  • This was the first time a President was killed so when his coffin was being opened and being moved the Government didn't know what to do, so it took them a few times of Lincolns body to be dug up for them to figure out what they had to do to stop it.

  • There were several attempts of stealing Lincoln's body but the most famous one was when a group of counterfeiters from Chicago planned to steal Lincolns body and hold it for Ransom for $200,000 in exchange for the gangs main guy. Lincoln was very important and people didn't want to let him go and rest in peace so that is why he is buried under concrete and steal. His body was dug up a couple times and moved while the guards were supposed to be watching.

  • Have to remember also how many times was his grave robbed? twice? ewww Finally they wised up and buried him under tons of concrete. His tomb is so impressive!! That was the first time I think, I ever say a person buried into a Wall and here was Mary and Tad and one more can't remember his name, this was way back in the 70's

  • @Ilovedthe70s76 Wait why would anyone Rob a dead President?

  • Mary and his sons are buried there also across from him in the wall

  • Mary and his sons are buried there also

  • I've been there

  • For me, I love the Lincolns, not just Abraham but Mary and the boys, and I love the history and the stories about their lives. In fact I share many personality traits with Willie and Tad, as a youngester and an adult. Willie wrote a journal and you can read it today in the book about Willie, the ONLY book about him; its called "Mystic Chords Of Memory" and its my all time favorite book. I got it in January of 2011 and I have read it several times over. Willie confirmed a lot of things. RIP AL.

  • @MrImsomeone

Lucys grave is 2 blocks from my home I could literally go there film it and show it to you like, right now... if you wanted.

  • Wow, this is so awesome.

  • I want to bring my Confederate battle flag when I visit the tyrant's grave and have my picture taken. States rights never died. Sic Semper Tyrannis.

  • it was pretty cool when i went there

  • may all tyrants be disposed there

  • Do you think he is still there? or did he dissintigrate

  • See details at wikipedia...Lincolns coffin was moved 17 times, and opened 6 times, between arrival at Springfield, and final placement 10 feet underground in a steel cage surrounded by concrete to prevent its theft. This is somewhat behind the red granite cenotaph. It is said that his body was embalmed so many times during the long trip from Wash DC to Springfield, that it was almost mummified...and he was very recognizable when the coffin was last opened in 1901.

  • I was there years ago and you weren't allowed to take pictures inside.

  • Wow im just curious but I wonder what his body looks like now

  • @ducard93 right!!

  • @ducard93 very much decayed.....lol

  • @ducard93 very much decayed.....lol and I alwas wonder that too its gotta be so creepy

  • @ducard93 There would be nothing left of him now. Just the clothes and bones

  • You should go back and video where Abe Lincoln was at before he was placed here...pretty bad for someone of his fame.

  • 10000000 times better then Bush and Obama

  • ive been in there a couple of times.. how did you manage to sneak the cam in there?

  • I live in Illinois and I have been to the Lincoln tomb numerous times. I never tire of it nor do I ever stop marveling at the sounds inside. Amazing.

  • do you have to pay?

  • wow!! he was burriedd in there? the realy did it big forr abe! may his soul rest in peace

  • thank you for sharing this video! I will probably never have a chance to see it in real life and I have always been fasninated by the man!

  • Are there any living Descendants of Lincoln? If there arent't that's a darn shame.

  • this may be funny to you but its tom hanks

  • its true

Lincolns like his half-relative of some sort

    which is very cool

  • @333AndMan Abe and Mary had only one son who lived to adulthood-Robert Lincoln.

  • @Gracie05452

No, there are no living descendants of Lincoln. The last was a grandson, I believe, who died some years/decades ago. Forgot exactly.

Maybe there are descendants from siblings or cousins, but not any direct descendants.

  • @hen8167 if you dont like it dont look at it.

  • There aren't.

  • i wnt to see a gost and yes i can spel i just dont feel like spelling things rite today

  • ghosts are real!!! i swear! once you get down to scientific!!!! think,,,, all the nutrons and clinicly described function of the human brain enables us to live out our own way of life!!!! its simple!!!! her.... 8n x the number of the clinicmeraculaiant formula, give himans the ability to live after death! it is simple.

  • wow tht was scientific firedril. now i know why my house is haunted... what makes good and bad ghosts?

  • oh, that part is easy. the spirits keep there identity. if you were good in life, yo are a good ghost. the stereotype is, ghost are bad. But think, there are more kind people in this world, than bad.

  • learn to spell

  • i dont need to spell right its called txting lern how to use it its convenient

  • texting is from cell phone to cell phone. learn to speak english

  • it doesnt have to be cell fone to cell fone. its called people dont want to type real words no one has enough time for tht exept nerds who have to spell everything rite

  • yes it does. what you are describing is typical 15 year old apathetic nature

  • I was just there today for a school fieldtrip

  • Abe Lincoln is my favorite US president. He had a tough presidency. His son Willie died in 1862. He had to deal with the civil war and he felt terrible about all the deaths from it. And finally when the war is finally over he gets assianated. Poor guy. At least now he has found peace.

