even though wrestling games are some of the top selling games each year i think within the gaming industry and the public in general wrestling fans are seen as dumb or uneducated and wrestling as some farce or like a non event or a genre thats beneith them to promote a wrestling game as a powerhouse 5 star title like CODMW or MGS or GOW or a serious sports game like Madden.

Legends of Wrestling 2 for Gamecube is the best wrestling game I've pretty much ever played. Had everyone! Hogan, Andre, Funk, Bam Bam, Hacksaw, Piper, DiBiase, Heenan, Lawler, LOD, Rock n Roll Express, Koko B Ware, Iron Sheik, etc. AWESOME game and still holds up to this day imo. The career mode is SICK, and the tag team,battle royal, cage, and ladder matches are cool.

I own Svr 2009 and the new TNA impact game and just by comparison there is a very small move set.Ynoticed the moves became progresivley more and more repetive. I wish TNA keeps trying to create great wrestling games, they difenetly are able to create a great show through the tv now just a great show through the controller.

If the AKI engine was still used and Syn Sophia (formerly AKI) is still with THQ in the mid 2000s, they should have developed WWF WrestleMania X8, WrestleMania XIX, Day Reckoning and Day of Reckoning 2 on the GameCube.

Wrestling games, outside of "Fire Pro Wrestling Returns," have not been worth a crap since THQ quit using the AKI engine. PERIOD!!! Yukes... Anchor... SUCK ASS!!!ALL, of the classic N64 wrestling games???

The games aren't treated as epic because they aren't epic. The only decent wrestling game to come out in the last 5 years is Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.

What do wrestling fans want? Based on the caws I have seen, they want as much as possible. They want legends from as far back as the 60's,70's,80's, they want Japanese and Mexican superstars, and they want the current stars AJ Styles, John Cena etc. Imagine if you had the choice to play as an up coming rookie. All the way from the small independent circuit all the way up to WWE's main show. What if you could do it in any era? How about if you could sign with different companies on the way up?

What if on the way up you could build your own factions, pick from different managers or valets and choose different tag partners? Todays wrestling games, should have rosters as big as FireproWrestling, game play better the WCW/NWO Revenge, every move ever conceived +, not 30 different powerbombs, limitless match tapes, titles, and rings and a whole lot more. That is why wrestling games are not on the cover of anything

@5starwrestlingradio MMA is the hottest thing right now because Dana White is a smarter man then Vince Mcmahon. Wrestling will never be as big as in the mid to late 90's. That was the high point and it could have gotten even bigger from there. But when Vince shut down ECW & WCW he cut out half the audience. Vince "Selfish" Mcmahon will not acknowledge other companies or wrestlings great history. Dana embraces MMA history and promotes MMA constantly. UFC filled the void Vince made.

If they don't do a generic or non licensed game then I'd like to see a game based on the 80's/90's NWA/WCW vs WWF, would be cool to see all those great tag teams like the Midnight express with Jim cornette (Lane and Eaton best team ever) vs the Hard Foundation with jimmy hart or the Road Warriors vs the British bulldogs. I know they can't do one with flair and hogan because they are in TNA now and WWE has a lot of other legends but at least do like a Ring of Honor game with NWA/WCW legends.

I'd like to see a really good fun generic wrestling game like the old style NES pro wrestling or something like it. Ofcourse 3D and very very high quality graphics and animations but they'd have more freedom with all generic characters the dev made up vs having to have WWE's restrictions.

I think Smackdown 4 is great, Especially the AR Max Codes for extra tables.

SvR 06 was a cool game, good create mode etc. Yeah GM Mode was awful, But TNA Impact was awful especially the PS2 version. Abyss does not do high flying moves >__>

Smackdown is an overplayed whored series. TNA iMPACT! is a pretty descent game even though it is not so deep, the gameplay is fun.

Powermove was pro wrestling was a port of Toukon Retsuden 1 a Japanese wrestling games for the psx. WCW/nWo World Tour and Revenge and Wrestlemania 200 No Mercy were made by AKI Corporation . Powermove pro wrestling is the same engine as Toukon Retsuden and the smackdown engine is a dumbed version of Toukon Retsude/Powermove pro wrestling.

I find it funny how most of my friends say "Oh SvR08 is great you are stupid" I have massive control problems with that game, not to mention the stupid ass glitches and the elitists who exploit every glitch in the game for the sole purpose of being cheap. THQ should take a few steps back, Take SYM/HCTP's engine, work it to have graphics that have a stylish next gen feel, add some more matches and options here and there, and it'd be perfect, THQ needs to pull their head out of their asses.

Fucking aye, you guys got the right idea. The Smackdown games ever since HCTP have just plainly sucked, that's when they started limiting the games for little reason.

And now I see people buying the same updated crap year after year and saying that the game is good. I can't relate to that, I REFUSE to settle for anything less then "good" when they could do so much better then they already are doing.

The problem is all they want is money. They don't want to try hard to sell anymore because the recent WWE crowd is (I'm not gonna lie) easily convinced (hence the cheers for Cena) and will buy the game just because it's SvR rather then base it on the facts.

I mean they took out free roaming backstages, a nearly endless branching storyline, and turned it into linear storylines and one or two backstages that you can't even free roam. Yukes is lazy, they can do better (SYM/HCTP) but just don't.

And they took out great functions for no reason. People shouldn't fucking settle for that but for some reason they do and just keep buying the game year after year thinking it will be better. I dont think it will ever be better until they start working on the game engine. Did you know the core engine is 15 YEARS old?

The TNA game sure had potentional but it could have been alot better. Seems like they just had to finish it shortly because of a deadline and it came out half-done.

I did research, technically Yuke's doesn't make the SVR games, they make the graphics and gameplay engine, then THQ does the rest of the development.
