What was the person that designed the box for this thinking?
Lets keep a hole in the box so we can show the same art that is on the front of the box twice. Bad idea. Why not just finish the art for the entire box
ahhh. Well then i guess that makes sense. I actually had this game for the SMS(US) as well. Its a pretty decent game. FM sounds nice.
I just picked up the Phantasy Star Mark III/SMS totally complete. I guess i'll have to pick up a Japanese SMS at some point and bask in that FM goodness.
@khaosme This game was a nightmare to play imho. Phantasy Star was much better however I did recall a way you could actually get yourself stuck and have to replay the game all over again. Forget what exactly it was, but remember getting stranded on Motovia.
Only thing I can think of is selling the "gas mask" while being in the village surrounded by mist or perhaps selling the Land Rover (not sure if it was the Ice Digger or the Land Rover you couldn't sell.) Although you could use Alis "fly" magic and then get a new of what ever it was you had sold. :p
i think this game was truly ahead of it's time...it is a classic rpg and one of the most innovative ones...it still sparks my interest to this day because it's just fun to play and timeless...a lot of my relatives liked it way back as well...so it's like a family thing.
i think they should just get all the sega and nintendo from the 8 and 16 bit era and put them on 1 or 2 disks and relase them on all consloes for round 50 -100 pound or dollors that would be a good deal for any game getter out there like me
btw that would be 2 disk per box one with the 8 bit and 1 with 16 bit on them or something like that
you can download some of that games for PC, I don't remember where I downloaded Miracle Warriors, and an emulator, but you can search just for "download miracle warriors" or something like that. I hope you find it!
someone should make a game that involves the player to use "real world" maps to travel from point A to B. I remember I had to use it for this game because that little square in game map was just too sickening to use.
@superpcenginegrafx Man Im so sad I dont have that map anymore. It was awesome. As a kid it was so epic having the map all over the floor, having your cave drawings...no fucking itnernet, no fucking wiki. You had to do shit yourself. That was the way to play a game. AND NO FUCKING RADAR...damn even games set in ancient times have radars today.
Always thought this game had much better music than it deserved. It's such a poor game apart from the music, but you do get a large very good looking paper map with the game! Woo!
No. This is the same system. The Japanese Sega Mark III allows you to plug in an FM sound adapter. The redesign which looks indentical to our black SMS has the FM sound chip built in.
Actually, the arcade's soundtrack sounds closer to the PC Engine PSG version. Most people would probably find the MarkIII FM soundtrack superior to both.
MEKA does FM sound. All my videoes so far are recorded from real hardware. I recorded the tracks for this mix off of a MarkIII SMS which has built FM sound.
Also, did the Japanese Master Systam (when it was relea\sed as the MAster System there) have an extra sound chip in it from the Wester release? Theres something about a Yamaha chip that was an option on the Mark III.
Yeah, thats what I have. It looks similar (even has U.S. style packaging), but has a Turbo button or something instead of reset, built-in 3D glasses support and built-in FM sound(and no U.S. style RF port).
The regular Mark III needs the seperate "Sound Source FM" accessory to play FM sound in games.
OMG, I remember picking this up in the late 1980s. A friend and I took us a year to beat this. RPGs was a phenomenon to us back then along with Zelda and Phantasy Star. Knowing about the FM enhancement was stripped from the American Master System -- its a shame , Sega. But I still enjoyed the Master System despite the FM. Sounds great -- Genesis-like !
5th grade WIN!!!! :-)

I just used the only pic I could find at the time. When it was sold new, the window shows the metal figurine and color cloth map that are included.

While Miracle Warriors was ok, it really couldn't touch Phantasy Star.

Definitely a unique RPG but the OST is really good. . .

Miracle Warriors did come with a large beautiful hand drawn world map.
superpcenginegrafx 2 years ago
yeah i know i used it (above). I'm just saying these newer RPgames should employ the same idea. Bring back some of the old methods of gameplay.

Back in the day this game was great. In it's time it was one EPIC game, and one of the best rpgs you could get your hand on.
But it probably won't cater to the tastes of newer generation rpg fans.
Gemquist 2 years ago
Bah "one of the best" ...that's such an insult to Phantasy Star which sort of obliterated many of the 16-bit rpgs btw :p

Don't get me wrong, I loved PS2, 3 and IV... but for some reason I was never really a fan of the original.

i wonder what the MEGA DRIVE is doing- when emulating a MASTER SYSTEM using the TOTOTEK adapter. it can accept japanese modules!
but is it the same FM mode as when the FM extension is attached to a japanese MKIII?
it is a pity they decided to scrap FM (or the older SN76489).

This track...is somewhat addicting. What sort of equipment do you use to record from real hardware, anyway?
OceanBlueKirby 4 years ago
I just line it directly into my PC's onboard sound card.
superpcenginegrafx 4 years ago
Really, is that so? Must've been hard to find the cables needed for all the systems.
OceanBlueKirby 4 years ago
It's a shame that the FM adaprot didn't appear here, then again I guess people didn't care about better sound back then.
But I heard Wonderboy in MonsterLand's improved soundtrack and it's like the arcade's version!!!!

Actually, the arcade's soundtrack sounds closer to the PC Engine PSG version. Most people would probably find the MarkIII FM soundtrack superior to both.

I don't think i've seen the feature on emus...
