The only thing I do not like about the lear jet is the single wheel on the nose gear. When they come in for maintanence they allways have proplems due to the nose coming down to hard. I wish they put a double wheel on it.
They are Delta wings. They are at a differrent angle than the other wings. When an aircraft as many rear engined planes do enter a deep stall, they keep pushing the rear of the aircraft up. This aids immensly in stall recovery. Early on jets with delta wings weren't required to have a stick shaker. Lear 31 was I believe one of them. Double check my info.
That's a scenario from one of my favorite books, "Island of the Sequined Love Nun" by Christopher Moore. Pick it up if you love quirky humor and airplanes!
i need to pick the right six numbers for the lotto because i want one of those! i'm guessing the girls wouldn't object either ..... why do i torture myself like this?!
uh get agood job or mroe than one job and maybe start off with cessnas and have a career in flying and stuff then u can get ehough money to get one of those planes..
thats nice sir im 14 and im planing to be a pilot were are you from and what schools do u recommend me to go thanx cuzz im planing to go to mccreery aviation co. down in texas mcallen, texas and what do you also recommend for me to start studying as right know cheerz have good flights!!!...
i love to fly the lear45 on FSx, its soo fun, i can make my landings so soft. i use to love flying the heavies but now i like flying the smaller planes like the lear45, CRJ700, P-180, and all the cessnas and props. i think the bigest plane i enjoy flying is the A300-600ST (beluga)(CLS)
They are the tail wings but they had to be moved up to the tail to fit the engines in where they should be. They level off the plane and they also have the elevators on them allowing the planes pitch and trim motion. (Up and Down).
actually they are called detla fins, and they are for reducing the dutch roll tendancy on the aircraft, the lear 35 that doesnt have them has to have both yaw dampers working for dispatch, the lear 31 that has these fins only has one yaw damper and it doesnt have to be operating for dispatch due to that those delta fins reduce the dutch roll tendency significantly.
@DanielDaniel1 They're called delta fins. Their primary purpose is to prevent the aircraft from going into a deep stall, but a secondary function is to reduce the dutch roll tendencies of the aircraft. They are standard on the 40, 45, and 60, and they can be added to older Lears as well (I know for a fact they can be added to the 35, not so sure about others).
@DanielDaniel1 They are called "delta fins" and they reduce the need for yaw damping. All swept wing aircraft have a tendency to "dutch roll" which is an oscillation that combines yawing with rolling. Early Lears had 2 yaw damper systems and no delta fins. The newer ones have the delta fins and only 1 yaw damper system.

we see these all the time by my school, we're right next to an airport separated by a road, and the planes fly over us less than 200 feet.

Vaya, le has pillao muy bien. Estéticamente me agradan los Lear, pero necesitan mucha pista para despegue y aterrizaje.
Los más bonitos jets son sin duda los Falcon, el F900 uno de los que más.

@42Alexanderawa And yes, they actually are called "delta fins." The winglets are on the ends of the wings. I fly Lears for a living.

Those panels are called flaps and they help the aircraft to be able to fly slower. The wing is not a delta (or triangular). Its a swept wing.

They are called Aft Strakes, and they dont really do anything more than help keep stability at high speeds and in turbulent air.

what are those pannels that angle out under the tail?
DanielDaniel1 4 years ago
I think that is an aerodynamic apendice that help the plane to go steady

i dont know for sure but i think they said that it saved fuel or something

@iur7 You sound like it's getting married with go steady LOL. But yeah, just extra vertical stabs for less unwanted yaw movement.

Fins..... for stability! I worked at Learjet on the first 30 aircraft of the 45 line. The 31A is the cool one!
