I had mine for almost a year before I traded it for another gun.It never had any problems,I shot about 700 rounds through it,mostly full 357 mag loads.Just beware that .357 rounds in this gun are near impossible to hit a target with, the .38spl's in it are far better. If I had to do it all over again i'd just get the s&w .38 snub for $100 more.
I have a Rossi .357 with a 6" barrel. I shot a steel real estate sign. It hit at the top band that holds the sign together(roughly 1/2 inch thick) and it spit that band like a piece of paper. love it...
i have this gun, very nice quality and shooting. i'd definitly recommend hearing safety, i shot this 4 times and went nearly deaf for 3 weeks in my left ear.
I've read that when a person gets shot with a .357, it's like they've been struck by a bolt of lightning. Just a devastating round. By the way, was that a square of Lexan he was shooting at? Did the round penetrate?
Jus simply the sound of this gun is terrifying. I walk the streets of the N/NWside of Chicago and if I had to choose what gun I wanted for concealment this would be it! Ive shot .22s and .38s but this is the bees knees lol.. You wouldnt even have to actually shoot any1 with this cause just the sound would let every1 know within a 4block radius what was good. .22s and 38s are considered to sound like firecrackers and unless the cops are in the general area they wont be called unless some1 is hit.
I know what you mean, when I first got this gun 2 years ago it was my first handgun,so I didn't bother with ear protection,I don't even know if I had any yet,but I got home from the gunstore, walked out on my deck in rural Michigan, loaded a .38spl round in it and fired, and thought"that aint to bad"all it sounded like was a high pitched snap,I asked my wife to go in and grab me a round of .357 and then I fired that-I wish I hadn't-all I remember is that deep thunderous bang
the higher your thumbs are the lighter the recoil will be and the less muzzle jump you will experience, all this = faster follow up shot and you stay on target a lot better.
It never gave me any problems during the time I owned it,I did trade it for another gun though. You feel the recoil with .357 rounds, but with the full sized rubber grip it comes with,it really doesn't hurt to shoot alot.I could go through 50 .357 magnum rounds with no pain.
My Rossi has a longer grip with finger grooves in it which makes it very easy to hold, and all your fingers even your pinky grip it well. Most other snub revolvers have a shorter square grip.
@klown8745 I like mine it has held up well against .357 loads but the trigger pull is really long and heavy. My girlfriend has a tough time firing it double action she usually gets the first 3-4 and then her hand is fatigued.
LEAN a bit into your stance...you tend to lean back in your shooting stance. You'll find better control when leaning just a bit forward...
TRY not to become used to that left handed grip, where you wrap your left thumb over the right hand. If someone hands you a semi-auto, your thumb will come off, or at least be burger meat once the round goes off and the slide comes back to hit your thumb. Getting used to a hold like that can only bring you pain. Nice video.
My grip on the revolver is called the "weaver"grip,it is very popular for oldschool revolver shooters and was created by Jack Weaver.Jerry Miculik also reccommends this grip on small framed revolvers such as what I am shooting.I have a semi auto and I use a both thumbs forward grip on that.
Google "weaver grip", you'll notice not one image showing the grip involves the left thumb CROSSING over the right hand the way you hold it.
Again, the advice is just that, i've seen people at the range take thumb meat off using the very same grip when using semi-auto guns...and while you might change your grip when using your semi-auto, it's much better to get used to ONE grip that will work for both...this way under pressure when every shot counts, you won't have self inflicted wounds.
I love the noise that thing makes makes. I am looking to get an armscor snub in 38 special. Would get something like a S&W but I don't have the money.
Great vid! I'm considering this gun for a new daily carry. The S&W .357 snubbies are a bit more than I'm willing to pay. Any problems with your Rossi?
No problems yet.I have shot around 300 .38s and 250 .357s out of it so far.The trigger has got a little sticky before, but it loosened up after a few dry fires.
go to wal mart an get some brake free cleaner for guns an when ur done cleanin the gun or puttign it away for a few weeks or longer spray the hamer an trigger like 1 sec worth shit works grate on my ar15 an my sw 629 an ruger gp100
In Columbus, Ohio some robber busted into a hotel room and was weilding a gun, robbing everybody. A 70 year old grandmother reached into her purse, grabbed a .357 magnum, and shot the robber, killing him. Justice.
@ninjatoth I believe it, I used to be a 45 lover, then I got my 357 snub nose and I have never carried my semi autos since. I love it and damn it sure is powerful!
It sure will. In the right size gun and with the right bullets and powder loads the .357 Magnum can take Deer down quite easily if the hunter is a good shot. They even make ammo for the .357 Magnum for punching holes in dangerous game like wild hogs and black bear although against a grizzley you better shoot for the head/mouth or your going to be its next meal. lol Cool vid.
At 1:10 was there a cameraman? because you were awfully close to the milk jug, it couldve shot through that balloon hit a stone recoiled and hit you. just saying
Just a note--you want to watch not to arch your back too much. That's a natural thing to do but if you look you'll see you're getting knocked back in recoil at 45-46 for example because your center of gravity is off. I find the best way to manage it is to thrust the right shoulder and arm forward, pulling back with the left and leaning into the recoil. Weaver's system puts you into the right position naturally. Isosceles is a tougher one to manage I find.
I will keep that in mind now.The weaver grip has changed everything for the better,i got pretty big hands so it works, but stance needs work.I see 150lb guys doing better than my 240lb fat butt.I get knocked back bad alot
Execution at 1:27 I love it. Nice revolver. I have only heard good things about the rossi 462 I want one so much. To bad I am short for cash right now.
How dare you execute that innocent milk jug in such a cold fashion!
