  • What the he'll

  • thank you for the collection! well done!

  • wow.....

  • Remarkable. Haunting. Beautiful.

  • The sygyt made me chuckle!

    For the win.

  • ...GOOD LORD!!!

  • You are extremely good!

And your trolling sense of humor is just awesome :D

  • 4:50 sounds like when I land my spaceship.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • How do you learn/ practise all these techniques?

  • Your throat singing expedites the completion of my physics homework and for that I thank you.

  • It sounds so painful!! I WISH I could do this. It makes me mad I can't. I've wanted to ever since I seen Vampire Bill Compton listening to it in his car with Sookie. Also, this guy does NOT look like a master throat singer by any stretch of the imagination. So good. It's so beautiful Sygyt style

  • Thumbs up if Sheldon brought you here.

  • You look constipated.

  • @IGNentertainmentable I AM. And the sensation of being constipated, or squirting out a baby, is almost exactly the same and creating laryngeal tension: contraction and increased close phase of the vocal folds. Also, I show just a head because I'm on the can. That is spiritual where I come from.

  • @Glenfuch I accidently made this sound once as I sat exasperated on the toilet, how funny you say that!!! XD X* UR the real thing man, keep it up

  • so....do you by chance know one Sheldon Cooper?????

  • @lisaisaprincess23 I actually know that this means now! Ever since I've recently seen these moving picture shows of which you speak. Thanks to popular media for occasionally making the unpopular less of what is and more of what it should be.

  • Good I mean

  • Very goog

  • Hes super cute too.

  • @Handymanbrandon Only cute to the ears. Never to the eyes. That makes for a hard life.

  • It's very spiritual and beautiful!! How did you learn? Would you give some tips for a begginer?

  • @Laulanmad Listen and do. Most intuitive thing for anyone with a fully armed and operational respiratory and digestive system. And ears, you do need ears. I don't say that to be a smart gluteous maximus: it is true!

  • You are probably the most diverse of all the throat singers i've seen on youtube. You nail all the main styles, and you do a pretty kick ass job. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the videos!

  • @PNWUnderground Thank you for the compliment! Truly and obsequiously. But there are plenty superior to me. Nevertheless, proverbial asses shall be kicked. Both cheeks. No mercy for the gluteous maximuses of my my competitors.

  • Recently been listening to a lot of traditional music from across the world from America. Throat singing is the most interesting I've found so far. I think you should do at least some studio recordings. You sound much better than a lot of people I've been listening to on YouTube(except those native Mongolians...they're super pro)

  • this has motivated me to learn at least a couple of these styles... I can mimic the khoomei fairly well... any tips for a beginner?

  • Tutorials. Please create them.

  • Beautiful. You inspire me to practice more, only my first week. Thanks for the upload.

  • @BlackMetalGamer yeaaaa practice that throat

  • Hey brother! Great job and keep up the good work! Try Chi Gung and Pranayama to help extend your breath. God bless you. Peace!

  • the khoomei borbanggndyr is amazing. It's mystical sounding. Gives me chills.

  • This is freakin dope! I seriously remember doing this naturally as a kid. I would sit there and hum to match the vibration of the vacuum cleaner or whatever else was vibrating at a constant pitch. I just need to learn to accentuate the overtone part now.

  • @jasonistics Haha you used to do the vacuum cleaner thing too! :D

  • the last one is so bad ass

  • Thnx Alex for the lessons, I have been practising hard and sharing what I can with other buddding throat singers! Much gratitude to you!

    Blessings!

  • is he singing different notes? or manipulating the same one mostly?

  • Comment removed

  • I love the Dag Kargyraa and theChylandyyk voices. They have this weird, soothing quality to them, even though they are rough-sounding. You're very talented!

  • 11 people like Lady Gaga

  • @waldi473 enough with the the whole " # people like ... " Noone gives a shit. Hang it up.

  • @TheJritch89 So you like her

  • @waldi473 Before i start to waste my time with you, I simply stated that the whole "people like shit" is retarted and its getting old. I said abosolutely nothing about liking that tranny. peace man

  • @TheJritch89 Don't smoke Mary. Bad for your health.

  • that is absolutely incredible.

  • Style 3 sounds like my electric toothbrush!

