  • "Space," it [H2G2 - but you knew that already, didn’t you?] says, "is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space, listen..."

  • :'(

  • I want to eat the biggest star om nom nom!!

  • "Our sun... Is a star, just like the rest," You don't say?!

  • just WOOOOOOOOW

  • That's awesome. In my beliefs, God and science go together. God works according to the science and laws of the universe. I don't know why religion gets the image of "abracadabra" and everything just showed up. Religion, in my opinion, works perfectly with science.

  • @GuitarzFromMarzz You can believe whatever you want. But when people start replacing scientific theories with ancient mythology, we have a problem. That is the issue a lot of people have with religious people - the ones that try to push explanations for physical reality with the folklore of bronze-age goat-herders.

As long as you don't do that, yeah whatever, we're chill.

  • @PongoBluetooth God did create the universe.

He mede the Big Bang happen.

Don't think crap about us, we don't take the bible literally.

  • @Saladin4747 You can think that if it makes you feel better, but you can't prove it. As long as you're not trying to force anyone else to live by your beliefs and you aren't blindly denying science, I really don't have an issue with what you think up to explain things we currently can't.

  • I feel soooo tinta now -_-

  • Then there's the star chuck noris

  • Its goku's spirit BOMB!!!!

  • I feel like a nobody now...-_-

  • That last one is my testicle

  • O.o makes me feel small ....

  • Mind = blown

  • Wow

  • First blue one looks like the spirit bomb

  • The universe is gangsta

  • Amazing

  • Wow. Over 6000yrs on this planet and we are just now really discoverying the universe. Mankind is stupid

  • that's a big ball of energy :)

  • 2:17 sun is 1/4 pixel

  • I dont think peolpe know how big a billion realy is..... When you turn 31 years old, you havent even been alive for a billion SECONDS yet. Get this to the top so people can put it in perspective.

  • I'm getting real tired of listening to overproduced shows that spread 3 minutes worth of jr high physics into a 30 minute excuse for a television show. I keep clicking on these videos looking for something that is actually informative, new, and interesting. Again, I have come up empty.

  • @TheDudeKicker because most people still know nothing of this

  • jesus fuck

  • Could it be possible that the combined heat from ALL the stars in the galaxy could be providing a tiny percentage of the heat on earth? I've always wondered that.

  • 1:06 Spider-Man?

  • my biceps are bigger

  • @gredangeo Hell yeah

  • Omg, how little we are!!!!!!!!

  • it so FREAKING ENORMOUS

  • @janmauricepogi thats what she said

  • @TheFlixNetwork HI OH!

  • superultramegagiant star?!

  • i guess these stars are near at death

  • @janmauricepogi Not necessarily, but large stars do die out relatively quickly.

  • @janmauricepogi eta caranae and betelgeuse are near death, but im not sure about canis majoris

  • At 2:05 "Damn thats big.." Then "NO SHIT THATS BIGGER!" Then"HOLY WTF OMGBBQSAUS EVEN BIGGGER!" Then"STOP FCUKING WITH ME DISCOVERY.............MOTHER.OF.GOD! 0.0"

  • "takes off sunglasses" OMG!

  • How big would VY Canis Majoris appear to us if it was as close as the nearest star is (4 light years). Would it be a noticeable difference?

  • @gredangeo yes, it would probably appear a little smaller than the sun or maybe a little bigger, because, after all is is 1,000,000,000 times larger than our sun.

  • had to dislike to keep the joint burnin'

  • i think no one can say anymore: there is no GOD because everything needs someone to make it , in particular the universe

  • @elias85514 umm...?

  • @elias85514 there is no chair without the carpenter. there is no protein chain, without a specific calculated and conscience order.

  • and mtv for that matter, and most of the bullshit culture in 21st century...

  • Comment removed

  • It's just wonderful. And yet VY Canis Majoris is but a tiny dot among the wondrous seemingly infinite universe. I am proud to be part of it.

  • lol my monitor was far more bigger than those..........fire fly xP

  • Lol, every single video about science has the comments section flooded with the evolution-creationism debate. Evolution is a fact. Get over it.

  • Image the VY Canis Majoris is at the same distance from the sun ..... i would shit in my pants !!! hahahaha xD this look more then MASSIVE hahaha

  • omg

  • This mystifies and terrifies me at the same time....goosebumps man. Goosbumps.

  • truly a sight to behold

  • Anyone know the song in this video? It's quite lovely...

  • y r u atheist and religious idiots always arguing this isnt about wether or not god exist this is about something amazing its notabout fuking religion its a fuking star and its beautiful get over yourselves and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't go to any video on youtube about stars and cosmos without Atheists, and Theists alike arguing about whether or not God exists. I beleive there is a God, but come on people! Stop hating each other because they beleive in something you don't, Damn it!

