weapons and Shurikens never killed people LOL, Shurikens were used to throw in the face of people and then stick a sword in them, of course if they had poison tips maybe die in a few days etc ;) Ninja performance is for the visitors, History is what people need to read!
Wrong, the ninja were outlaws, they usually couldn't afford a sword like the samurai and didn't have the materials to make one, but if they managed to kill a samurai they would take his sword.
You say that they didn't, why is it that historical books written by ACTUAL NINJA like the Bansenshukai and Shoninki state that shinobi are samurai from Iga and Koga with the skills of spying? And why would a ninja use a sword in a time where curved swords were the style and that straight swords would make you stand out? Explain that, you must be a historian.
your confused let me straightin you out samurai means to serve an ninja serve the people who imploy them there not samurai in the way your thinking there ninja who serve there lords like a secret police in a sense an they werent only spys they were mercenaries ronin + spys they really served whoever paid them the most they were not restricted by honor like the samurai ur thinking of there mentality was do whatev you need to do to carry out your mission
Bushido wasn't a written code til 30 yrs. AFTER samurai died out. Back during the Sengoku jiai, samurai did dishonorable tactics as well. (Ex: Akechi Mitsuhide's betrayal) Anyways, if you read any ninjutsu document such as the Ninpiden or Bansenshukai, it's written that ninja of Iga and Koga were bushi. What does bushi mean? Bushi is a term to refer to a warrior of the samurai class. Don't confuse history from popular culture.
im not samurai didnt use the same tactics ninja did they didnt crush glass an fill it into an egg an dye it black to throw in samurai eyes NINJA WERE NEVER SAMURAI unless under cover an more importantly samurai didnt use ninja tactics cause they thought it would lower themselves fagot
1. It's "faggot", and faggot means a pile of twigs and leaves, great comeback, I'm insulted. (Not.)
2. Give me any source that says that shinobi were never samurai. Bansenshukai and Ninpiden say they were, and those are 2 documents written for the descendants of ninja by actual ninja.
Obviously you have never seen a shinobi-gatana (Ninjato) before... it is a straight blade, and was cheaply made and used to thrust and stab, unlike the katana's nature of slashing. And shuriken were used for defensive purposes for a quick escape, or they were used from the shadows to make the victim think they were attacked by an invisible foe, it worked quite well to cause psychological damage and fear. Also the ninja were often farmers who felt they needed to rebel against the samurai.
the straight blade ninjato never existed in history and ninja werent farmers they were samurai who developed a special set of skills because of the region they lived in
Yes, some samurai went ronin and became ninja, but the first ninja were rebels. Farmers who rose up against the ones in power. And don't try telling me a ninjato didn't exist you fool.
yes they did you fagot the ninjato was a short sword so u wouldnt stand out with it cause you could disguise it as something else or you could carry it under your clothes bitch
a ninjato is any sword MODIFIED from the katana to give them a edge in sword fight by the ninja i said they used short swords because it was a common sword used by them because they put the shortened sword into a average sized shealth so it was faster then a samurais on the draw
That, for the most part, is correct. But any sword used by a ninja is technically a "ninjato", whether it be the wakizashi fitted into katana koshirae or just a katana itself.
Ya multiple strikes to the groin from a weapon that never existed historically and the cheesy sound effect show that this is more for entertainment than an actual history lesson. I mean seriously who wants truth right?
Yeah it was great to watch, and they have a lot more to see there. They got a museum and a tour of a ninja house. Well worth visiting next time your in Japan.

wait. the sword he's holding at 00:41 looks like mine, just shorter. can someone tell me what it is? cuz it looks different from traditional katana

This is the ninja's sword called 'Ninja-to'.
Straighter and shorter than the traditional Katana.
NightUlf 2 years ago
is the sheath pointed for jabbing?
ninjaboy552 2 years ago
Yeah they can use it for that, and many other applications. (Some are demonstrated.)
NightUlf 2 years ago
at 1:14 he demonstrates that it was pointed so that you could drive it into the ground/dirt and use it as a step ladder (as well as other uses)
CobraVerde601 2 years ago
Correction. Ninjato did not exist, historically.
It is actually a Shinobigatana. :)
Just mentioning that,
DoomscytheHarvester 2 years ago
He does call it a ninjato at 1:00...so yeah...
CobraVerde601 2 years ago
Respectfully, he is wrong.
Ninjato is a fictional weapon, however, Shinobigatana did exist.
Now, there may have been Ninjato that has curved blades, but a straight bladed 'Ninjato' as shown in this video is fictional.
DoomscytheHarvester 2 years ago
Why would they lie to the visitors and give them false information about the Ninja?
Yoshimitsu18 2 years ago
It is not so much lying as much as alot of people don't know as much about ninjutsu...
However, lately, more things proving that a straght bladed Ninjato existed have been surfacing. :)
DoomscytheHarvester 2 years ago
ya but in modern times we call it ninjato because they make it different than what it was 400 years ago so it is not a shinobigatana anymore
they upgraded it since then
