Motörhead is easily my favourite band of all time, but it's still debatable as to whether or not they can be accurately classified as 'heavy metal'. If anything, they are largely responsible for the creation of the heavy metal genre - having influenced almost every pioneering metal act - but are not heavy metal themselves. Lemmy himself has always rejected the heavy metal label, which must mean something.
