I was a victim of birth rape/trauma - i was forced into interventions that i didn't consent to and it ended in an unnecessary c-section that I FELT and they lie to me and said "well, we can't do anything about that, so we just have to cut really fast" so I screamed through the whole thing and my husband was helpless to do anything, it was a horrible horrible thing when it should have been a wonderful day. needless to say I had an HBAC with my 2nd and I will never go back!

Why is it that hospital staff can force vaginal exams, episiotomies, and other 'medical treatment' on women without their permission and it's acceptable? In any other setting it's rape and assault and battery. When I encourage women to get their surgical records following a cesarean, they are almost always shocked at what they discover, especially when it says the surgery was elective for non emergency reasons. "I thought my baby was dying" they often say.

Thank you for sharing the video, reposting! Having had 5 cesareans, and as a certified birth doula and childbirth educator, it's very important to me to lower the cesarean rate through education, and possibly even litigation. It's common for OBs to say that the only cesarean they were ever sued for was the one they didn't perform, maybe we need to change that!

Thank you for giving so much light on this subject. I, too believe that to change the system of care; it starts with training and that language could also help improve our provider care system. How one is address makes a difference on how they will go about giving birth: in fear or in trust of what their body is capable of. Marie-Paul Baxiu
