Pagani Zonda R is the current King of the Nurburgring. I'm not joking, It's only a little over 30 seconds slower than Steffon Bellof's 956 which did 6:11 seconds on that track.

I dont think it makes sense to compare an AWD to a RWD, but your doing it. And the Vette loses, so get over it. Though I do believe the Vette to be a good car since it can easily hang with the Ferraris in its class, its just not comparable to an AWD like the GT-R.

TheOfficialKC- Bugatti Veyron and Caparo T1 both do 0-60 in 2.5 secs. The Ultima GTR720 holds the record of 0-100-0 mph. but, yes, 73.4 in a slalom is good, that's basically what the Ferrari Enzo did.
vitaobater- yes, the Veyron has hit Nurburgring. it did its lap in 7:40.
The Caparo T1 will break the record when it is finally tested. The Ultima GTR720 holds the record with a two way pass average. The Veyron is a tiny bit slower with 2.6-2.8 times. It hasn't broken the record.

The superior drivetrain is what makes it possible. It gets the power to the ground better than all of those other cars u mentioned because most if not all are 2 wheel drive. The extra weight actually helps decrease wheel spin + it's very sophisticated all wheel drive ATTESSA system coupled with nissans launch control.
I hear that it is a very sophisticated system, but as much as I can apprecaite its greatness, until I see the car and system for myself, I will have to remain neutral on the subject.
2 things the all wheel drive is hooking up better and it has dual clutch paddle shift which would take about 1/2 second off the
shift from 1st to 2nd, now those older cars you mentioned did not have this luxury so the way they did it was to have 1st gear long enough to do over 60mph in first, no shift to get to 60mph
To me paddle is not a luxury. Stick is 100x more fun to drive. Who cares if it knocks off 1/2 second on the shift. The Z06 still beats it in the 1/4 mile. Thats with less power, less wheels driving, leaf springs, and manual with no launch control. On the track the GT-R barely wins.
Yeah and it doesn't get much better times. Weigh fun factor and times and I'll take the Vette. You gain a little ground and lose out in the experience.

All Ultimas are street legal. They cost $120,000. Weigh 2100lbs, and have up to 800hp. I don't think they have radio or a/c but you could easily add radio. Many people buy it and use it as a daily driver. When the Ultima braoke the acceleration records it drove on the street to the event. When it broke the Top Gear lap time it drove to the Top Gear track.
a 2100lbs 800hp car should out perform the GT-R. but the question is by how much.

The GT-R has more power and AWD. The Corvette has less weight. If you have ever read anything you would know that the Corvette handles really well. It still manages to go as fast as the GT-R. Against Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos, and even the GT-R it is the only car that posts over 1g on the skidpad. So the Corvette handles good. It's main limitation is the tires. They aren't that good like the GT-R's tires.

On paper the GT-R is faster.

TheOfficialKC- Bugatti Veyron and Caparo T1 both do 0-60 in 2.5 secs. The Ultima GTR720 holds the record of 0-100-0 mph. but, yes, 73.4 in a slalom is good, that's basically what the Ferrari Enzo did.
vitaobater- yes, the Veyron has hit Nurburgring. it did its lap in 7:40.

The Caparo T1 will break the record when it is finally tested. The Ultima GTR720 holds the record with a two way pass average. The Veyron is a tiny bit slower with 2.6-2.8 times. It hasn't broken the record.

Thank you finally someone besides myself recognizes the Ultima's speed. Thank you. By the way the Caparo was tested a few months ago, 0 to 60 in 2.5sec, 0 t0 100 in 5.000sec, top speed is something like 214mph if I remember correctly, don't quote me on the top speed but I know the acceleration figures are true to what I read.

The Caparo was in a magazine which picked up and read in a book store and the Ultima acceleration figure is on the Ultima website. I think Caparo has since put their acceleration on their website as well. Did you know it has a power to weight ration which is 2X greater than the Veyron, 1000BHP per ton. LOL how much does that rock.

i would diff. like to see ultima go round the ring.
the caparo would do good but it would have to stay together for the whole 7:00+.
every video or info on it said it was the fastest thing they ever drove BUT
it catchs fire and breaks things all the time.

