Yes, propitiation was made for every human soul in the world by the finished work of Christ. But NOT ALL will go to heaven because those who reject His atoning sacrifice will be forever damned to the lake of fire. (1 John 2:2) And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world. (KJV)
@sermonindex I agree comments that are evil should be deleted. Here is something to ponder... If Paul Washer is preaching the truth then how come he doesn't believe in what 1 John 2:2 actually says? You disable comments on your videos, but if Paul Washer believes in limited atonement then is it right for you to NOT allow comments when the refutation is the truth of the Scriptures? 1 John 2:2 completely shreds limited atonement. How can you continue to post Paul Washer material now that you know?
@ishellreal John's original audience might disagree with your exegesis of 1 John 2:2. It doesn't fit with the rest of scripture. 1 John 2:2 is not that cut and dry if you take out tradition and stick to scripture. See Johannine work with the same structure. "he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, [52] and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad."(John 11:51-52 ESV)
1 John 2:2 is often mishandled just like John 3:16
@Tubewatcher52 Yeah I agree people do often mishandle Scripture especially the plain reading of it when compared to the doctrine of Calvinism they so dearly hang onto.
@ishellreal I agree somewhat, but we must not "plainly read" with our 20th century ignorance. We must properly handle the text by answering questions like who was the the original audience, context of the writing, rituals of the day, and agreement with other scripture. I think limited atonement is misunderstood by most and may be bad terminology -particular redemption might be more suitable. Ask yourself -was Christ's atonement for the Pharisees, Pilate, Judas, scoffers, and those in hell?
@ishellreal What John said is JESUS did not die for you all only (in Ephesus his audience), but for all the believers scattered abroad. JESUS did not die for the unbelievers as they still have the wrath of GOD. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."
@ishellreal ... for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,
(Revelation 5:9)
JESUS is not a ransom for EVERYONE from every tribe and nation. "I lay down my life for the sheep. [16] And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd."
@ishellreal I answered your question already. What John actually said is JESUS did not die for you all only (in Ephesus his audience), but for all the believers scattered abroad.
I don't understand what GOD you are trying to create. You cannot cherry pick one verse taken out of context and ignore the rest of the Bible.
BTW you never answered my question before your question.
Was Christ's atonement meant for the Pharisees, Pilate, Judas, Pharoah, the scoffers, and those in hell?
Wow! Love this teaching. Reminds me of how the Apostles taught. When John the Revelator in speaks of the Church of Ephesus he says the stars were in His Hand! GOD controlled ministry. This reminds me of GOD controlled ministry. No fear, just truth at all cost!! I love his teachings.
(John 3:5 KJV) "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
(John 3:6 KJV) "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
(John 3:7 KJV) "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND SPIRIT IS ADHERENCE AND OBEDIENCE TO ACTS 2:38 , AGAIN PETER IN ACTS10:44-48, AND PAUL ACTS 19:1-6
Truth of the scripture is preached. Thank you Father for spreading your precious Gospel through this man, who is just a man. But You O Lord are an awesome God. All of Your judgments are just and true. I pleases You to reveal it to whom You will. And You hide it from whom You will. Glory Amen.
if what you say does not line up with 2,000 years of christian history its incorrect because like spurgeon and macarthur said truth is not new and if its new its not truth
The one who dies on the tree must be God? Jesus is God but God did not die on the cross only Jesus as man.Paul before being critical get your own theology straight.
He who condemns the righteous It is what Paul does for a living. You don 't understand the problem of course you don't look at society? Anyone hear his condemnation calling his sheep ignorant and worldly.Who says the gospel isn't preached anymore?Who says the gospel is anemic? This is real demeaning to those who preah.Paul are you the only one preaching the truth........God's Justice is His Holy Virtues hence Jesus Christ the only one equal and One with God in Virtue.
John MacArthur is spot on: 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever.
dwaynesweatman: The message is bad, but the NWT should not even be considered as a Bible. The group of men that put it together are not even theologians. They have no education or training in Hebrew or Greek. All they did was copy most of the KJV and change what they wanted to fit their heresy.
The NWT is a bad translation but so is the Message "bible"....everyone loves the message now.Translations that arent literal should be disregarded. Ever read ephesians 2:7-10 in the message among many others, they suit the armenian just fine. Alot of seekerfriendly churches love it also. "God played the bigger role." What a shameful translation.
He said the scripture is wrong....This man is a wolf in sheep's clothing who twists scripture. Christ justifies the ungodly through His death burial and Resurrection!
I get upset when people post 10 minute clips, but don't link to the full sermon. If you can, try to include the sermonaudio or other link in the movie description. Washer preaches too good to just watch 10 minutes of it!!!!
It is good for a sample, but often I like to go back to and watch the full movie later.
I understand completely and want to remember to do that in the future. I have actually been considering going back to all the videos I've posted and putting "Recommended Reading" for each one (like a book or an article, etc.) I may link to the full sermons then, too. Here's the two in the series for this one for now, though:
tinyurl(.)com/5bwc2a
tinyurl(.)com/6qnwzv
I'm not sure which one this clip is from, but it's definitely one of these two.
When the bible says that christ is the firstborn over all creation, in the greek the word for firstborn is protos which means to be superior or above all...or better than all...so the word firstborn in greek is different from the word that we know in english
If the writer was trying to say Christ was first created he would of used the word protoktistos. prototokos is what they use as the first born such as king the first to be born does not instantly make you first born in jewish law. For example, Esau was the first to be born it was Jacob who was the first born. The one who inherited the kingdom. The word used in this verse is prototokos(first born) not protoktistos (first created) Context is Key Remember these words fellow bible students.
I was a JW growing up, but now I am not. This man said the JW's doctrine is an abomination because they believe Jesus was created. Perhaps he should read the bible sometime? Colossians 1:15 says "He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation." Yes, Jesus was created.
