  • The "I think you very much" comes out of nowhere, it's like a splash of cold water. It's awesome!

  • SAN DIEGO STATE YEAYUAHH

  • No... I thank you very much Dr. Deceit (I know that's not your real last name but it sounds cool) :D

  • those are crypts of lieberkuhn, not gastric pits, and yes the enterocytes of the colon also have a striated/brush border of apical microvilli

  • @ASwordUpYourAss Can also call them intestinal crypts.

  • And I Thank you very much :)

    gets me every video

  • sir, you said "gastric pits" instead of crypts of lieberkuhn at 2:32!

  • @MuhammadTalhaQureshi that's cuz they're normally found in small intestine.

  • The histological difference btw the SI and the LI-->No paneth cells ,plica(circular folds) or villi in the large intestine.

  • thanks a lot! I study medicine in Poland, and thar really helps me in studing, cherio

  • you, sir, are a god send.

  • Thanks a lot washingtondeceit. I have hated histology and path for most of my medical training (6 years) until seeing these video tutorials! It's so much better than sitting, staring at bland words and pictures in a fat textbook!

  • Thank you.

I hope people watching this video can also add stuff that is relevant to the slides to enrich the information available to describe the histology of colon (or any other structures)

    I will do my part:

The stain used is eosin - pink colour highlighting cytoplasm and collagen.

Submucosal plexus only got parasympathetic, also known as Meissner's plexus

Myenteric plexus = Auerbach's plexus, containing para and symp fibers

  • awesome!.....wdc

  • @neptunehaixing awesome, i was just gonna ask about the staining :) ty both!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this on YouTube!! You simplified this material more than any textbook. I agree with the above statement - you DO deserve the nobel prize!

  • I did a quick search for "histology colon" in response to a question on tumor staging. For those of you moving in the other direction, wondering about the pathology of the colon, here's the T of TNM:

    T0: no evidence of CA

    Tis: carcinoma in situ

    T1: invades submucosa

    T2: invades muscularis propria

T3: through the mp into subserosa or nonperitonealized pericolic/perirectal tissues

T4: organ/tissue invasion or perforates the visceral peritoneum of specimen

  • Thanks so much for this!

  • THANKS for the demonstration about the myenteric and submucosal plexuses. :). many hours of poundring for me... but you broke it down in seconds. again. tnx

  • Does colon contain brush border?

  • classically, no

only small intestine and proximal renal tubules

  • I thank you kindly, Doctor.

  • thanks for the video

  • thank you sir.

  • Thanks you for sharing your treasure. You should be given nobel prize for not being greedy and sharing all this.

    Azwer

  • Thank you!!

  • i thank YOU very much!
