Here's my take on Dwan. Very intelligent controlled player; however, extremely overaggressive. He's definitely a player that knows how to loosen up a table, and a lot of the time it works to his favor, when he does have hands. That being said, i think he's the best player in world right now, because the best players are the most aggressive ones. However, given how aggressive he is, his style will eventually bite him in the ass once he hits a real losing streak, since he does not have the (cont.)

By the same logic, you can't rebuy into most tournaments, so when he goes bust, instead of buying back in and using his loose table image to turn his loss into a very large profit, he's just out, which is why i doubt he'll ever win a Bracelet. Especially as the latter stages come, the pros are patient enough to take his money when they have the nuts, and not lose so much when Dwan has the nuts. Possibly Dwan will learn to slow down in tournaments, then we'll see how he does against the pros

You make a good point, he has done well in tournaments though, check his results on hendon mob, just type in tom dwan results in google and check it out. he made two wsop final tables and 2 wpt final tables. Hes made 1,000,099 million in just over a year, which is very good. But ur point is very valid, this is why he is such a good cash game player.

The reason Dwan gets paid off a lot in cash games is the same reason he will never EVER be a good tournament player. He plays such a wide variety of starting hands and bluffs so often, that when, say, a flop comes 6 6 Q and a player with A Q invests lots of money into the pot knowing dwans loose play. Dwan then turns over Q 6 and gets called lucky as Q 6 was the masssive underdog. As he has beenlucky this hand, he's played many hands in order to wait and make a killing every time this comes up.

Anyone entering a 500+ entry tournament, and using those wins as "PROOF" of poker skill, is forgetting one thing.

Playing cash games, especially headsup, when you know you are better than your opponents (and stop playing or choose a new table when you DON'T) is the ONLY Correct Poker -- investing when you have an edge, and passing when you don't.

Tournaments always end up as lotteries, if not the final table, then at least the final 4 or so. Cash Games FTW!
