Freelancer (the one from Microsoft Games), the storyline is pretty badass, there's enough to make a full 2 to 2-1/2 hours for the extended DVD release and could easily cut it to about 90 minutes for a theatrical release. If not Freelancer then perhaps the one of the Descent series, though there's not much storyline involved there.

I did like advent children though but the reason that worked was because it was a story outside of final fantasy 7, not just the game adapted into movie form which for the most part is all Hollywood has been trying to do.

(SPOILER) Final Fantasy VI trilogy? Ya damn right Brentalfloss! In my eyes, that being the best video game story, it would make a great 3 movies. Movie 1 could end after the mini-war in Narshe for the Esper. A good note to go off on, seeing how Terra transforms and goes off screaming. Of course the 2nd movie would end after the creation of the world of ruins...another great cliff hanger. The 3rd movie could be all about getting everyone back together with their own stories, for the final fight.

Metroid Zero mission, they could easily make a movie on just metroid and to pad out that basic story, adapt the comic that was made giving Samus more backstory. so from her childhood on a colony planet, to the space pirate raid and then being rescued by the Chozo. It could either have a simple chronological structure, or it could be Samus exploring and fighting the space pirates with her past injected as flashback scenes.

The Megaman Zero saga could make for a great set of movies. you would have to remove the gameplay aspect of the universe, but the story potential is there, with Reploid and Dark Elf wars, and the final battle with Wiel in space... good stuff man.

But if I had to choose, I'd want to see a good, live-action Pokemon movie. It would have to have a completely original storyline and absolutely amazing effects, but done right and with a good design team, it could be amazing.

There are many games that i would love to see as movies, such as mass effect, final fantasy, and so on but they don't seem like realistic chooses because of the huge stories and the limitations on films with a budget and all. so the two games that i think would be easy adapted to a movie would be any Devil May Cry game(accept 2) or some thing from the Infamous world.

Last but not least is the game that introduced me to the RPG genre....a little known and severely underrated game by Culture Brain called The Magic of Scheherazade....you basically play a dude who's a cross between Samuel Beckett and the Prince of Persia...you are trying to save your girlfriend whom you cant remember because the evil wizard who kidnapped her has wiped out your memories....i think that this game more than the others i listed would be an epic movie if done true to the game.

Second was and still my all time fave beat em up game...River City Ransom...again it had fun and addictive gameplay coupled with an unforgettable soundtrack...the plot was memorable too...high school kid dates the girl of his dream who then gets kidnapped by a former childhood friend of his who has become the head gangsta of several street gangs.

First is Blaster Master....the game had it all...excellent gameplay and replay value,awesome music that fit each stage and a lovable plot...boy loses pet frog down a hole and quests to find him.

A.L. Singer wrote a book adaptation of the game that was so awesome that Sunsoft used it as a background for the games sequal....i think a film based off the book would be an epic movie...if the film makers actually put it to film instead of doing whatever the hell they want.

I just found out that Mass Effect is already getting not one, but TWO movies.

The first is from Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., based on a script by Mark Protosevich, who also wrote The Cell, I Am Legend, and Thor (I'll leave it up to you to decide how to feel about that).

The other is an anime film from T.O. Entertainment and Funimation.

Both films are set to be released later this year.

I have the same statement concerning this issue, every time it arises. Video game movies should only be done first-party. That is, the company that produced them. I mean, look at Assassin's Creeds Lineage and Embers. Those were pretty damn good. Look at the stuff that Blizzard produces for their games and trailers. All of those are fucking badass. If a video game movie is going to be made, then they should be done first-party, or at the very least have absolute participation by the first party.

I can think of two games that made shitty movies, that would be great if they were made properly: Double Dragon and Fatal Fury.

I own DD because despite its shit factor, I love the stupid goofiness of it. As for FF, never watched it but from what I read of the description and the look of the actors playing the characters, THEY ALL NEED DIE HORRIBLE DEATHS!