  • I heard he's buried behind and somewhat to the right of the tomb. Is this true?

  • Where is this located? Were any guards around when you were here? Thank you for traveling to all the places and sharing the graves with us because I might never get to visit these graves. I did see James Dean grave in 2000.

  • well at least when you went there wasnt some old guy behind the ropes shushing ppl when there camera flashed

  • i went there last weekend on vacation

  • I wholeheartedly agree.

  • The Russians moved Stalin's

body from its place of honor.

  • Abe is 10 feet beneath the stone encased in concrete to prevent thieves from stealing his body.

  • This is true. The body was once taken and held for ransom. To prevent this from happening again, the concrete was laid over.

    Wolfe

  • you serious? how many hundreds of years has it been since he died, you'll be suprised if atleast they find dust in the casket

  • Dude it's been little more than 140 somthing years since his death not hundreds. Doubt he's anywhere near dust.

  • i never did like science class

  • @Gracie05452 again

  • You are welcome. We have been to New York a couple of times, but have not made it to Lucy's grave yet.

  • @death2ur

I live in her hometown, her grave is a 10 minute walk from my home i could film it for you if you ever wanted to see it!.

  • is this real

  • Very much so.

  • Also, those flags behind the Sarcophogus represent all the states the Lincoln family lived in since their arrival in the Colonies in 1730, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois, and the other two are the National Flag, and the Presidential Flag.

  • The tomb, I remember reading, is made from Massachussetts Sandstone on the exterior, and Georgia Marble inside. The Sarcophogus shown at 0:51, is made of Red Tennessee Marble, if I remember right. Lincoln himself is behing the sarcophougus, facing West, under 20 feet of concrete and steel girders. Mary's body is with him, Robert was originally buried there, but his family had him moved to Arlington three months after his death. Tad, Willie, & Ed are with their parents.

  • I read an article recently about some historian wanting to get his hands on some Lincoln DNA from museum pieces to test a theory that Lincoln had a condition that would have killed him in a couple of years. Sounds dubious to me.

There are no confirmed Lincoln decendants left. The last was a great-grandson who died 1985. There was some controversy with a child his wife had in 1968, though. A court ruled he was likely not the father but the son has never been tested to confrim or deny it.

  • Hey, that's interesting info. Thanks for the comment.

  • It was just on TV how they have him down 10 feet and cemented in in concrete after someone tried to steal him several years ago. Several Lincolns(I think 6 others )are buired with him at this site!

  • Have been there in October 2001.Isnt t it ironic that that idiot liberal currently in the White House has been aligned with 3 Americans who got gunned down in 1865,1963 and 1968.Could history be repeating itself here?He has not got a things in common with Lincoln because the 16th President fought to end slavery while that idiot Dumbo obama is for very much for abortion. One is for freedom while the other is for death.

  • Obama Rules!

  • That does not change the fact that Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth,John Kennedy killed by Lee Harvey Oswald and Martin Luther King was killed by James Earl Jones.

  • And your point is...

  • MLK was killed by James Earl Ray. James Earl Jones is the guy who is the voice of Darth Vader.

  • I don't know why you received a thumbs down on your comment. It is more than accurate.

  • @OCdodgerfan88

    ...people

  • Ron Paul - 2012

  • I wonder what Mary Lincoln's body looks like after all these years?

  • @cjzzzzz Probably not too much left of Mary Lincoln's body after all these years.

  • where were u guys located did it stink inside the tomb

  • We were right by the tombs. I don't recall any odor, though, other than my friends.

  • Duh

  • Hey thanks death2ur, I been there before teh tomb was huge and lincoln's casket was long of course of his height. It was really cool

  • Where is Abe Lincoln's tomb in Illinois or somewhere else?

  • It is in Springfield, Illinois.

  • Who's Mary Lincoln? Is she the mother? Is Abraham buried on the floor or behind he's name?

  • I believe Mary, is Mary Todd. Abe is buried deep in the floor in a heavily fortressed cement tomb. Someone had attempted to steal the body in its previous location.

  • Mary Lincoln is Abaham's wife...Abraham is buried at least 12 feet under the memorial its self(if not more), like death2ur said grave robbers tried to steal his body(Abe's) to get huge amount of money..didn't work though

  • Do you know what is very creepy? The week before Lincoln died, he had a dream. In the dream, Lincoln went down into his living room to find a corpse wrapped up in sheets. Lincoln then asked a man standing there who it was that died. The man replied, "It is the president. He was shot." (Or something of that sort.) How is that not creepy?

  • were is this, arlington?

  • It is in Springfield, Illinois.

  • the only grave I would go to great lenghts to visit is one that is unmarked and location unknown..that being Mozart's...

