i have two of these same xplods. i have had alot of subs but i like these the best, good quality and a great sound, i have a 1600 watt amp powering mine
tbh i feel that Sony XPlods are underrated....all of them that ive heard have sounded pretty good....i mean sure....its still a cheap thing and it isnt an MTX, RF or Kicker....but for the price of them im they alright

@shaochiavang Fosgate is great, but my problem with them is that they are too big and because of that are also too expensive. there are amps out there that perform the EXACT same or even better, but for a lower price. in the end it all comes down to the overall install. if you use the wrong shit, it'll sound like shit. plain and simple.

You know these Xplod's do fairly decent if they are hooked up properly, I had 2 of the old school 12" ones, they were pushin 800 Watts a piece, and on 1000 Watt amp, they didn't sound to bad.. but my car was early 90's and stock everything, and hooked up poorly.. Bu they weren't to bad.

You can't blow subs from not enough power. That's a ridiculous statement. Because if they did blow with not enough power, everyone would be blowing their subs when they turn the volume down.
The only reason you damage subs from too little power is because you have the gain too high and you're causing the subs to distort. They don't blow because they "don't have enough power".
You can quite easily blow a sub with too much power. It might not look like you're damaging the sub, but in reality all that power is just burning up the voice coils. Go run a true 1500 continuous watts to a sony xplod and I guarantee it won't last long.
They are really good, but expensive. Go to Ultimate electronics and play with the different Type and look at the box sizes to see which you like best.
Actually when I had these two Sony's same as in the video, running each at its max rms and 900max each, since my amp was a 1800watt, they never blew, could run for hours at max on car rides up north. I find them very nice with proper break-in, and can't beat the price. I will say that alpine and mtx seem to sound for solid and precise with bass.
Not much, 2 Sony's 12" cost only $150 when I got them from Walmart. Actually they were 1300watts, sold to friend just asked him again. They were at their RMS. The Amp was a Visonik 1800 Amp, I got from Walmart for $50, since they couldn't sell it anymore. It kicked ass, wish I kept it. Hate all you want, but that system owned. Matched two 15" P1's at their max. Of course mine didn't sound as awesome, but close.
its all about the RMS dont worry about the subs peak power those subs are prob maybe...400RMS each cos i have two 1000W 12 xplods and they are 300 each which is low but enough for my needs so find the amp that can power whatever they subs rms is such as i have 2000W powered by a 5500W 5channel but on a single 1500W output so mine are powering at about..500Rms at 1500W so im underpowered but they still hit as soon as i put each sub on its own 1000W channel itl hit harder :)

Ok. Any high end sub, from any high end brand (including Sony...) is going to sound good. Now, the Sonys may (and do) sound worse than most the other high end subs possibly, but it's still a high end sub and will have great sound quality. Sony's are not the end of the world, just not optimal.
i got 2 sony 12" P5s they beat prety good i just got a alpine type R 10 so all 3 are being put in my car this up comin week when i build the box. i dont like sony but it hits good enough for the price u get what u pay for i guess

its not just the subs u guys it also starts with the songs quality head unit then amp including the wiring used for it then theres the subs box u can make a box better then stored because its bigger the main point im trying to make u can make crap sound realy good with these qualitys explodes dont suck u guys are just to stupid to know how to make them good

Ok. Any high end sub, from any high end brand (including Sony...) is going to sound good. Now, the Sonys may (and do) sound worse than most the other high end subs possibly, but it's still a high end sub and will have great sound quality. Sony's are not the end of the world, just not optimal.

i got 2 sony 12" P5s they beat prety good i just got a alpine type R 10 so all 3 are being put in my car this up comin week when i build the box. i dont like sony but it hits good enough for the price u get what u pay for i guess

yo on the real sony doesnt do shit for subs this vid makes em look better then they are i'd suggest goin with kicker mtx kenwoods rockfords and alpines those are some well known brands for those who dont know much bout subs sony's are a lil less then decent if you know what i mean....alpine type r's will do the trick plus you can get em at bestbuy or somethin...
