@srhs74 during leg exercises, the ligaments going over your knee cap is what holds all that weight. The wraps are there to tighten down on these ligaments as you bend your legs. You should only use wraps on your heavy sets. This way, the ligaments build up strength to during the rest of your workout.
From a NASM certified trainer and follow bodybuilder, I see a lot of things wrong with his form. First off the placement of the hands on the knees. You're pushing with your triceps and chest muscles therefore taking away from leg day training. Also you're coming to far down. Full range of motion is good, but not to the point your back rounds.
@Julmuu It's suppose to be in a neutral position at all times. Which means if you squat your head should be in line from your hips to your shoulders making a straight line. Hope this makes sense.
@pyroincorporated: there is a small "blocker" about half-way down the trek of the bars to prevent the weights from reaching your body should you decide to fail.
theres no way he will be able to push very hard with his chest there its going to be almost all leg effort. putting ur hands on the knees can help the stability so its not a bad idea.

Yeah, I'm a junior now, and my buddy got 1000 the other day. I havn't maxed but I want to. I'm 6'3'' and 238lbs. I squat 325 and hve repped 500 on the leg press 16 times. I might be able to get this once.

I also wouldn't say I train hard. I just lift moderate to heavy for an hour a day and take weekends off. Nothing serious. Also I don't diet or anything so that 240lbs. isn't all muscle, but I'm not fat either.
some peoples strength varies a LOT...i know people half my size that bench 200lbs more than i do or that curl 50lbs more than me with dumbells but im not doing anything wrong. Strength is genetic, working to a goal like 405 for any number of reps is impressive.

Awesome rehab man, but leg press is NOT good for you because it puts your body in an unnatural position and you let the machine balance the weight for you. Learn to squat properly and full depth. Leg press is just for the ego.
When your going that deep do your heels come off the platform a little? The reason I ask is once I get to where my knee is at about 90deg angle I can't get any deeper without my heels coming up.
That is very impressive and way to still compete in natural bodybuilding!
on the contrary, not going past 90 degrees has a shearing effect on your knees. the important part to look at is when you stop and reverse motion, that is when your knee gets the strain, and if your legs are greater than or equal to 90 degrees, your knees take all the pressure

I am a national competing all-natural bodybuilder. When I am on stage, No one has the size or sweep on their legs that I do. To get good size, you must use full range of motion on all lifts.
By "Proper" I am showing depth of the squat and foot position. During the movement your knees do not pass your toes. At the bottom, your legs are slightly passed 45 degrees. This brings the hamstrings into play. Now, about my hands, my comment on this video says I have a Full Right Hip Reconstruction. My hands are preventing my legs from going outward because I have no hip flexer muscle on the right side.

Most knee pain on squats is felt on top of the knee cap. This pain is caused by leaning forward on to your toes while going down to the squat position. Make sure you are pushing with your heels on the floor and the movement starts at your hips, not your knees. Squating is still the best for overall leg development.

I also wouldn't say I train hard. I just lift moderate to heavy for an hour a day and take weekends off. Nothing serious. Also I don't diet or anything so that 240lbs. isn't all muscle, but I'm not fat either.

some peoples strength varies a LOT...i know people half my size that bench 200lbs more than i do or that curl 50lbs more than me with dumbells but im not doing anything wrong. Strength is genetic, working to a goal like 405 for any number of reps is impressive.

Ppl can do them however they want, thats one thing i hate about working out in public gyms, all the bitches that talk for 5 minutes between sets about what other ppl are doing, how they look, or how much they improve...

Awesome rehab man, but leg press is NOT good for you because it puts your body in an unnatural position and you let the machine balance the weight for you. Learn to squat properly and full depth. Leg press is just for the ego.

When your going that deep do your heels come off the platform a little? The reason I ask is once I get to where my knee is at about 90deg angle I can't get any deeper without my heels coming up.
That is very impressive and way to still compete in natural bodybuilding!

on the contrary, not going past 90 degrees has a shearing effect on your knees. the important part to look at is when you stop and reverse motion, that is when your knee gets the strain, and if your legs are greater than or equal to 90 degrees, your knees take all the pressure

I would think the lesser the angle of the knee the more the kneecap itself is pressed against the exposed joint surface.

The knee is at its strongest when fully bent or fully straightened. So stopping at 90 degrees, as ibreakkidslegs said, is infact bad for the knee.

Another loser trying to pump up his ego. You can show proper form without so much weight. Obviously since you have to use your hands and only pumped out 4 reps ..... last one with help.... You need to back it off some. And what's with the grunting? I personally rep 1000 ibs and no one in the gym ever hears it. Loose the ego, dude.

By "Proper" I am showing depth of the squat and foot position. During the movement your knees do not pass your toes. At the bottom, your legs are slightly passed 45 degrees. This brings the hamstrings into play. Now, about my hands, my comment on this video says I have a Full Right Hip Reconstruction. My hands are preventing my legs from going outward because I have no hip flexer muscle on the right side.

Most knee pain on squats is felt on top of the knee cap. This pain is caused by leaning forward on to your toes while going down to the squat position. Make sure you are pushing with your heels on the floor and the movement starts at your hips, not your knees. Squating is still the best for overall leg development.
