  • was this made by humans?

  • @BurzumBelus09

Agreed. This album will never be noteworthy, I will always prefer to listen to the originals than these.

  • I have only one word to describe this release:

    Perfection!

  • no need for re-recordings, the originals cannot be surpassed now after all this time

  • This is everything that we could ask of these songs. Much better to listen to since now the quality is improved.

  • the crying orc is a major must!!!!

  • я больше привык к тру блэк металу, и качество не признаю... не зачёт=\

  • re-recorded and still full of clipping... congrats

  • This is it.

  • I personally thought the vocals and guitars sounded very synthetic. I think re recordings should add to what the originals had. These add nothing.

  • Good stuff as these tracks he chose to re-record are amongst my all-time favourites! Haters gonna hate!

  • all hail burzum

  • Great remake; only few can do it with style. All hail Varg!

  • after hearing a snapshot of the first few tracks i was about to write this off as some one dimensional black metal shit, trading on past glories.... call me a connoisseur from afar but i've had a novelty like interest in varg for a while.... i spose what i'm trying to say is the be some pure BM shit right here... can't say i wasn't totally givin this the horns up at my computer!! Go you racist looney nutbag!!!

  • That is great! And still Burzum.

    Hail!

  • In fact i'm against rerecordings, but this sounds amazing !! For the rest no words...only music !!!!

  • Wish he would have thrown "The Crying Orc" in the mix!!!! It would have been cool to hear a redone and extended version of that song. Simple as it is, that riff is one of the most melodic and emotional riffs I have ever heard.

  • I'm already preferring this over the originals. His vocals don't sound like he is being raped with a hot iron dildo.

  • Sounds like shit, nothing new there though.

  • Sounds great! I don't care if Varg re-recorded these songs, it's more classic Burzum, from a different angle. I'll be getting it. The originals were great and this sounds cool too. Great artwork too!

  • I guess Varg is short on money?

  • It's really necessary?

  • man, im so disheartened that Power Of Souls is not re-made on keyboard. I am so sad that he is sick of playing keys. hope he gets back to it.

  • Is he going to play live someday?

  • Varg should rerecord "Et Hvitt Lys Over Skogen", one of the best music of Burzum, but unfortunately is in a bad quality.

  • @Lucozzy666 agreed!

  • Where did you get this?

  • Vocals finally sounds like black metal vocals. Varg is back!

  • In my opinnion this beats the shit out of the new albums but still can't reach the same feeling as the original tracks.

  • In the name of God, let the churches burn

  • In the name of God let the Churches burn

  • i cannot wait.

  • I will buy this album!

    14!

  • some goods, some bads...

  • LOL @ "The CUMMING"

  • cool. look forward to it.

  • awesome but i prefer the purposely shitty recording of the originals made it sound strangely better, different and unique

  • woow this is gonna be a freaking classic album!!!

  • this is PURE NORWEIGN BLACK METAL!!

  • If you dont like it, then dont buy it!! (But well I suppose you will download it and then talk shit about it, even thou you got it for free!) FUCK YOU!!!

  • this sounds fkng awesome!! BURZUM!!!

  • NSBM is awesome, so get fucked. Also these are going to rule.

  • jewdasim sucks but also ns and nsbm sucks

  • Whoever is bitching about this new compilation, shut the fuck up! He felt like he wanted to re-record them again, artists sometimes do that. Stop fucking criticizing like little pussies. Atleast he's doing something, what the fuck have you done?

  • @ElGuayoteo your justification is retarded. i dont have an opinion on this subject, in fact im kind of excited to hear rerecorded oldschool burzum. but the "hes got an album out and you dont" argument? really? ok, well justin bieber has some music out too. guess hes better than everyone. let the faggots criticize.

  • IMO, "Key to the gate" sounds promising, "Chanelling the power of souls into a new god" was ruined, the others will need a better listen...

  • Only Varg can be better than Burzum. This is such a great example of the above. Although these songs were re-recorded, they still keep the sound of what they were meant to represent, express and transmit in the very beginning. Hail Varg!!

