BF2 load times are one of the longest in any game i've known...
actualy scratch that. The "Optimising shaders" load (new patch, tweeking settings, reinstalling) is THE single longest time i've spent watching a game load.
I estimated that it took me 45 minutes on a Intel Pentium Duo 3 ghz, 8800GT 512MB and 1 gig of ram to load the god damn game...
And then it dropped me out of the game... I went bezerk.
That was not fast, considering you played singeplayer that have half the boot-time as the multiplayer. I can join a multiplayer game in the same time.
Mine loads only a little slower than that (using a Samsung Spinpoint T166). What CPU do you have Barbatolux? What speed is it at? Do you know if it is maxed out when BF2 loading?
That's not i-RAM but raid 0 the only reason it's just as fast as i-RAM is because i-RAM is bottlenecked by SATA, else the loading would have at least 20 times faster. Plus loading a game is not just a lot of work for the hard drive, people with faster CPU's benefit from faster loading times too.
umm. why don't you just make a video proving it instead of bragging about something noone believes. Iram has less than 1 ms seek time and in addition this is 4 of them in a raid 0. I know for a fact that a puny 7200RPM drive would not do the same thing.
acctually dude he was right. I-ram needs a PCI-E slot to really prove itself but even then its still going to be slower than its potential. RAM runs in Gigabuytes per second. DDR runs at about 6gb/s i beleive. SATA 2 Only allows upto 300mb/s
When you play an "offline" map (i.e., start a local server), the verification step is skipped. This is what contributes to the massive "loading" times when playing online. Since the data that needs to be verified is already stored in the main memory (most of it anyway, assuming you have 1-2+ GB), it's mostly CPU/FSB/RAM that affect verification speed. For the record, my system loads the data as fast as this video's, and I don't have i-RAM or even a high end system.
It's not entirely dependant on the hard drive. For whatever reason, BF2's loading method is a bit ass backwards. It's not efficient in the least. Though that is a given, this still was pretty damn quick.
the game is programmed bad, but i still like it, i get long load times too and have gig ram

thats about 24 sec, takes shorter time to start a single player game than a multiplayer game.

I have BF2 on a 7200rpm drive, doesn't take that much longer than this to load up. . .

BF2... Loading something fast is not really possible cause the loading sucks.
jtrobber120 3 years ago
Yea and patch 1.41 slows up my loading
D4M1R105 3 years ago
The loading before the start of a round is loading into the video card, so iram will not make a difference.
browndog1978 4 years ago
that wasnt fast at all..
try it online instead, lol

This has NOTHING to do with video hards, this as a card that uses RAM to create an INCREDIBLY fast drive for a PC.

doesn't seem to be that fast at all. maybe there's something wrong?

oke.. now try it online.. than it wil be over 40 sec.
