Most commonly used propaganda is that some "harsh" laws were forced on Jews (like no freedom of movement). But if we look closer, Russians also have limited freedom of movement. People have to acquire special permits to go into large cities, or move. Earlier Jews were privileged. They had special right to move, trade and bank. (in many Europian lands also).

So they were anger because they lost their privileges. They were forced to work alongside with Russians in the fields.

If you do a bit of research you will find that the British refused to save the Romanov family by letting them come to England. Alexandra was the grand-daughter of Queen Victoria and Nicholas was the cousin of the king. The British simply let down their own flesh and blood and they died because of that.