  • @DerAnstifter You my friend are and idiot Varg is Burzum.

  • @mk2vrjet Do you really think I DON'T KNOW VARG IS BURZUM? I've been into the Varg's world since 1996. What I said was rhaethorical, dumbass!!

  • Where did you take these samples from?

  • Burzum not is nsbm!

  • @Snt090 Might not be NSBM, but NS followers will follow Burzum because of Odalism. Just as Jewish are not christians, but christians do read the Old Testament.

  • Varg said: "The natural and best music is (as I see it) music with "soul", and not music that has been polished for months in a studio to remove even the tiniest mistakes (peculiarities)." And then he is doing a re-recording of his old songs, two-faced fucking moneysucking cunt of a dirty whore.

  • @wormsinfestedfetus "From the Depths of Darkness was recorded and decided to be released because I always meant that the original recordings didn't do justice to the music, and I wanted to hear the tracks as they were intended by me back in 1991 and 1992, when these tracks were made, and to share this with those interested." Varg

  • @wormsinfestedfetus

This doesn't sound overly polished to me. It also doesn't have his old vocals that sound like someone performed acupuncture on his nuts with rail spikes.

  • I think that the sound of Det Som Engang Var was perfect already in 1993...I loved the album since the first note and also the particoular sound of the production. This new re-recordings sound like cover for me,but I love Burzum's music and I will buy this album. However, the 1993 album is better.(The same thing is true for "Burzum" album of 1992).Oh,another thing, this prouction is more heavier that the new Burzum's release and I like that he is playing is real soul, his pure form of Black Metal.

  • Nice intros, but where the fuck are Lost Wisdom, War & Crying Orc?

  • He could atleast have used real drums...

  • @Nidarisk lol

  • Those introductions sound like Burzum is turning Death Metal O_o

And yes - the old songs are kick ass!

  • Although I've been critical to Burzum's "Fallen" - I must say that this album ("From the Depths of Darkness") sounds promising. In other words; I like that preview.

  • @TwoCrownsPath but it is not a new album...it's a re-recording of old material.....

  • @xyqk

That I realize, thank you for the information.

  • reborn

  • Anyone who expects Vag to succeed at catching the magic of early Burzum after all these years of sodomy and confinement is asking to be let down. It's not gonna happen. Why not just listen to the original albums, which still sound amazing. This whole re-recording business is a waste of time. If you must hear it, at least take the trouble of acquiring mp3s instead of buying the album like a good little black metal lemming

  • Sounds good.

  • Lol @ Vag Vikernes taking a cue from Dimmu Borgir by re-recording his old / good material

  • @misterbilbotbaggins he's not 'taking a cue' from anyone...he;s always said how shit the production of the forst two albums was, unintentionally it seems unlike on Filosofem...Dimmu Borgir's stormblast on the other hand sounded fine, so have no idea why they chose to remake it with a boring Peter Tagtren production...

  • @SROCeallaigh Burzum, DSEV, HLTO also sound fine

  • @SROCeallaigh though since you brought it up, there is ONE early black metal album I'd love to see re-recorded: IN THE NIGHTSIDE ECLIPSE. Brilliant music, but the production is absolute garbage, it sounds like you're listening with shitty $2 speakers no matter how good your audio is.

  • @misterbilbotbaggins Yes, Hvis...sounds perfect in every way, I do think that Det Som...sounds pretty naff though...As for Emperor I feel the opposite way about it, the production, though technically awful, sounds perfect for me...it just sounds so incredibly grim, cold and nocturnal, the murky, very unpolished production just adds so much to the atmosphere...the production on det som, on the other hand isn't atmospheric bad production in my view, just bad production...

  • @SROCeallaigh the problem is that the original albums (Burzum album) has always be underrated, at least compared to Filosofem and others. Nobody is even talking about his first album. He probably knows that and want to correct it by re-recording those songs and presenting them in new way, so it could get attention it deserves.

