It maybe their fault too for buying stolen artifacts, but ultimately the responsibility of protecting Khmer artifacts are the Khmers. Its as if I paid you to steal your mom's jewels to give to me. Who fault was it for stealing? These Cambodians see these artifacts as just stones, they don't know how valuble they are.
As for that popular arguement that the Thais steals our culture. In this video they gladly admit these artifacts are from Angkor, they get more money for it if it were from there.
explain traditional khmer dancing, you know how the dancers are really flexible? why does thai traditional dancing look exactly the same, but with nails?
explain bokator, why is muy thai look the same?
explain our language, why is thai look so similar to khmer?
Regarding this old arguement, I don't give a damn about the similarity of our culture with the Thais. I don't have time to argue geography, asimilation of cultures, or where the hell Muay Thai came from. I believe as you do on these matters. I'm not gonna loose sleep just because a Thai won't acknowledge his culture came from somewhere else. My point is, as long as you hold dear to what you believe thats enough.
Yeah don't put the blame on them, but blame the Thais huh? I'm not bashing poor people, I understand what it is to be hungry, believe me. When someones broke they do what they can to survive. But some people make it sound as if Khmers are totally innocent from looted artifacts. Its an insult to the Khmer people by saying that they aren't capable of owning up to that responsiblity.