The new American Spec GTR weighs in at 3900 lbs has 480 hp and 430 ft lbs of torque (at the wheels). 0-60 record holder at 3.2 seconds. Breaking from 60 is 98 ft (Also a record). and Slalom is 74 mph (not a record Viper beat it by 1 mph) Just thought that should be put out there because some one said a car with those specs does not exist anywhere... Unless I misread if thats the case my bad :)

The GT-R does weigh about 3800lbs. It has a claimed 480hp but to have the stats it does it will make way over 500hp. Its fastest 0-60 is 3.3sec that I've seen. Not a record. The record is the Ultima GTR720 at 2.6sec. The R&T slalom time was 73.4mph which is fast. The braking was 108 feet not a record. This is all for Road & Track.

some tests get 3.8 seconds to 60 consistently, and about 105 ft to zero from 60, those are the very best specs for the gtr. im not bashing it, im just saying that the zo6 and 911 turbo have gotten the same 0-60 times and the viper also stops in under 100 ft (we havent gotten to the acr package yet). but is still unbelievable how such a heavy car can cleary handle and brake better than supercars that weigh half a ton less. how the **** are they destroying PORSCHE at their own game?

I question that too, considering the Noble M400 only has 425 BHP 0 to 60 in 3.5 sec and weights 2300lbs while in retrospec the GTR weighs a ridiculous 3800 pounds 495BHP based on physics alone the claim that Nissan is making is nuts, 0 to 60 in 3.6 is faster than an Enzo which has 650BHP and weighs 3200lbs, a Jaguar XJ220 550bhp 0 to 60 in 3.6 and weighs 3020lbs and before the Mclaren, it was the fastest car in the world? So how is it possible?

The superior drivetrain is what makes it possible. It gets the power to the ground better than all of those other cars u mentioned because most if not all are 2 wheel drive. The extra weight actually helps decrease wheel spin + it's very sophisticated all wheel drive ATTESSA system coupled with nissans launch control.

2 things the all wheel drive is hooking up better and it has dual clutch paddle shift which would take about 1/2 second off the
shift from 1st to 2nd, now those older cars you mentioned did not have this luxury so the way they did it was to have 1st gear long enough to do over 60mph in first, no shift to get to 60mph

To me paddle is not a luxury. Stick is 100x more fun to drive. Who cares if it knocks off 1/2 second on the shift. The Z06 still beats it in the 1/4 mile. Thats with less power, less wheels driving, leaf springs, and manual with no launch control. On the track the GT-R barely wins.

i just found out the 3.2 and 3.3 times are with a one foot rollout (like on an NHRA drag strip). oh well, im not even sure exactly what this means, but it is 0.3 seconds quicker to 60.

All Ultimas are street legal. They cost $120,000. Weigh 2100lbs, and have up to 800hp. I don't think they have radio or a/c but you could easily add radio. Many people buy it and use it as a daily driver. When the Ultima braoke the acceleration records it drove on the street to the event. When it broke the Top Gear lap time it drove to the Top Gear track.

a 2100lbs 800hp car should out perform the GT-R. but the question is by how much.
if the Ult GTR isnt disgustingly faster than the Nissan GT-R which is damn near twice the weight, weighing in at 3900 plus and only puts 480 to the ground. thats bad for the Utl. i mean look at the Z06. its has 505 bhp, weighs 3100lbs and only has two seats.
it should perform ten times better than it does but doesnt.
people wouldnt dare drive an UTL cross country like you can the GT-R or 911 TT

Nissan put in so much more technologie than the Corvette in the way of electronics and AWD. The Corvette is more fun to drive. The Ultima will destroy the Nissan in a straight or on a track. Nissan could not build a 2100lb 800hp machine like its GT-R because AWD and electronics and luxury ads weight. In order to be 2100lbs and 800hp it will be like an Ultima. The Nissan would be boring to drive because it has no feel and it drives itself.

haha listen to yourself. the Corvette is more fun to drive. most people who own z06's are scared of it. the limits of the z06 and close to grasp. driving a z06 is one foot in thegrave and one out.
you can drive much faster i nthe GT-R b/c its limits are harder to find.
so when you go to the track with your z06, you can have more fun in your slower z06 which will be getting stomped by the GT-R.
the Corvette was never on the skylines level. and wait til the GT-R goes to Le Mans.

