To be more specific: In the two videos played by David Russell only one piece is found in Melbay's 16 Lyric Pieces.....op.12 no.2 (waltz). David Russell plays this piece in part 1, starting at 3:20.
I am ever grateful for this. The compositions have been favorites of mine for a long time, and these versions are just fantastic. Keep up the good work! Hope you come to Bergen soon and play the Lyric Pieces... :-)

Segovia was the man, but this guy puts him and Williams in the heap. Russell is the KING!

Hi David,
I'm sure you don't remember me (you gave me a couple of lessons quite a few years ago now!)
This is one of my favourite guitar videos on youtube. Bravo for doing such an amazing job for the guitar all around the world.
Best wishes
Denian

So I ordered the Melbay Edvard Grieg 16 Lyric Pieces....anyone know if these are included?
bakdgreat 3 years ago
Very few. I have all of Grieg's lyric pieces, and the ones in Melbay's are not among the best ones I think....

what are the differnet kinds of tops again? Its spruce, rosewood and whats the third?
bakdgreat 4 years ago
spruce and cedar are the most typical. Rosewood is only used for the back and sides as it's not resonant enough to be a soundboard.
jaangunnar 4 years ago
Not the dammann I'm used to hearing you play! The spruce suits well. Who's the luthier?

This is truly beautiful.