  • @14NSBM88 dude, burzum's first album is by far his best work.Listen to it again, really listen and take it all inn.It really is one of the greatest,in my opinion though hehe

  • @14NSBM88 probably a good point there, people always go on about filosofem especially as well as Hvis as the first ambient black metal and 'depressive black metal'...those two probably are my favourites though, especially Hvis

  • @misterbilbotbaggins I don't know, for me Emperor lost their ferocity after Nightside, which isn't to say I don't like some of the later stuff, but it's just not as...primal. I'm afraid better production would ruin it.

  • @geemarcus The problem I have with the production is not that it's primitive or dirty, just that it, well, kinda sounds like ass. The guitar tone is way too thin and can barely even be heard over the keyboards, vocals and drums. Maybe it was just mixed badly? Out of all of the early Norwegian recordings, that's the only one where the production bugs me. Listening to the record gives me a headache at times. The non-remastered version actually sounds a lot better, though it's still fairly bad

  • @misterbilbotbaggins You may have a point about the guitar...but at least the production is better than on the demos/splits. I don't think better production helped with Welkin or later albums. Honestly even the live versions of Nightside tracks on Live Inferno don't have the ferocity of the original versions. Nightside (and the earlier recordings) sound like an assault...the playing is just so aggressive.

  • @geemarcus I agree with you about later Emperor. It's not bad but ITNE had some magic that they never regained on the later records... production, musicianship, sexual orientation of members etc notwithstanding. It had all the raw honesty and brutality of underground metal with along with the most refined composition and rarified moods that you would expect to find in classical. I agree that live performances also failed to live up to that album, so a re-recording would probably also disappoint

  • He could atleast used real drums...

  • tbh this sounds much better than what I expected when I saw he was remaking them, but they are still on no comparison to the original true tracks.

  • "the way Varg orignally intended." where is the "necrosound"?

  • @Hvslysttrss it still has the sound, the ''Necrosound'' is still there....

Theres a difference between the low budget recording/equipment and undecipherable shit..

Which Remastering CAN take care of SOME of the time with some bands, IE early Behemoth is a perfect example.

  • Cmmon varg :( stop trolling us and just post a goddamn album.

  • @0om8 the last one only came out this year, so be grateful you even get this so soon after Fallen

  • Miss so much the old vocals!!!! "Spell of destruction" without the old vocals, what a disaster :'(

  • @kulde it sounds fine...stop judging a book by its cover and wait for the full album to be released...some of the tracks on the first album just won't sound anywhere as good or powerful without inhuman shrieks though, so would be interesting to see how he handles it...he sounds pretty inhuman on Vanvidd on Fallen, don't forget...

  • @SROCeallaigh Not for me. I judge by the first version and these samples. it is clear there is no atmosphere, no feelings anymore that emanates as it was on the old albums.

I like Belus, not Fallen and for me it is a mistake to re-record old songs, there is no longer the same spirit, the same freshness, the same effect.

I'll buy it but I do know that I will be disappointed....

  • @kulde I know I will be disappointed in the versions of the first album's tracks, I actually like the sound of the first album, I really don't think it needs re-recording...Det Som Engang Var has a pretty rubbish production though...shame he has not included more tracks from that and the great Stemmen Fra Gaarnet track on Aske that just cuts out at the end...

  • I think these snippets sound pretty decent though, but think I'll wait to hear the whole thing before I bother buying...I get the feeling that spell of destruction especially is going to be a big let down...I just love the screams and the bass at the end of that...

  • surprisingly good. A move away from the original minimalism. Actually liked the vocals on "A lost Forgotten Sad Spirit"(2:37). Not so much on the tracks from the album "Det som engang var" but then again I never really liked those. A guitar version of "Channeling the Power of Souls(now minds) in to a new God", Awesome.

  • love burzum

  • Chaneling power of the minds into a new god ♥

  • Where are the old vocals? The sound totally different here.

  • @TNFx this is re-recording, the vocals sound like the Burzum vocals on Belus & Fallen
