I am living in Australia, born in Malaysia but Chinese. Normally I would just tell people that I'm Chinese but if they wanted to know specifically then it would be "Ethnicity: Chinese", "Origin: Malaysia" and "Nationality: Australian". Does this make sense? ^_^

I hate it when people say 'oh, I'm not Chinese, I'm Taiwanese because my parents are from Taiwan'. Taiwanese means you're from Taiwan, its not your ethnicity, Taiwanese is like a place you are from, not a ethnic background. To be consider Taiwanese, you have to born there or have a Taiwan passport ... but in the end, you're still Chinese

Chinese is a title that represents all "Chinese." People are mixing it with politics. People from Taiwan think that being called as Chinese makes them belong to China and being the people of PRC. That is a big NO. Look at the word Chinese as a cultural thing and keep politics aside.
