the 5970 is a dual gpu on a single pcb, i don't understand why amd keep doing this.

dual pcb with a chip on each would have been much better.

Except engineering a cooling solution would have been a nightmare, and putting them both on one PBC allows them to use an extra mini-controller to divide tasks between the GPUs instead of going through a crossfire connection.

Yeah, I agree, as do lots of of others. But I'm afraid to break it to you, cloud computing is FT inevitable - and that's whether you like it or not. You won't be forced to use it, but as it becomes faster and easier more consumers will naturally choose it. Sure it might never do everything, but it will do enough for most people eventually, and that's the bottom line. Change is inevitable, you better getting used to cloud computing sticking around.

im really intrigued by the chrome os. i think i could use it on a tablet computer maybe but i think a windows type interface is better due to the offline activity. i think if they can get around that issue then they will suceed. however when internet becomes something that is almost everywhere specially with 3g internet then i think the cloud is the way forward

chrome os will work as a second, dual boot os

sony has something like this, you can instantly boot into the internet without having to start up the whole laptop. once again, apple steals from sony

Chrome is made by Google you know. The instant on internet thing on VIAO's is just linux on some flash memory on the board. Quite a lot of newer motherboards have the feature too.

I know google chrome, but the boot up is 'just' linux? I think Dave made it pretty clear that chrome won't be much more than that, just a pumped up browser type os. And since apple os x is just a paid form of linux, i would never refer to it as 'just' linux.

I think it's a good idea for Apple to take their time to put this tablet out on the market. After the rush with the first version of Snow Leopard, they should have learned that its better to wait and make sure it's excellent

The HD5970 is roughly a foot long if I'm not mistaken and yes 10 teraflops is absolutely crazy.
