Why isn't offline mode already in the PS3? It is newer than the xbox, but somehow so much less useful (apart from blu-ray disc reading).

but honestly a few online features is nothing i would ever pay $60 a year for.

party chat is nice viewing friends friend lists is nice inviting players who arent your friends is nice but really party chat is the only legitimately useful one and even that isnt really needed. all games support in game chat anyway
