Um dos maiores expoentes da luta livre no Brasil, e dos poucos que aceitava lutar. O fato é que muitos praticantes tops de outras artes marciais não aceitavam lutar pra não perder seu prestígio, o que com certeza aconteceria, já que o jiu-jitsu puro é imbatível contra qualquer outra arte marcial pura. @wilelmore I don't know, I think Gerard Gordeau may take the prize for dirtiest fighter. During his fight with Royce Gracie, he reportedly bit Gracie's ear. There was also his fight with Yuki Nakai where he intentionally gouged Nakai's right eye, leaving him blind in that eye. Renzo's done some messed up stuff, but Gordeau may have him beat.

Not to mention there were already established in Brazil and in Japan in the late 80's. Curious where did you train at in the 90's? Only difference is back then most people went to multiple schools.

And by the way, the mma events the gracies started many years ago, the rules were different; no time limit, no rules, and everything goes, hence the name, vale tudo. Rorion gracie sold the ufc does not emulate a real fight.
As young men, Royce and Renzo were tigers, but now that they are middle-aged they lack the "hunger" needed to succeed. Renzo should retire before he gets really hurt or embarrassed.

His exercise routine includes: Boxing, Muay thai, and wrestling (there is your respect for other arts), he doesn't believe only in jiu jitsu as you stated earlier. So judo is derived from jui-jitsu, and that means the original staple of bjj is also jui-jitsu. so like I said the submissions derived from jui-jitsu.

I do Mixed Martial Arts and the sport requires alot of discipline, motivation, and dedication. I have met Renzo before and talked in length with him. He is a gentleman without a doubt as well as a phenomenal athlete. His legacy is one to be proud of. Being a member of the Gracie family, he is one of the more notable members. It is because of Grand-Masters Carlos and Helio Gracie (RIP) that the rest of the world is able to enjoy and practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

And if it werent for the gracies, there would be no mma events like ufc. And by the way, the mma events the gracies started many years ago, the rules were different; no time limit, no rules, and everything goes, hence the name, vale tudo. Rorion gracie sold the ufc does not emulate a real fight.

His exercise routine includes: Boxing, Muay thai, and wrestling (there is your respect for other arts), he doesn't believe only in jiu jitsu as you stated earlier. Pretty obvious considering that bjj means Brazilian jui jitsu. ok, next thing. The submissions in bjj were not taken from judo, they were taken from jui-jitsu and expanded on to help subdue larger opponents. the submissions in judo come from basic jui jitsu.

So judo is derived from jui-jitsu, and that means the original staple of bjj is also jui-jitsu. so like I said the submissions derived from jui-jitsu.

@squizill Except for when he spits on his opponents during the fight, or when he kicked Nate Marquart in the face after a fight, theres nothing humble or respectful about that at all. Plus, his fight with Matt Hughes was just embarrassing, especially when he asked Hughes to help him to his feet during the fight...who does that???