  • good luck with that ren, mozart died poor and recieved a common person burial. So with that being said good luck find a grave it could be anywhere being the fact common poor people of mozarts time were buired in large burial plots or anywhere.

  • Mozart was buried with lye in a pauper's grave. His remains decomposed quickly and no longer exist.

  • exactly my point.

  • just a question, why did they bury him with lye? Knowing he was famous?

  • He was popular, but not famous...and he was heavily in debt, with no family willing to front the money for a decent burial.

IMHO if Mozart had ever made copies of his works, he would have not died a pauper and would not have had to have been buried in a pauper's grave.

  • It is true he died poor. However, Joseph II, the ruler at the time, decreed that for reasons of sanitation, economy, and rationality, Burial masses would be held in churches, and then the bodies would then be transported (by way of a reusable wooden coffin) to mass graves outside the city. Only members of the HIGHEST nobility were able to escape such disposal.

  • this is the only "famous" grave ive seen in real life, but id really like to see dimebag darrells. i am a huge fan and im related to him

  • Dimebag has a really cool gravesite. How are you related to him?

  • hes my third or fourth cousin. my mothers side of the family is full of abbotts. but unfortunetly i never got to meet dime. though me and my other cousin (dimes brother) Vinnie Paul talk through letters all the time

  • That's cool. Thanks for sharing. How's Vinnie doing?

  • last time i heard from him was febuary and he said hellyea is brainstorming new ideas for a project

  • That's good to hear, I know that he must have been absolutely devestated.

  • lol "is he even in here?"

  • He's there, buried deep below the surface in reinforced cement vault. Someone had tried to steal the body when it was in the old tomb.

  • Yes he is way underground because of grave robbers

  • He and Mary are ten feet below the floor, their casckets in a metal cage which in turn is embedded in a concrete slab. Ain't nobody ever gonna try and steal his body again.

  • Rookie, no idea how to film. You missed some great shots because you can't hold still.

  • Yes, Youtube is for professional film makers. No average, everyday people here. Piss off.

  • he had to do it discreetly as you are not allowed to film inside.

  • where is that and y was he buried in a tomb

  • It is in Springfield,Illinois

  • ok but that was a sad night when that happened

  • I am not sure, but I think Abe Lincoln's corpse was exhumed at one point in time. Correct me if I am wrong, but this crypt was not the original grave because people and grave robbers were always a constant threat of desecrating the original site.

  • You are correct. The original tomb is on the back side of this one. If you watch our video for the Exterior of Lincoln's tomb, you will see it.

  • It's unbelivible how big the damn place is.

  • Probably the grandest gravesite we've ever visited.

  • Thank you for sharing this interestimng video!

  • You are very welcome.

  • Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for giving me a chance to see something historic that I might never have a chance to see in person

  • You are quite welcome. It was our pleasure and honor to visit Mr. Lincoln's tomb.

  • I Agree as well..I have always wanted to see Lincolns tomb & don't think I'll ever get to.. (have seen Andrew Jackson's, Jefferson's,Grant's, JFK's & want to see Washington's, FDR's, & LBJ's)...this is very good opportunity to show us something historical such as this - how often can we go and see these things when we want ? Thank You Very Much : WE APPRECIATE IT !!

  • You are welcome. It is our honor.

  • Great video!!! I visited the Lincoln Tomb about 4 years ago; it is a monument to Mr. Lincoln that is truly impressive, even by today's standards.

  • Thanks. Yes, it is one of the most spectacular tombs or graves we have ever visited.

  • SCARY!

  • I forgot to mention this before cause I couldnt remember, Abraham is actual buried two feet behind the marble marker and ten feet under the floor and 11 feet inside the wall with his head lying to the west. His wife Mary, is buried inside the South Wall along with their three sons (Abraham and Mary had four boys together in the span of ten years)Eddie and Willie actual share a crypt. I believe their caskets are on top of one another. RIP Abraham, God bless Mary and your boys.

  • thank you for giving me this video

  • Any time.

  • your very welcome. I'v always been a admirer of Mr. Lincoln and Mrs. Lincoln. I have many books on both of them and have been collecting a lot of Lincoln Memorilbilia over the years. My favorite of their four boys is Tad. God bless You Mr. Lincoln, your wife Mary and your boys.

  • actual President Lincoln is 10 feet under the floor and 11 feet inside the wall with his head lying to the west. His boys Eddie (who died at 4), Willie (who died at 11 in the white house) and Tad (who died at 18) and his wife Mary are all buried in the south wall. God Bless you Mr. Lincoln, you did your best and won. God bless your boys and wife to

  • Thanks for the information. We were wondering where exactly he was in the tomb.

  • Hey 2ur. I went to Springfield in 03 and saw his grave, Mary's grave and their three sons Eddie, Willie and Tad. Tad is my favorite of the four lincoln sons. To this day, this is gonna side stange but you know everyone says his ghost hangs at the tomb well I saw Old Abe, and Willie I'm pretty sure. thanks for posting this