  • Comment removed

  • @chaoskings35 i dont know about u but i belive in god. dna is just like a computer code, it has to have a creator. do u think that we are a sopisticaded race and humanity was born from some kinda genitic material that some how mixed up with some stuff in a comet and chrased on earth created us? then where did the genitc matireal come from? how can coincednses form like that so easily? how can we think? how can we reproduce? someone has programed the dna that created us.

  • @droiduser117 you hit it.

  • @droiduser117 But why is God such a Jock? why this obsession whit basketball?

  • Random guy: Our sun is nothing but a star giving us nothing but starlight.

Me: How dare you say that about my favorite blind able thing!

  • I know of something here in our Earth that could be a little bit larger than VY Cannis Majoris, that is: our specie's EGO.

  • @Kanitokun You can't measure something that's not real.

  • @GibblingX ...not real? tell to one of that 1% who has everything, to renounce to all his possessions and go living as the 99% do. where you, barely, (if not) can make the ends meet, taking the bus to go to work, etc... maybe you cannot t physically measure ego, but you can measure its consequences throughout history, from the times where our anthropologists have discovered, to now, Especially today. think about it and you'll understand what I tried to say.

  • @Kanitokun Wow, apparently some one has a life explaining shit on Youtube and expects to be nominated for a Nobel Prize. Good job. Good job. You do know I read it until 99% then I stopped. Thanks for your time.

  • 1:58--2:48 ...and it's not all stars of the universe

  • Cool That means that there is a good possibility that there could be saiyan's

wooot Goku is really out there somewhere

  • Makes you realise just how small you really are and how insignificant all our "problems" are

  • we are definitely a little shit in the universe.

  • @dandevilbr

not even... where not even little atoms compared to the universe. its kind of depressing really, but what can we do?

  • @dandevilbr

actually everything is little shit in the universe. 99% of the universe is space.

  • @dandevilbr We are the shit of bacteria living in shit

  • @dandevilbr little... little... little... little... small fragment of a fly's body close to the shit actualy.

  • @dandevilbr i don't think that lil shit defines how insignificant i feel when i watch this type of things

  • @dandevilbr you say "little shit" as if you can see that little shit.....We're fucking invisible!

  • The FSM is our God that has created the Universe! I love you FSM!

  • Anything any of you could conceive as god or religion is nothing compared to how unimaginably powerful the universe or even a star is.

  • Warning!: Dumb debate going on in the previous comments. Don't scroll down!

  • @Pinter333 thank you stranger from the internet.

  • i can see my house from here lol

  • Religion or not, you can't help but accept the beauty of space. c:

  • 2:33 SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @youztuber5000 Lol, didn't even see the post below mine

  • 2:08 holy shit 2:21 wtf ! 2:36 HOLY FUCKING SHIT

  • Wow.. Each time they zoom out to view larger stars.. The tinier I feel...... It's like comparing a full stop . to an capitalized O

  • "The bible tells us how to get to heaven, not how the heavens go."

    - Galileo

  • 0:45

that scared the CRAP out of me.

It's gunna take time to recover now

  • I feel so small. :|

  • My ballz are bigga

  • 6 people think our sun is the largest.

  • where's Mike Rowe?

  • was just about to do some revision for my exams. after seeing this, don't really see the point any more..

  • Fuck religion

  • Apparently religious people don't believe in science according to this video's second highest-rated comment. lolwut

  • @NguyenCharles Here is a short list of a few religious individuals you might know of; Galileo Galilei said "The Bible cannot err" and yes he said it after his clash with the Catholic church, Isaac Newton, William Thomson Kelvin, Albert Einstein "Firmly denying atheism, Einstein expressed a belief in "Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the harmony of what exists." He may not have belonged to any religion but he did believe in a God of some kind!

  • @davidj0x1 Yes... I'm religious and didn't say anything against that. Reading comprehension, guys.

  • @NguyenCharles Sorry about that. I just wanted a place for others to see it. I should have explained.

  • Sun, I am disappoint.

  • and think the VY star is still only a tiny spec in the sky, how much smaller you feel now

  • My apologies to CHAL3NG3R my comments were for aselyatheslayer

  • @davidj0x1 was it also god's will that we discovered evolution?

  • @Kuntipac Perhaps it was. Maybe one day science will find a real transitional fossil! How about the name of a fossil that shows a solid link between two species and the name of the two linked species. And don't show me something that may have been the ancestor of some other species millions of years later. Where is the missing link?

  • @davidj0x1 very weak argument.Have you heard of comparative embryology?Or vestigial structures found in various animals such as pelvic bones in whales?Have you heard of comparative anatomy or heard of the fact that we share 98% of our DNA with chimps, 92% with mice, 44% fruit fly or even 28% with yeast!Have you ever bothered reading a book besides the bible?Have you read of the studies within biochemistry?Probably not! I can even name a few un-intelligently designed organisms debunking I-Design

  • CHAL3NG3R why don't you go away you bigoted fool. You claim to not be religious but you are very religious. Your religion is science and you use it like a religious zealot to demean anybody who does not believe like you do. Science can only discover what God already knows and it seems to be Gods will that we discover science. Zealots like you would have us all at each others throats!