  • i watched this and one other video one night and learned how to do it, the thing i can not seem to do is hold the note as long. thats some crazy long breathing. how did you learn to hold the note that long and you should make another video showing how the tong movement changed the tones and the differences in right and wrong sounds.

  • U should do "silent night" in kargyrra and/or some other christmas songs

  • @thepuzzler1 I used to do "Amazing Grace" at funerals until the dead starting waking up and eating from the snack table.

  • @dreanki You need to use your diaphragm!

  • You should make a beginners tutorial, i think people would really appreciate it. Awesome vid mate.

  • Coolest guy ever? Maybe!

  • @chadpimp1 No. But thank you. Far from cool. The first day of grade nine I slipped on a PEN and fell directly into the full classroom of my French class. Took me 4 years to get anywhere near the level of teenage normalcy.

  • I love this video!! I want to learn this!!!

  • this is fantastic

  • i mongolia

  • bad khoomei arkhiraa i can khoomei arkhiraa

  • @MegaAHAP then you need to stop making weird sounds with your mouth and get a job

  • it is mongolian style

  • Fantastic !

I am liking throat singing very mush and this is a good intriduction to the different styles.

    Thanks for posting

  • Il est très intéressant. Merci.

  • I wanna hear the FOS RO DAH style!!

  • I love that high pitch tone that comes from the Sygyt style!

  • Ezenggileer Sounds awesome.

  • This is fascinating!! I do wonder if it creates some sort of strain on the throat, or if your speaking voice is changed as a result of this singing. You seem so relieved when you stop singing each time. :-P

  • @lordmusea Been ten years and no perceivable side effects. But any kind of singing can hurt the vocal apparatus if done with the wrong kind of tension. That's why Julie Andrews formed polyps from singing "The Sound of Music."

  • I watched this, and now my throat hurts.

  • Actually, fuck it. This is Awesome.

  • what

  • This is a rare art form and your execution is fantastic!

  • I'm an American who lived for two years in Mongolia and heard khuumii nearly everyday whether it be in a restaurant or in someone's home or on the radio. Thank you for learning this and sharing. You've helped me reconnect with my special time in that wonderful land. Post learning tutorials please!

  • I would like to learn these styles of throat singing & sing them into my guitar pickups & flutes & put echoes & delays & sustain them to stratospheric heights yea

  • Fantastic! One of the best I've heard. It's amazing how you have managed to make the sounds so clear.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics for this one?

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLOOOOOOOOOLOOLOOLOOOOOOOOOOLOOOOLOOOOOLOOOLOOLOOOOLOOOOLOOOOOWOOOOOOLOOOOOWOOOOWOOOWOOWOOOWOOOOLOOOOOOWOOOWOOOOWOOOOOOOOOEEEEEOOOOOOAAAAAEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOEEEEEH That's my version of the transcript.

  • @nhancin You spelled it wrong. Put it through Microsoft Weeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrdddddd.

  • @SH1 It is but one word. The word from which all words came, and the word to which all words shall return. It means everything and nothing, it means one and none. It is also a song about getting laid.

  • I used to watch this video alot and now i've randomly picked up the basics for the khoomei and and dag kargyraa :D

  • first off, the acoustics of where you're singing seriously make this sound truly amazing. second; I've been wanting to teach myself this for sometime now and after finding this video last weekend, I've started practicing. Thank you for the inspiration and keep posting the vids

  • instead of asking a broad question, can you give me specfic tips for each style? i can do one or two, but i wanna get the tones louder and clearer. and i wanna learn all of the styles, not just one or two.

thanks in advance! i'll definitely post something of my own when i get mine a little more to where i want it to be ^.^

  • I enjoyed listening to you so much, I have loved throat singing for years and learned of it through the travels of Richard P. Feynman (1918-1988) physicist , musician. Thank you for clearly demonstrating the different styles, I pray you carry on to great heights. Beautiful, really beautiful music! With love in Christ, Karen

  • Congratulations!

I was learning hkoomei in Tuva with Igor Koshkendei and also there with the finish khoomeizer Imre Peemot. I must to say that what you called ezenggileer sounds like a kind of borbanggndyr, I cannot appreciate really if you are doing also ezenggiler. And finally what you say borbanggndyr is definitly byrlang (very good, by the way).

