Laffer said that taxes are what the government SPENDS not what it collects. By that standard George the Lesser raised taxes more than any president since Ronald Reagan (who by the way doubled payroll taxes and still managed to nearly TRIPLE the national debt). Folks want to keep highways, dams, and their Medicare. Someone has to "man up" and start paying the bills and taxes are the way. The health care plan is whatever Obama says it is on the day that he says it. Medicare and Social Security are smaller government programs than a full takeover of health care and both are about to go bankrupt. Health care will not improve that situation. Barack promised us that he would fix EVERYTHING when he campaigned. He's failed to deliver anything. Bush did not destroy the economy alone. A liberal congress wreaked havoc on mortgages, Weak regulation of wall street and a war did the rest.

Today's problems are Obama and the ascendant leftists are unique to our era. Obama's stimulus bill will push the US even farther into debt. Reagan had to take office during an even worse recession than we have now. Actually, cutting taxes does not decrease government revenue but increases it. This is another lesson from the Reagan administration. The government began making more money after the tax cuts then they were before. How did they? Well, for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is because people had more money in their pockets. More money in their pockets allowed them to go out and shop and buy "toys" more. The more people buy, the better the economy and greater government revenue.

Oh and no matter what Republicans or Democrats do, we can NEVER get out of debt. If you look at all of out debt... State and Federal Debt.... it is trillions of dollars more that what even exists. To try and fix this, the Obama Administration is printing money out the wazoo.... but this won't do anything but devalue the dollar. Devaluing the dollar will put us in a worse predicament than we are now of being in debt more than what even exists.

That's the main point we disagree on. The federal reserve and federal government is going beyond the powers granted them in the Constitution. The Constitution says that if something is not explicitly spelled out in the Constitution as a power of the Federal Government then it is left up to each State. Most of the powers that the Federal Government has had for years is unconstitutional. And this is one reason why the Founders put in it that the People could overthrow it if it exceeded its power.
