It's ironic to hear Howard complain about Jackie just leaving the show - a couple years later, Howard packed everything up and moved to Sirius for exactly what Jackie wanted: MORE MONEY. I don't buy that he was persecuted by the FCC, he simply wanted a new $250 million contract.

More like Howard's station blew it. The show sucked since he left. It was good for a while with Artie when he was young and healthy because he was funnier... now the show is just a mess and the only time that its funny is when Sal does something crazy or when they talk about how good the show used to be.
For me the show was the best when it was Howard, Robin, Fred, Jackie and Billy West. Just them doing the news was hilarious in itself let alone the rest of the show.
I still love the Stern show, but Jackie leaving was a big blow to the show in my honest opinion. Jackie offered a different on the fly joke writing style than Benjy, and you can tell. Howard just doesn't get involved as much as he used to.
But, I'll be a Stern fan to the very end either way.

I just think, as do most stern Show fans that the comedic chemistry was SO much better in the days with Jackie. Not only that, but as witty as Howard is on his own, Jackie contributed so much to the show in terms of writing, skits, his laugh(!) that Howard owes a big debt to Jackie for making the Show as successfull as it is today.

Truth be told, Stern was making 20 TIMES what Jackie was asking for, yet was responsible for most of Jewboy's success. The "Howard Stern Show" was in name only. The more appropriate title should have been "The Jackie Martling Show with Howard Stern".

I honestly never had an opinion on Jackie. I didn't think his jokes were funny and he certainly didn't add much to the show. That being said, I fuckin hate pyscho Artie Lange. Towards the end of Jackie's tenure, there was so much animosity on that show, it was ridiculous. The tension between Jackie & Robin was legendary, not to mention Howard's constant imitations of Jackie, which were PHENOMINAL!

It's ironic to hear Howard complain about Jackie just leaving the show - a couple years later, Howard packed everything up and moved to Sirius for exactly what Jackie wanted: MORE MONEY. I don't buy that he was persecuted by the FCC, he simply wanted a new $250 million contract.

It was good for a while with Artie when he was young and healthy because he was funnier... now the show is just a mess and the only time that its funny is when Sal does something crazy or when they talk about how good the show used to be.

I still love the Stern show, but Jackie leaving was a big blow to the show in my honest opinion. Jackie offered a different on the fly joke writing style than Benjy, and you can tell. Howard just doesn't get involved as much as he used to.
But, I'll be a Stern fan to the very end either way.

I TOTALLY agree. Artie as a comedian is funny, so I'm not saying this because I'm am "Artie Hater". I just think, as do most stern Show fans that the comedic chemistry was SO much better in the days with Jackie. Not only that, but as witty as Howard is on his own, Jackie contributed so much to the show in terms of writing, skits, his laugh(!) that Howard owes a big debt to Jackie for making the Show as successfull as it is today.