    Greetings from Spain

  • Wow, amazing! Seriously how do you get the "flute" sound so loud? I've been practicing for 2 days now, I can get the flute sound its not faint anymore but its nowhere near loud enough.

  • @dreanki I'm singing in a highly resonant space and the camera is quite close to my mouth, so that helps, I think. But I think there is some truth to hearing the harmonics as clearly as you want to produce them. In other words, if you know what to listen for, they will become clearer. But that is just my experience, and someone else could feel something very different.

  • Nice

  • Good job, Alex!

  • It's cool!

    Thanks for the summary :)

  • Dag Kargyraa's deep tone is a sound in beatboxing that a lot of people ask how to make, it is really hard to explain I wonder if there's a traditional version of how to do that sound.

  • How do you get that like froggish sound from the chylandyyk?

  • This is absolutely beautiful with the melodies you come up with. I should bring all my viewers to your video.

  • reminds me of bagpipes. i wanna learn how to do this

  • Dude.. you should check out my video.. What style is it and what can i do to get a fuller and possibly louder sound? also have you heard Divine Moments of Truth by Shpongle?

  • You're amazing!

  • That was SO AWESOME! Thanks for demonstrating the styles, I was really curious!

  • Amazing! Thanks for sharing. I stumbled upon Huun Huur Tu 2 years ago and was floored. You my friend have excelled at this it seems like. I am trying to learn this myself.

  • Incredible. These sounds when done the right way can have magical powers. I learned of these from what I would call "the elders" during a recent high dose mushroom trip.

  • Must be fun doing this in churches and cathedrals!

  • 2:46 is amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it supposed to take a while to learn how to do this correctly? I think I've produced overtones twice for about a second each, but even then they were very low volume. If it takes a lot of practice, I don't really mind. Does anyone know exactly how to do this?

  • @SubjectAlpha100

They are easier to do in certain places, based on the acoustics. It does get easier over time. And you're always producing overtones. You just have to learn to isolate them. It is all about shaping your throat with the tools available to you, like your nasal passage and the back of your tongue.

  • How did you learn these?

  • I was sad when i entered youtube today, after seeing this i don't know what to feel...

  • Make a tutorial! :)

  • Check out "Natascha's Dao of Overtone Singing". Very nice technique. Also Miroslav Grosser. Its more about hearing first and then tuning your actions to get those tones. Alex is fantastic also. Enjoyed all these especially the first two.

  • Fucking amazing.

  • i love your singing man, trying to learn how to do it properly now but i don't seem to get anything other than dag kargyraa and maaaybe steppe kargyraa...

  • I'm so happy I found this video. It is perfect for torturing my neighbors.

  • Teach us how to do this please !!!!

  • Please make a tutorial!

  • I am VERY intrested in learning this!!! I would appreciate if you would reply and tell me at least where did you learn this (took classes,internet,book...). Would very appreciate it if you could give me some tips on how to get started!!!! PLS LIKE SO HE CAN SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a throat singer of my abilitys.. nice sir i applaud you

  • They told me I could be anything...

    So I became a didgeridoo.

  • wow i will love to learn those kargyraa, and the chylandyyk.

can you please make a video explaining those? or even one of those, also i will like about safety, and other things like that, because, it sound very hurtfull.

  • Great. I love the way other wind/wistle/ instrumental sounds come through too. Reminds me of those sounds/notes from movie E.T.

  • ......This is kinda beautiful..

  • holy shit! You are good! I'm starting to get the hang of it. Do you got any tips??

  • How the hell did you get exposed to this you magical man?

  • Where did you learn these techniques?? Please and thank you :)

  • @danosareus Learned them by ear. Listening to recordings. "Lifted" the basic sounds and played with them. I know that when you first hear overtone singing, it seems as though it would be impossible for you to ever do it, but it is just a restructuring of how you hear sound and how you play with it. No kidding here....ever.

  • Ethnomusicologists are hot. Strange. But hot.

  • @amazonx42 Do you realize that those words have probably never been written before and never will be again?

  • @Vanboevan I guess that's a compliment, but either way, I can't imagine a dreamier duet.

  • @Glenfuch Sounds like a good combo to me! Your khoomei and dag kargyraa extremely impressive to me. Do you have a recommended method of learning/practicing?

