I've been practicing martial arts for 7 or 8 years and still am unable to kick high. My problem is in the hips. I'm trying out your stretches and I'll give you an update in a few weeks to let you know how it comes out. I will say this, I've gone through these stretches twice. Already I see a difference. (side note: I'm female and 56. I practice martial arts because it gives me the ability to do anything else I want.)
I'll have to disagree with you when it comes to the "cheat-split"
If you observe the human anatomy you'll see that what you do is stretching the adductor muscles and they are important to stretch since, like you said, a lot of kicks have transitional moments and also that particular "stance" that you are in when doing a "cheat-split" is in fact a side kick (like Yop chagi) So I'd like to say that BOTH ways of the front-split are to be stretched
at around 3:10 you say to repeat the process on the other side. so it should be all the stretches on one leg, then all on the other? Is that more effective than one stretch with one leg and the same stretch with the other leg?
@kwonkicker Once I was kicking the pad. My foot got stretched or something. I don't know what happened. But, my inner thigh started hurting instantly. I lasted for a week. Then, whenever I kick high or kick hard, the pain just reapppears. Do you have any suggestions for that. Any splits or whatsoever?
@RZKKorin DEFINITELY both legs. There is NO sense in having 1 flexible leg because it will be the same as having none. Your non flexible leg will prevent your flexible leg from going to high. Also, you shouldn't even be training kicks on just 1 leg. In fact, you should train MORE on your weak side so that you can rely on BOTH sides, making you twice as deadly.
@DawgFL thank's mate... i try to get more info because i have a gym, a good partner, but not the best coach(amateur) so I try to build myself step by step
Thanks so much for this video. I'm taking MMA for about 6.5 months and im 45 years old. I have a stretch machine that I used and at the infancy of stretching I could not get to 110 degrees out now I can hold at 130 degrees. My question is at my age is it possible to get close to what your flexability is? Any information will be greatly appreciated. I will definitley try the methods you've posted. Again, thanks for taking the time to how to excecute these moves.
@kwonkicker I'm glad I still have time to achieve this feat. I appreciate the quick response I will definitely take these stretch techniques on board. Thanks.
It's good to lay down and put your your back on a wall with your legs up and let gravity slowly stretch your legs without hurting yourself ...I'm a black belt tkd practioner

THANKS A LOT! I think in a few weeks i will make a huge progress already
hey kwonkicker, I'm going to ask you a question, what if I already improve my flexibility of my legs, will it affect my kicking balance to of my legs ? what I mean is when balancing the legs for kicking to develop more power balance of my legs so that I won't get trip down or something. Please reply ASAP =D
Thanks a lot for this video, I was doing wrong stretching exercises, specially the one u said, standing up getting all the pressure to the knees, now I will do all this routine.

Hey man, i subbed your channel and i want to know how many months i can reach a good flexiblility doing your following your tutorial. (If you don't know what i meant with good, use a reference yourself)
hey kwonkicker do u have any advice for a re-occuring back injury. i got this back injury from running jump side kicks as a white belt, and i am now a yellow belt and it is still very painful. (we test every two months btw) I cant just take a week off and rest because we have classes every tuesday, thursday, friday, and saturday, and since im a lower rank i cant skip any classes even for a minor injury like mine. So its incredibly painful, before class and after i can barely walk.
If you ask someone to push you down, you will feel great pain and your muscle will be injured but you will recover overnight and you stretching will also inprove overnight. From my own experience
I am now doing this every 2 day. Did this for like 1-2 months. I can put my Leg higher but after my knee to my touse its not going any way higher. Help me :S

@kwonkicker I have no experience in martial arts whatever just started to follow your tutorials yesterday. So if do the warm up is it safe to do the final frontal stretch (even if not too fast)? I don't wanna torn my muscles.
Kwonkicker I have a question. I have a question. I naturally have stiff muscles how long did it take for you guyz to get far above averagely flexible? Also how much did you train?
@SilentHunter939 To start out, all you should need is 1 stretching session per day, 3-5 days per week. Or, 1 stretching session per day, every other day. Just remember to try and warm up properly before each stretching session. Warm up with light exercise that doesn't require much range of motion until you break a sweat. And remember, it's okay to do light stretches multiple times a day, whenever you want. Just keep the medium and heavier stretches to the schedule written above.
need some help here, I have heavy bones but used to be a rubber man in my younger years and had no problem with the splits but now I really stiffened up and nothing seems to help gain back my flexibility... I just hope it's not too late to regain my flexibility :\
This is such a good video! But that last one on 15:30 doesnt work for me because i'm naturally stretchy that way, is there some way i can get more stretchy that way? bu tthank you very much i really needed a video like this to get flexible so taht i wont have to fail in gym.

