  • Halloween is mah favorite holiday <333 Also, I like videos like this, where you teach me things. eventhoughIknewmostofthisbutstillilikeit <3

  • buckethead FTW

  • @HelmetBoyAndFriends

Yeah, man! Nobody knew who I was. -___-.

  • pff, what?

how buckethead is like the best shredder of all time!

    what a bunch of n00bs

  • If I must dress to frighten off evil spirits then I will dress as Hannah Caching Montana. It is a sacrifice i'm willing to make for my family.

  • LMFAO!!!

  • I'm glad you're one of those people who actually know the story behind Halloween. Where I live, there are all these Christians going around handing out bibles and telling everyone that Halloween is Satan's holiday and it's against God. So far I've received two bibles and two booklets with shit info about Halloween. I got seriously offended when they mentioned that Pagans are Satan worshipers. Damn them all!!

  • When the Romans invented Christianity as a means of control, they, to discourage people, told people any other, older religion was satanous.

Even though christianity copied paganism almost exactly =__=

    Stupid bastards.

Throw the bibles at them and say bible fight!

  • True. It sickens me how they try to hide their obvious hypocrisy.

Oh I wish I could have done that... they practically had hundreds of little green bibles that could have been thrown!

  • Ooh, did you get that leg from Asda? I got an arm like thatbthere =P

  • Yeah I did.

(I'm on this account, 'cause I've joined these guys in their vlog series).

    -G

  • Interesting video! Samhain is pronounced Sou-in by the way (:

  • Gah! I speak Welsh, =P So, owe it to my accent. haha.

    Thanks for the correction!

    =]

  • Is it? I should listen more in class, like you do =P

  • Bew :) Finally Somebody who explained all the details!! Here (in Switzterland) everybody's a drag about H and it basically hardly exists: they all accuse it of being a commercial American excuse for a holiday, as an anglophone I got pretty trashed about it.. Thank you sooooo much for just proving their ignorance^^.

    PS: Celts Rule

    You Rock So Don't Stop

  • Hey, thanks a lot, fiji! You go slate all of those douches for calling it an American/English holiday.

It's a holiday of my forefathers, the celts! Celebrating the beginning of winter and the end of the harvest.

I put some research in 'cause it seems it's the one holiday that not many are sure of the origin and thought... hey! why don't I tell everyone.

  • well it was a good thought. It's also Cool that you take time to answer our silly fan messages because it must take a while^^.

  • I love messaging my viewers. I consider you all friends more than fans, y'know?

I used to get emails sometimes, with people asking me to make vlogs on certain topics... I don't get any these days... yet I've gained subs. lawl.

  • weeellll... how about... Evil Machoisme?hehe^^Just kidding. Something cool would be more Celt stories (Legends, Sagas..), unless you've already done them, 'cause they're lovely to hear. :)

  • good job on that one.

Its always important to know, why the hell we're celebrating stuff.

I already knew the backgrounds since Im fascinated by the old Celtics and and the old germans and stuff.

But I 'm always open to some refreshment of knowledge =)

  • Thanks bro! I'm interested too, shame my degree is going to be in history in the last 150 years. =___=

  • Happy Halloween Cool Dude.

  • GEARS!!!!! I am so happy to see a video from you again!! Happy Halloween.

How has the university and learning new things been for you?

I have been going mad without hearing anything from you! You NEED to update us on what's been happening! lol

Canada is awesome for similarities with us here.

  • you mean you guys are just as crazy? haha XD

Nah got a little excited over the bucket it is "PSL" none of this "FLG" crap

    All seriousness aside, moreless

Whats you opinion on Halloween and how its evolved from how it was the whole thing of "keep spirits away" to the sultry dress up that seems nothing but alcohol and lust induced. Just looking to start a little conversation to kill the time ^^

  • I think that, like most holidays, it's lost it's meaning over the years.

  • you meann you call em pumkins eh' lol jk

  • for that comment you'd get punched in the baby maker here in Canada eh mate? ^^

  • wow them canadians cant take a joke...chill out my friend i was just kidding. sorry if i offended you.

  • Haha, good one.

  • HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! :D!

  • Right back at ya! =]

  • No, they took my video down because of it. That's why. Does it say you have ever had a problem in your account standing? And they told me after i applied for a partnership

  • Account Status: community guidelines

Your account is in good standing.

    Account status: copyright

Your account is in good standing.

Is this good enough do you think?

  • yea pretty sure

  • Awesome. I was worried then for a second. I've never had a video taken down. I've taken down a good few of my older videos, though.

every time I apply, it's because of lack of viewership I don't get it.

I did see your vid I rated 5*. I found the main guitar bloody annoying though to be honest.

  • yea i thought so too... oh well. i wasn;t gonna go re-record

  • It's eerie. I've gotten back into Tenacious D lately, and I learned all the electric guitar parts only yesterday, haha.

You coming on skype tonight? I just added you. My comp deleted almost everyone a while back.

  • go live on blogtv

  • hey gears, you see my newest video?

  • No, why'd you switch channels?

  • whoohooo ....welcome back.... just in time..... Happy Halloween!

  • "Hey, so, these demons are coming in from another world. What should we do?" "Disguise ourselves as one of their own!" "Brilliant! What else?" "Go door to door and extort candy out of our neighbors." "It's only logical..."

  • Lawl!

Maybe you should be the comedian, I'll stick to the sense based topics.

    xD

  • I'll get my legions of jewish writers to start the presses.

  • We actually use pumpkins for our Jack-O'-Lanterns because of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In this story, a man tries to scare somebody out of the woods by pretending to be the legendary Headless Horseman, so what he does is wear a big cloak that obscures his real head while carrying a pumpkin as a fake head. That's also why we traditionally carve faces in pumpkins: to mimic the fake head in the story.

  • great vid, nice to see you back in my subcription box.

  • Hey man, glad to be back in there! Expect some more next week.

  • Where the hell have you beeeeen?!?!?!

  • Cardiff -___- sadly.

  • Woooh! Welcome back!

  • Thanks, bro.

I still don't have a means of editting my videos, but I'm getting closer. I have internet now... just need to wait until I get my Mac for christmas!

Also, I have 4 essays due monday, so I'll be trying to record mid next week.

  • I remember doing a story like that through Irish a few years ago =]

  • In the irish language? Awesome!

Was the story right? I know Halloween developed mostly as we see it today through Irish traditions and Scottish traditions.

Welsh Celts celebrated a bit differently since we displayed heads of people we killed in battle rather than swedes.

  • "Welsh Celts celebrated a bit differently since we displayed heads of people we killed in battle rather than swedes." <--- That is pretty cool!

Yup it's more or less correct, Irish is a funny language when directly translated into English? Most Irish stories I've learnt in school have a lot to do with the devil?! =/

  • Yeah, a lot of Pagan related ones do, but only because English and Christianity added the devil into some stories to try and tie paganism and celticness to devil worship. Sad, really.

The Irish and Welsh have been most mistreated, Scottish haven't been so much in comparison.

  • gd vid gears considering you havent done a vid in a month and this a special event so i think u you done pretty well btw love the g carved out in the pumpkin lmao and the tribute to Buckethead

  • Great job of pumpkin carving.

I don't know about Halloween origins so thanks for the info!

  • I had a great deal of help from my Dad, since I've got a hurt hand, you can't tell in this video though.

  • That story was pwnsome. I guess us lazy Americans are good for something after all.

  • I love the pumpkin! That's a pretty interesting story about Halloween! I've always wondered where it evolved from. Thanks for helping me learn something! Another great video Gears!