  • @howdyjesus Hi there and thanks for the comment. I don't have a recommended method; at least, not one that can be easily described. Generally, however, I practice moving from three levels of vocal tension: 1) normal; 2) mild laryngeal tension (khoomei); 3) upper laryngeal tension (kargyraa). Moving gradually through these levels of tension help to train the false vocal folds. Probably not very clear to you, but maybe I can show you some time. A tutorial has been requested and I must deliver.

  • @Glenfuch Haha actually, I've been a musician most of my life and I was a music major up until this year (job security is not what it once was). That made a whole lot of sense to me! Thanks

  • that is fucking horny!

  • If this not fake, it is absolutely unreal. Amazing.

  • I usually don't approve of actors that try to start a singing career but this Mathew Lilliard guy's awesome!

  • @op3crimsin Ha! Funny you say that, as I passed on the role of Stork, which he ended up taking back in 1991 for "Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College".

  • <3

  • wtf?

  • @Glenfuch You should listen to Dream Theater's Bridges In The Sky... Maybe they take you on tour! Awesome work ;)

  • @Nextnest777 I listened! And it would be great if they took me on a tour. Even if it was only but a dream.

  • @Nextnest777 yeah dude! that was a great call! I read in an interview with JR that its a keyboard sample recorded by a mountain monk type of figure.

@glenfuch It would be way cooler to go to a show and see you doing it instead of no one

  • You are good. Good luck!!! Never heard any westerner doing Khuumii before.

  • Very impressive! Unbelievable.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It's sooooo amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    太好听啦听得我激动得想死!!!!!!!!!

    都快哭出来了好吗!跟听Sainkho Namtchylak时的感觉一样!!!!!!

  • omg how did u do that i want to learn

  • what is the name of that song at the end??

  • Ah mate you hve got some SERIOUS talent!

  • Are you whisteling while producing the low tone? That is amazing!

  • @Glenfuch It´s really amazing. I found this clip when I was searching overtone tutorials, because I try to learn to sing that way. How long did you pratice overtone singing until now? (Sorry, for my bad english,´I´m german ;-)

  • No seriously, would be amazing if you could make a meldoy with that and then get drums on top, guitar and a singer :D Man, that would be amazing!!! Please join a band!!!

  • Man you should join an A capella group ;)

  • man, you're good at this stuff.

  • im speechless dude :P , this is friggen amazing !!!!

  • amazing!

  • FAKE

  • My roommate came in and was like WTF...

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing control - great video

  • So badass. The second voice had two sounds. Pro

  • What I'd like to know is how you came in contact with this art form? Did you live in Mongolia and learn from a master there?

  • Your neighbors must hate you

  • wow!! where did you learn this?? i'm impressed!

  • Hey Harry, wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?

  • Thank you for your video. It is very informative.

  • PHD in humming?

  • How do I go about learning this?

  • holy shit with the khoomei borbanggndyr :)

  • The guy and his comments rock. What else do you need?

  • Seriously, how the fuck did you get to this level? I can't seem to get past anything other than basic sygyt sounds.

  • Very impressive .. Thank you for sharing ..

  • ......Mesmerizing.

  • Wow — how long did it take you to get to this level? I'm hoping to learn myself but hardly know where to start!

  • God! that was the 6 most weird minutes of my life... Does it hurts? seem like it does :O

  • that's trippy

  • What's your favourite style?

  • OMG, thank you sooo much! I have been wanting to learn throat singing for quite a few years now and your amazing skills gives me new inspiration to learn! Where did you study? How did you learn? Teach me! :)

  • Great showcase of techniques! One of best on youtube! Your video is totally inspiring, so inspiring that it lead me to learn more of these tuvan styles. I have recorded a song of my own which is on my youtube page using the Kargyraa technique. Thanks Mr Glen!!

  • So if Scabbsie is 6th in line does that mean I'm the first guy who's asked to marry you? :o) Seriously, you are a very handsome and unusually talented man and I would ask to marry you if I thought there might be a chance. I want to learn these techniques, but my throat sesitivity causes alot of pain that leads to lots of coughing late at night. I was trained as a classical vocalist, so maybe there's a reason why?

  • Also, how do you get the Dag Kargyraa to be so low and deep?

  • Please do a tutorial!!!

  • Have you studied any Tibetan language too? That would be cool. and Nepalese.
