I got this Pocket PC a week ago. I am so glad I bought it. It is exactly what I thought it would be. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any Ipaq gurus like myself demo it. If you like Ipaqs and you need a cell phone, this device is the way to go. Makes the Treo and Blackberry look like exactly what they are - CELL PHONES and only cell phones. With my Ipaq I don't need Internet Service to use internet. BOOOYA!
I got this device too. I'm happy about everything it does, except video playback performance is laggy. I suppose I'm used to the 624MHz Intel based Dell Axim x50v with accelerated graphics and 640x480 screen. I like everything else about this device.
HP really baffles me by continuing to manufacture touchscreen phones with recessed screen. Apart from that the gruesome WM interface and the tiny physical screen really scares me away.
just so confused right now. This phone or nokia E71? price is not a concern, they almost have the same anyway. which is better of the 2, ill use it on email, messnger such as yahoo, skype, google, etc and office docs.thank you
The device actually sports QVGA resolution, but since it's displayed on a 2.4 inch screen, the improved pixel density does give you a sense of being much sharper than a typical 2.8 QVGA screen.
this is not iPhone and is not intended for Apple users either. This is a business class system, not for entertainment. iPhone is iPhone and PocketPC is a PocketPC.
I've tested VGA video on VGA screened devices and all render poorly. My best advice would be, if you have a VGA device, use QVGA video. Sadly, with the case of this iPAQ, SPB Mobile DVD has no smaller resolution to use on this screen.
yes, my old Axim x50v with CorePlayer and even the free TCMP could play 640*480 videos. I managed to play 720p mkv files with softsubs. it dropped some frames, but still managed to down scale it and show it. I found this iPAQ to be not as good as Axim with video tho. it works, but gets choppy here and there. I use CorePlayer to play DivX and other type videos that I watch on my desktop too. They work ok.
good afternoon I need your help whats the diferences between Hp ipaq 914c and hp ipaq 910c, thanks a lot

I mean "cellular" service. You don't need it to use internet.

Ya the video playback isn't the best and it eats battery power. Otherwise this device is perfect. I added a 16GB Micro SD card and now I'm rockin!

i find these phone good
but im wondering about its durability. is it as solid looking as an e71? is the software stable?
dreyfussfury 3 years ago
I have one, it's very stable. For video playback you got to get CorePlayer, because Windows Media simply doesn't cut it.
It feels pretty durable. Get the accidental damage warranty form HP website.

Hmm maybe it lags because of the VGA screen. Thank god my Omnia has a QVGA screen. I just dump my divx 700mb movies in and it plays.. fine.
i wouldn't be able to stand the lag here but i would love to have that lovely keyboard.

thats just on the crappy windows media mobile it would most likely play better in tcmp
DJx79x 3 years ago
I feel the same way, but HP should consider adding that better solution out of the box.
pocketnowvideo 3 years ago
Definitely. Or CorePlayer. WM should make those the default players like Palm did with PocketTunes

Is there a PDA that can play up to 640*480?
