  • Actually, I never saw any documentation either proving or disproving this fight ever took place. However, having studied UechiRyu since 1974, and on Okinawa since 1979 with Kanei Sensei and other seniors, I think I would have heard something about this at some time - but I never did. You're probably correct in labeling this a rumor. At any rate, the name "Uechi" is a common name, and if such a fight took place, it was not with a member of the Uechi family of UechiRyu fame. Good catch.

  • Lee fought a man named Uechi. Uechi is a very common name on Okinawa and now in Mainland Japan. Sort of like Jones, or ... Lee ...

Uechi means "upper ground". Many Okinawan names are derived from the places the nameholders lived in, or the jobs they held, ancestrally. Like Cartwright, or Smith. Most who have the name Uechi are not related even distantly.

This is a poor copy of a great film made by Charles Earle in 1965, as noted below.

  • @GSBreyette BL never fought a man name Uechi nor the member of the Uechi ryu family. There's no documentation but only rumors of such fight taking place. Even BL closet friends and family members don't know who Uechi is, or that he exist or if this fight took place. Another fan made rumor on Google.

  • You will find anyone in Cyberspace. Kanei Sensei is fast no doubt but the bluriness is caused by the movie clip copied a million times. And, what has Bruce Lee got to do with this...? What's the connection between a teenager and an old master?

  • hes a mime

  • lol this guys is too slow..

  • @f50koenigg

actually it's the tape slown right down... if you watch closely on some of his movements, his arms go blury meaning the camera is too slow to catch all the movements in proper detail.. bruce lee had the same problem where he had to actually slow down in his films for the camera

  • if this is the uechi that lee fought he must have been 80 at the time.. this is film from like the 1930's.. lmfao lee fans will believe anything....

  • Bruce actually beat him in 11 seconds

  • Lol wow a karate guy beating bruce i love the old Karate folk stories funy how none of them talk about the time they went to Thailand and were beaten by ordinary Muay Thai fighters

  • This is a film originally shot by Sensei Charles Earles in Futenma Dojo in 1965

  • Hey did this guy fought Bruce Lee 1962? in seattle, washinghton?

  • Mr. Mattson opened a Uechi dojo in Boston. Lee visited dojo. Demo was with Jim Maloney. Quote: "the exchanges were many. Bruce was trying to close the distance with his fast kicks, but never could.I had to take it easy when jamming him because Lee only weighed 127 lbs. And George was telling me Take it easy for fear I'd knock him to the floor. I got my wauke under his side and round kicks several time in a jamming fashion, once jarring him off balance but holding him up so he would not fall."

  • Very interesting, where did you get this source from?

  • @MartialArtNerd52475 Bruce Lee took down Uechi in 11 seconds.

  • @Watzitoya

Do you even know what does "Uechi" mean?

  • The best performance of this kata i`ve seen

  • Thank you for posting this Video a great referance

  • Seeing this brings up happy memories. My Sensei Charles Earle trained with Master Uechi. I miss him and his insight. He effected change in my life. God bless all.

  • Woah, Charles Earle was my Sensei too. He was insanely awesome. Still is, in a roundabout way.

  • Wow, he was such a great master.

  • This is history... our history... awesome!

I saved to our favorites ofcourse!

    Thanks!

    =)
