Do you happen to know if any of the "How 3D printing Works" diagram and written material is available under an open licence such as Creative Commons? If so is it possible to download anywhere? I think the process is explained really well in that diagram and would be handy when demonstrating my bot to the public at various events as I always get asked "how does this thing work" shortly after "what is it".
I've wanted one of these for some time now. Price is my main hold back. These makerbots have the lowest overall build cost of any 3d printer I've seen yet.
And now you know, first hand, why I thought this was the coolest thing I saw at CES--DIY 3D printing/rapid prototyping on the cheap. Granted, the result isn't as nice as photopolymer-based systems... but the cost of the MakerBot system makes it very attractive.
@CyberDruidtheModGod It has use for small household things that could be replaced. I remember reading about these guys in Maximum PC a couple of months ago and then last week they had the creator on the Colbert Report.

@PTPetra Yep, it's not ready for prime time but for fooling around and making stuff it would be a lot of fun.