Hi there kwonkicker.. I accidentally teared my muscle.. It's pretty pain when I do streactching.. What can I do to recover the teared muscel?? Any tips there??
@kwonkicker hey im sorry i was wondering where did get our white trunks im looking for something similar but i can t find em with out muay thai all over em
ive tried the side split(low one) by sitting down n stretch like u, but my knees hurt like breaking n nothing happened to my "thighs," so how can i fix it? :D
@kwonkicker hey i like your videos man there very helpful and i have a question what kind of exercise would be most helpful for locking out your kicks and keeping them in that position because im in afka and we teach tkd to i would like to know what exercise is good for that?
I'm not flexible at all. I've been trying to do this and I'm trying to go as far as i can but i still cannot stretch very far. should i just keep stretching everyday and try to go farther progressively?
I did TKD when i was 'bout 12 years ( im 15 now and i do Thaibox) but back to the TKD , it took me 2,5 months ~ or sumfin' to do those splits , i have huge advantages now at Thaiboxing , i can kick everyone faster and harder , thankyou TKD !
thanx a lot for this tutorial... I've been training Taekwondo for 2 years, then I had to quit because of school, and now I'm planning to continue, and I need to get in shape... One question I wanted to ask: Does the age matter in flexibility? Or is it just the musle construction?
@991Click Ah... Ill just politely pitch in :) Age and Muscle Construction both apply. Older people (Not in the sense youll immediately think of :D) just take a bit longer to get flexible. But its still perfectly attainable, and its only really a rocky start. If you used to be in shape though, although its been two years, itll be easier to slide back into.
well, I think I'll be back in shape soon, we'll see. Since I got really flexible when I was training, was almost able to do side split, so I dont think I lost that much flexibility :)
@991Click Anatomically, your Muscles will still be flexible :)
They just need to be loosened back up. Based on the time frame, id expect it to take around a month or two, before you were in good High-Section Kicking shape :)
I'm in shape like you but my muscles are very stiff...holding streatches for a minute is an ordeal lol I need to practice everyday I guess I can touch my toes or open my legs as wide as you did...
this stretching is dangerous if ur not warmed up. i suggest warming up ur legs first via active stretching or light exercises to get some blood flow. itll also make stretching easier because you will feel looser and warmer instead of stretching like this while cold and stiff
@14Zwing 2 weeks to see an improvement in your kicking height. And anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to achieve a full or near side & front split, depending on your body type and genetics.

@kwonkicker hey i like your videos man there very helpful and i have a question what kind of exercise would be most helpful for locking out your kicks and keeping them in that position because im in afka and we teach tkd to i would like to know what exercise is good for that?

I'm not flexible at all. I've been trying to do this and I'm trying to go as far as i can but i still cannot stretch very far. should i just keep stretching everyday and try to go farther progressively?
yougobibinow 7 months ago
@MrWWEmatchesUploader You don't have to do them everyday. I'd recommend about 4 times a week or at least every other day.

Do i have to do that every day, or how many times in a week? Thank you for the help.

thanx a lot for this tutorial... I've been training Taekwondo for 2 years, then I had to quit because of school, and now I'm planning to continue, and I need to get in shape... One question I wanted to ask: Does the age matter in flexibility? Or is it just the musle construction?
991Click 8 months ago
@991Click Ah... Ill just politely pitch in :) Age and Muscle Construction both apply. Older people (Not in the sense youll immediately think of :D) just take a bit longer to get flexible. But its still perfectly attainable, and its only really a rocky start. If you used to be in shape though, although its been two years, itll be easier to slide back into.
Caeviens 8 months ago
@Caeviens tnx for the info :)
well, I think I'll be back in shape soon, we'll see. Since I got really flexible when I was training, was almost able to do side split, so I dont think I lost that much flexibility :)
991Click 8 months ago
@991Click Anatomically, your Muscles will still be flexible :)
They just need to be loosened back up. Based on the time frame, id expect it to take around a month or two, before you were in good High-Section Kicking shape :)
Caeviens 8 months ago
I'm in shape like you but my muscles are very stiff...holding streatches for a minute is an ordeal lol I need to practice everyday I guess I can touch my toes or open my legs as wide as you did...
Fhenry 8 months ago
this stretching is dangerous if ur not warmed up. i suggest warming up ur legs first via active stretching or light exercises to get some blood flow. itll also make stretching easier because you will feel looser and warmer instead of stretching like this while cold and stiff

just saying that kick at 0:18 sounded just like a slap to the face awesome
callisto1234 8 months ago
And if i reach my maximum flexibility, will it be gone after a long time without sporting??
14Zwing 8 months ago
Hey kwonkicker!
Plz i need to know: how long does this take?
14Zwing 8 months ago 8
@14Zwing 2 weeks to see an improvement in your kicking height. And anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to achieve a full or near side & front split, depending on your body type and genetics.