  • Saying that Science is a religion is a utterly flawed statement. People may trust science... why? Because science is repeatable, provable, facts. Sane people usually follow those things.

  • I see the stars, I put my hand on the screen, my hand's bigger.

  • so big

  • eve shouldnt have ate the fruit in tree of knowledge >.<

  • I wish canis majoris make my skin brown! :-)

  • It's so hard to even image the size of those stars...

  • hoooly shit. now im even more confident theres blue monkey people like avatar somewhere out there

  • wow i never rlly knew that wer soo tiny O.o

  • what is that blue giant star called please repy if u know

  • @razeblox blue giant is called Eta Carinae A

  • Would the last one reach to about Pluto?

  • @GothicMetallicafan - so do I!!

  • doent this make you think how small we are in the universe, we all think out planet is huge, yet in actaul fact it is merley a speck of dust comapred to other planets and stars in space, were tiny, yet we have billions of years to discover what lies out there!

  • WOW Our Sun is soooooooo tiny !! Amazing Universe!!

  • I just had goose bumps when I saw VY Canis Majoris... Mind Bogglingly Huge...

  • so if the biggest one exploded it would create a black hole?, what about betelgeuse?

  • @Kayseyfairbairn Betelgeuse isn't high enough in mass, it shines brightly though because its vast collection of gasses

  • @Kayseyfairbairn Not completely sure about a black hole , but it will create one of the largest nebulae we could ever see. If you go to iTunes, theres a show you can download called Astronomy Cast. They go into just about everything that hast to do with Astronomy, they do a couple of shows just on that question. I've listened to about 200 episodes, kinda hard to keep all the info straight!

  • and we were so scared that our sun explode will cause enormous damage....

  • If a fighter jet were to fly around the cannos majoris at full speed it would take 1002 years to reach where you started.

  • the music is very similar to the soundtrack of "Signs" at the beginning

  • is there green stars?

  • VY Cannos Majoris - 3.063 billion km or 1.7 billion miles in diameter -

Just a little bit big don't you think? @.@

  • @karadan100 I know it's enormous...

  • holy craaaap. is there a word that means hugely vastly super immensely gargantuous? I watched another video that said it would take 1100 years to fly around that thing on a jetliner.

  • @makinmimis77 I think the term "it's size is truly Galactic" would apply quite nicely here.

  • need more! were is the rest of this? :) These kind of videos are humbling and inspiring at the same time. Man I wish we had interstellar travel by now..

  • How great is God who created such big Universe out of nothing? And what is much more amazing that He became a man in order to save us and take us to haven.

  • @franciszek8D Heathen! The Flying Spaghetti Monster did this! RAMEN

  • There is only one thing that comes to mind when I see this video... HOLY CRAP!

  • I like boobies.

  • @23kroox23 1 person put a thumbs down on your comment that person is probaly gay

  • Comment removed

  • God is so great! WoooooW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What would happen if the biggest of them collapsed in on itself?

  • @paperclip898 it would probably make a super massive hypernova and make a massive blackhole.

  • @paperclip898 It would be the Biggest Loser

  • Fantastic!!!

  • ....I'm a speck... :'(

  • Reply to this discovery tv Vy canis majoris is way bigger then betelgeuse betelgeuse is simply invisible to it

  • lol our sun is gone already from the first comparison.

  • How great is God-Creator?

  • @0iMySize - that was uncalled for - if you don't ask you don't know! How's your sociology classes going?

  • 2:10 What is it called?

  • @boipinoi604 eta carina

  • I can't get those words out of my head "With more stars than there are grains of sand on Earth". Yea i feel so small... There gotta be more life somewhere there... We just need to ... Find them?... Or other way around?

  • what's with the Signs theme?

  • I wonder how many planets orbit VY Canis Majoris?

  • @MiniLemmy Sorry to disappoint you but the answer is none, the star will have blasted away all orbiting material long ago when it ignited. the same with all O type stars - No planets survive.

  • @MiniLemmy

Less than in our Solar System, if ANY... VY Canis Majoris is now a red giant, and consumed planets (time for lunch?)

  • @MiniLemmy none you fucking idiot

  • Here's a suggestion: since there will never be agreement between the religious and non-religious, I think science should be left to science-oriented and the religious can live by their bible, BUT be banned, banished, forbidden, precluded, etc... of

using a cellphone, hi-tech toy, drive a car, fly by airplane, etc..., 'cause it all came from SCIENCE (they refute and don't believe in)!

So, just go away and live in your stone-age communes on a flat Earth. This way, everyone's happy.

  • @aselyatheslayer well said... by a straight thinker!

  • @button4boy THANK YOU!