Even though it is a little slower it is more fun. RWD is more fun. Manual is more fun. Chevy till this day is the #1 brand on the market. GM has sold more vehicles worldwide since forever and hasn't given up that spot. Nissan is way behind.

The Corvette has been outperforming anything in or above its class for years. Nissan is copying their idea. The RWD, leafspring suspensioned Z06 with limited traction control is almost as fast as the AWD, semi-slick wearing, independent suspension, traction control, DSG GT-R. If Chevy made that it would kill the GT-R.

From looking at the facts Spec V vs. ZR1 should be a close matchup. At the same time for testing they should be close but I would put my money on the ZR1 unless Nissan is underrating horsepower again.

chevy isn't too technical, they still use leaf springs on the vette to this day, and
thats usually reserved for wagons and trucks.

You act like leaf springs are bad. You know it doesn't really matter the meathod so much as it works good. And the Corvette works good. Even with leaf springs it outhandles Ferraris, Lambos, and can keep up with the AWD 550hp GT-R. The previous GT-R was a good car because it was a stripped lightweight race car for the street. The new one is nothing like it.

The GT-R has more power and AWD. The Corvette has less weight. If you have ever read anything you would know that the Corvette handles really well. It still manages to go as fast as the GT-R. Against Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos, and even the GT-R it is the only car that posts over 1g on the skidpad. So the Corvette handles good. It's main limitation is the tires. They aren't that good like the GT-R's tires.

I am trying to convince you but you just don't understand. Even though the Z06 on paper should be blown away buy the GT-R it isn't. I generally don't take skidpad into consideration, or slalom, or 0-60. 1/4 mile and track times matter. The corvette wins in 1/4 mile and is barely beat on track.

How about you don't know what you are talking about. The Vette is faster 1320. 11.7sec vs. 12.6sec. Way faster. On paper the GT-R has all the driving aids, AWD, more power, mid engine, better suspension, and better tires. The Corvette only has less weight. The GT-R should be faster but isn't.

The GT-R does 12.6 1/4 mile. The GT-R makes more power. In japam it is dyno'd at 480whp. 15% (low for AWD) drivetrain loss equals 570hp. (torque X RPM)/5252=hp. 530hp. 10hp per 100hp to maintain performance=585hp. Average 560hp=More than the 505hp Corvette. GT-R has lower drag. .27 and corvette is .31 The GT-R has a lower CdA. On paper the GT-R is faster.

Magazines have tested the GT-R from high 11s to high 12s in the quarter leaving them to believe they are getting pumped up versions before the release to over hype the car. Either that or they are getting the spec V. Do more than just read. Learn how the whole car functions so you don't believe advertising/hype BS.

Do you understand the difference between AWD and RWD? AWD gets more traction = faster. Extreme electronic aids = faster. But that all = Weight. That is why there is no 3000lb 500+ car with those components. Delete those to get weight down and you have a Corvette. Get better tires for the Vette like the GT-R and the Vette will be as fast. If you think a 70K car that is as fast as most 300k cars doesn't perform to its expectations you are dumb.

I understood you. You didn't understand me. In order to make a 505hp 300lb car it would have to have no AWD and all the electronics of the GT-R. Therefore it would be similar to the Corvette. With the amount of technology gone into the GT-R to make it this fast I doubt a 300lb, 505hp, RWD Nissan would be as fast as a Z06. But if chevy made an AWD, electronic sportscar it would smoke the GT-R.

The Zonda has more power and is lighter and is closer to the ground so it has a lower center of gravity, making for easier cornering; that's why it's slightly faster than the gtr... but then you have to look at the price comparison, the Zonda is nearly 10 times the price!

agreed in this the GT-R looks to be alittle faster in the turns. but the with the new time of 729 the nissan just pulled off with the stock GT-R. it shows how conservative they were being with the car in this video being that the track had wet spots. i cant wait to see the new video of the GT-R running 729

Great video, but the zonda F's record just got beaten... by a bmw M3... I kid you not, by 5 seconds, 70 less horsepower, weighing 400 lbs more. The video is on Autoblog... It handles like nothing I've ever seen I only counted 4 or 5 corners where there was significant braking. Oh did I mention that it was held up by 3 cars it had to overtake?

The Radical SR8 lapped Nurburgring in 6:55 in 2006. Thats the real record. Also in 2005 a Radical SR3 Turbo lapped it in 7:19.8. That was the record.
