i too was born premature at 24weeks one pound two ounces and spent more than 8months in the hospital all my mothers children we premature but i was the smallest and in the most danger.. im the middle child of 5 and was the first to graduate high school and go to college i graduate Aug. 3rd and will start my career as a patient care tech... caring for people is my way of giving back to those who did the same for me... blessing with your baby!
i was born at 24 weeks and 800g. i am now 23 years old and i thank my parents for having the courage for fighting for me. if the drs had their way i would not b here today. the drs told my parents that i would never walk or talk and i would have many other health problems. today appart from having bad eyesight and bad lungs there is nothing wrong with me. trust your instincts when it comes to your babies. drs r awesome but they r not always right!

My mother wasn't supposed to have another child after having 2 miss carriages. 7 months later, I was born.
I wasn't the brightest in class (only because I suffer from lazyness. Or, I did.)
But at the moment, I'm writing poetry many love and I am putting music to it (Hip-Hop) I am in position to take off with my career. I've also placed top 10 in a ton of poetry contests.
Premature just means you get to experience the miracles faster. ;)

My mom tells me I was 10 pounds at 10 months (7 months corrected age) and 15 pounds at 15 months (12 months corrected age).

@GodfatherJAM We got the same talk. Our son was 25 weeks. The smallest at the hospital until we went home @ barely over 3 pounds! He is now 7 years old and one of the biggest in his class. He is the sweetest kid I have ever been around. There are some people in the world that when you are around them you just feel better for a while. I am lucky enough to have that in my son. A tumor doesnt have its own DNA pattern...a heartbeat like a unborn baby or "fetus" does. no more a person than a tumor? Get real! Be glad your own mothers wanted you. I know I am.
How can anyone say a baby in the early stages of pregnancy isnt a person?? We all started out life the same way. It sickens me to think that an unborn baby isnt a person to some unless that unborn baby is wanted...that if they arent' wanted that suddenly there not human and its okay to tear them apart in the womb...limb from limb. So sick and so very sad! They are ALL people...no matter what stage in the pregnancy theyre in.
@meowness21 Not very many people get abortions at this stage. The symptoms of pregnancy at this stage are obvious, and the sudden change will clearly show people that the woman is not carrying any more. Further inspection would reveal she did not give birth, in which case she would be reported and arrested.
That said, I do think early abortions - where the fetus is not actually cognitive yet, are fine. It may sound offensive (it is XD), but at that stage, they're no more a 'person' than a tumor.
All my cousins kids were born as premies 2 out of 3 survived..Its heart breaking..Her only little girl..Serenity would be 2 years old in january..But her 2 boys have grown to be healthy little guys and we all love them very very much! All babies are a blessing..They're part of lifes most amazing gifts.
I remember that with my son. He was born at 22 6/7 weeks and 1.5 lbs. Did he have to have a PDA Ligation done? My son did at a week old. I'll have to go over and look at the now pics. My son is almost 4 as well. Will be 4 in December! God Bless the tiny babies! :)
@ddmm12407 - Glad to hear he made it! We did not do PDA Ligation. He might of been give some medication at this time to help it? but can't remember right now.
@maalbadeen - It is to maintain a temperature and humility that keeps their skin healthy. Also they have almost no body fat so they need to be kept above room temp.

i have a friend who was born at only 24 weeks gestation. these days she does have a little bit of a mental impairmeent, has breathing problems, and has eyesight problems but she is alive and that is all that matters to me and has been for almost 15 years now!
@GodfatherJAM Wow...my son was born 13 weeks premature also because of a placental abruption. I went into labor just in time because the abruption was only at 10%. He is today a thriving 14 1/2 year old and as tall as me and his dad. :)
@lkrause74 - Good to hear! Our second kid only came 5 weeks early at 5.5 lbs. This time she was on blood thinners as they figured it was a clot that made the first one born so early.

@GodfatherJAM I too had a preemie. My first child, a boy, was born at EXACTLY 27 weeks. He was born on the 1st day of my 27th week so actually he was probably more like 26 3/4 weeks. He weighed 2lbs 3ozs and was only 13 3/4 inches long. Today he is a thriving 14 year old (15 in March). I am SO thankful to the wonderful NICU staff at David Grant Medical Center for his care for 2 1/2 mos. Both these kids are miracles!
@GodfatherJAM The NICU can be a scary place at first. When a group of moms to be took a tour of the NICU I was visiting my premature son and I looked at one and told her I hope your baby never has to be here. :)

I was also premature. I was supposed to be born in november but I was born in september. I have had no medical problems whatsoever :) Of course it's nothing compared to this baby!

@ihatenumbers987 - I think so, his skin was kind of clear. Some come out hairy and than lose it this early. The teddy bear is a OX pulse pickup probe I believe.

@brendaeileen - I will save them but may take them down and put away when he gets to be school age. . It does bring you back to being there, like being in a war. I get a glimpse off a NICU unit and get overwhelmed sometimes with the emotions like I am still there.

He has God watching over him. I was premature by a month and a half, but that is too insane to be coincidence that your child is still alive. Glad to hear that. :D

I was also premature. I was supposed to be born in november but I was born in september. I have had no medical problems whatsoever :) Of course it's nothing compared to this baby!

This totally breaks my heart!! I have 3 children, and I thank God everyday that I didn't have to see them like this! God bless your sweet baby boy, I'm so glad that he pulled through and is doing well. Take care!!

I was also a premature, but not this early. I was born at 7 months.so about 30 weeks or so, I'm not sure.

May God Bless you and that sweet baby! Glad to hear he is doing good! Our son Sammy was born at 24 weeks also and lived an hour and the Lord called him home. He looked just like us only small. We love and miss Sammy so much and would give anything if he was here with us today. I feel very blessed for the time we did have with him and I'm so greatful for all the pictures and I even got to keep some of his hair. Again I'm happy to hear your little one is doing good! @ihatenumbers987 - I think so, his skin was kind of clear. Some come out hairy and than lose it this early. The teddy bear is a OX pulse pickup probe I believe.

@fraydough - About 3-4 weeks after birth. He starting doing little one eye peaks when he heard our voices.

I was born 3 months premature in 1982.......... My dad got rid of all my baby pics tho because he was too disturbed by them :(

@brendaeileen - I will save them but may take them down and put away when he gets to be school age. . It does bring you back to being there, like being in a war. I get a glimpse off a NICU unit and get overwhelmed sometimes with the emotions like I am still there.