If you read that verse in context, what did Paul write next?
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things are held together.
16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. -NWT
Well, notice what "translation" you're quoting from. The NW"t" is merely someone's opinions about the Bible. There were not greek scholars that "translated" it, just people who wouldn't accept what the Scriptures say and would rather insert their opinions.
The "keyword" [other] that you mention is in brackets in the NWT because it isn't in the original Greek. Check out the Kingdom Interlinear - it's not there. It is put there by the NWT translators in order to get around these scriptures because they do not "work" with the Jehovah's Witnesses' theology.
If you are no longer a whitness then why do you believe in any of thier teachings. You have to take all or none of their teachings. With the watchtower there is no middle ground
Wrong. Jesus in the human flesh was born as a man to take our place. Jesus was not created. Because it says before all creation does not say that He was created. Read the Gospel of John, In fact Jesus is God and God has no beginning. It sounds like the JW influence is still in the way you read things.
@polopowers1 As God is Eternal and cannot die it is then said that this was “The human part of Jesus” (Doctrine of Incarnation where Jesus was made both God and man) to relate to human suffering. Then Jesus was not the perfect Sacrifice (Doctrine of Propitiation) because according to the Christian Doctrine, all men are born with original sin (This is in terms of the Christian doctrine where sin is placed upon mankind because of Adam and Eve).
@code4u1only If he was born without this sin, he would be less than man, and could not have related to temptation and suffering.
Wisdom of Solomon 18:21 For then the blameless man made haste, and stood forth to defend them; and bringing the shield of his proper ministry, even prayer, and the Propitiation of incense, set himself against the wrath, and so brought the calamity to an end, declaring that he was thy servant.
@code4u1only (The Doctrine of) Propitiation is being left out in entirety from many of the new versions of the Bibles. The question is why?
Is it not that the word rather not be used as (all those that have decided to leave it out) they don't accept the Bible's teaching about the wrath of God?
@code4u1only Is it not then because in the modern churches, Pastors prefer preaching the idea that God is not angry and that His full wrath will not be subjected on the disbelievers in His own words (and hence without inclusion of selective words satisfies the needs of men and makes it certainly easier to avoid the issue)?
Is it not then on removal of the word, it gets forgotten with the result that less questions will be asked, noting that many don’t even know the word and have no clue how to defend it?
@code4u1only Jesus is God who became flesh but He not always flesh. Jesus gave up His body. His Spirit always being One with God or God died and three in One is not necessary for God to be God. God can be seperated and still be God ?, impossible.Jesus was a man like any other man and was not a man like any other man, no contradiction. Jesus was God always One in Spirit with Father and Holy Spirit never seperated by death except by body or you have two gods remaining Father and Spirit, impossible.
@code4u1only You did not understand my reply. I"m defending the Trinity based on Oneness that Christ did not die as God. God cannot be suspended. Saying Jesus died as God means Father is God without Son.Spirit is God without Son; impossible, all must be. Jesus always God cannot die as God. Most Christions belive in the trinity but cannot defend it when they say Jesus died as God, impossible, He died in body only. God the trinity must always have the three in One never suspended by death.
@polopowers1 Is it Jesus then that died on the cross?
When was the concept of trinity introduced in the Bible?
How do you identify with Mary, the mother of Jesus?
Jesus was a man as it is known to all, was carried by his mother, Mary during a normal term of pregnancy and who went through childbirth labor pains, had all the human characteristics and attributes, and then should have ancestors as well, why would all this then not be given due recognition and acceptance?
@code4u1only I'm not sure I understand you have my first thesis Christ is God but died as a Man only. The trinity is in Genesis. Mary's ( please see my video on the virgin birth polopower1) womb was overwhelmed by God's Spirit. She herself however had no genetic effect on the flesh and blood of Christ. The blood of all men dies. Christ was a man like any man not like any man in everyway no contrdiction.Christ is distinct in flesh and blood. Mary did not pass the sinful nature on to Christ
@polopowers1 The Christian Doctrines of today were not in existence from the time of Jesus but rather began 325 years later, starting with the Doctrine of the Trinity. The word “trinity” is not found, and Jesus did not refer to himself as God, in any Bible in the world, neither is it in the original Greek and Hebrew languages [these being the original languages that the Bible was written in].
@polopowers1 The Doctrine of Trinity was introduced at the first of four councils that determined Christianity today, but because the Catholics at that time would not accept it, it had to be reintroduced 68 years later, at the 2nd council of Nicea. Through the Doctrine of Incarnation, which makes Jesus both God and man, to the Doctrine of Propitiation, or perfect sacrifice, the formulation of all of these doctrines took more than 100 years.
@code4u1only With reference to the Doctrines of Trinity and Propitiation and its introduction, the website has the history, why-christians-convert-to-islam
God cannot be seperarated and still be God.Father ,Son, and Holy Spirit are always One.Their Virtues ,love mercy, truth etc, cannot be seperate.Jesus is God yes,yet died as a Man not the God Spirit One.
I'm sorry to tell you bu the idea that Jesus was "created" is not scriptural. The NWT is not a reliable translation of the Gospel, and it is better for those men who changed it to die 1,000 horrible deaths than to pervert the gospel of Jesus Christ. Who is the GREAT I AM WHO WAS, IS AND IS SOON TO COME!
This was at my church. I was so privileged and excited to be able to hear Mr. Washer; not Paul Washer the man, because then I would have just wasted my time, but the Word of God spoken through this man of God, Paul Washer.
Hey, Lane. Do you have the full length video of this pice? I have never heard anyone that preaches like Paul Washer. That man is truly blessed, indeed. Thanks for the video, brother. God bless.
I have it, and I will post it on Stage6 later today, Lord willing. If you're not sure how to get to Stage6, the address is on my profile page. Right now it is 1pm EST so I expect it to be posted by 4pm. It's called "The Acropolis of the Christian Faith".
"The one who dies in the place of men must be the son of Adam, but he also must be the Son of God, God the Son." Amen. "I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior." (Isaiah 43:11)

