And this is what the idiot government wants to start doing over the entire Big Island of Hawai'i-- fly from the north shore to the southern tip at 300 (yeah, 300) feet for some screwy training program. Do they think those of us living there are deaf & won't be impacted??? Just totally crazy.

Tell ya what crazedmachine, you come live where they'll fly C17's over your house at 300 ft. This isn't by some airport or in an existing noise cone. They want to fly over land on the island where people have lived for generations. Never mind they've already bombed out an entire island in the chain that will never be inhabitable again. Why can't they just continue to use that site instead of destroying yet another island??
I will thouroughly enjoy it actually. Considering I live for airpower and I hope to be flying these things :)Actually I have F15's flyin' over my house from Mtn. Home AFB and I have regular aircraft traffic flyin' in to Boise. So its all good just chill.
Americas say low pass for that...
Polish say low pass for THAT!

That was low? Try living at the end of a runway of Americas biggest air force base, then tell me whats low.

@Stealth496 That was 500ft AGL as low as they can normally go when they are not on a charted procedure or landing

sermerlin1 6 months ago
that is probably 1000 feet AGL, i think that is the minimum distance above the ground they can go at airshows, or flyovers etc.

I saw one at the Watsonville Fly-In airshow in Cali today, and it was amazing. The stopping distance on this plane is astounding.

@LongRangeBullet From wheels on ground to complete stop then moving backwards in 11 or 12 seconds!

@Squirrel9901 I was actually in a c-17 near 90 degress in a decending profile during testing....amazing what these planes can do.
mikefly562 1 year ago
@mikefly562 I wouldnt be surprised if it was 90 degrees, I was on an angle to the runway so it might have been

it's called a training mission for a reason genius. i'm glad someone's off their ass training for us instead of complaining
