As will Hex, this ride is also blatantly overhyped and overmarketed. I guess it is for those that just don't get around and out much. My family still ranks Hex as "THEE" most lame amusement park "ride" EVER! It is a laughable moment whenever the topic comes up. Th13teen seems right in that same vein.

I think this ride gets too much stick because it was hyped up to be terrifying when it really wasn't. I loved it. I thought it was really fun and a good ride for thrill seeking kids. No, it's not the utterly terrifying, adrenaline filled rush people expected it to be. But it's still a great, original, fun ride. If you want thrills, there's always Nemesis/Oblivion/Rita for that.

It is not overated, it is compltely mismarketed.

The problem is when you tout it as the ultimate rollercoaster, it brings up expecations that it cannot deliver on. This coaster gives you a different type of experaince, and its a good one, but it fails on many aspects that other coasters will deliver.

some of my friends and i went to alton towers, and my friends went straight to the dark forest. i had seen a few videos of this ride before hand decided it was was crap. now me being a big fan of speed and accelaration, i persuaded them all to go on rita. it was incredible!! after that they went on th13teen whilst i queued up to go on the front seats of rita. even more incredible!! then my friends showed up looking grumpy. they said th13teen was shit and some how decided it was all my fault...!

The rollercoaster at Crealy adventure park in Exeter for kids is actually better. So not worth 60 minute plus queue time. Why go on that when oblivion had a 10 min waiting time all day and was infinitely better. These rollercoaster enthusiasts obviously haven't been on the other rides at Alton Towers.

I still can't see how it is the "ultimate" rollercoaster...all it does is go round a track enters a "crypt", drops then goes backwards....i've been on it and it was fun but i wouldn't call it the "ultimate" rollercoaster...worth a go on though if you get the chance!