Is it not that the word rather not be used as (all those that have decided to leave it out) they don't accept the Bible's teaching about the wrath of God?
code4u1only 8 months ago
@code4u1only Is it not then because in the modern churches, Pastors prefer preaching the idea that God is not angry and that His full wrath will not be subjected on the disbelievers in His own words (and hence without inclusion of selective words satisfies the needs of men and makes it certainly easier to avoid the issue)?

@code4u1only
Is it not then on removal of the word, it gets forgotten with the result that less questions will be asked, noting that many don’t even know the word and have no clue how to defend it?

@code4u1only Jesus is God who became flesh but He not always flesh. Jesus gave up His body. His Spirit always being One with God or God died and three in One is not necessary for God to be God. God can be seperated and still be God ?, impossible.Jesus was a man like any other man and was not a man like any other man, no contradiction. Jesus was God always One in Spirit with Father and Holy Spirit never seperated by death except by body or you have two gods remaining Father and Spirit, impossible.

@polopowers1
Christians must believe in the trinity (three in one), how can you say not necessary!
Christians must believe that Jesus was the son of “God” which again refers back to the trinity.
Then you say “His Spirit always being One with God or God died,” this is even more confusing , why the or?
Do you then believe Jesus to be “God” or the son of “God”?

God cannot be seperarated and still be God.Father ,Son, and Holy Spirit are always One.Their Virtues ,love mercy, truth etc, cannot be seperate.Jesus is God yes,yet died as a Man not the God Spirit One.

@hargisP2 Jesus was not created in human flesh He took upon Himself human flesh. this was the sacrifice , flesh distinct to God.
polopowers1 7 months ago
I'm sorry to tell you bu the idea that Jesus was "created" is not scriptural. The NWT is not a reliable translation of the Gospel, and it is better for those men who changed it to die 1,000 horrible deaths than to pervert the gospel of Jesus Christ. Who is the GREAT I AM WHO WAS, IS AND IS SOON TO COME!

This was at my church. I was so privileged and excited to be able to hear Mr. Washer; not Paul Washer the man, because then I would have just wasted my time, but the Word of God spoken through this man of God, Paul Washer.
