  • Couldn't they just leave a machine to drill a very narrow tunnel to let out some of the magma building up and relieve the pressure slowly?

  • i think this will happen at the end of the world.....

  • Chuck Norris farted.

  • everyone needs something to get mercy and attention for. Since years everyone is talking about such an apocalypse, making films ( also about our Supervolcano in Germany) . The scenerios might be different . such a volcano would rather open many cracks in a large area. Just Roland Emmerich could still excite our synapses with this gigantic endtime scenario

It maybe the frontiere of our capabilities but if it is the frontiere of our thinking and imagination and interest it would just be poor.

  • Nah, It's Just Gotta Fart

  • Michael Rampino has been saying the same line over years "it's not about if but when it will happen". He'll pass away and that volcano won't erupt. This is waaay overdue.

  • i felt bad for the guy therw at whole movie he was never able to reach newyork then when he did a blackhole consumed the earth

  • the united what a state

  • 2:23 Matrix failure

  • I almost wish this would happen so people would shutup about that global warming crap.

  • now when everyone dies, they're all gonna claim the Americans for the volcano being in the US.... oh wait.. nevermind..

  • I love how this takes place at yellowstone national park, yet everyones driving European cars.

  • @pesto8134 and speaking in a euroopean accent

  • 1:33 i've seen that dude in another documentary I think it was called mega tsunami warning.

  • That geyser erupts every 90 minutes or so, that activity is normal.

  • Comment removed

  • @potheticman FUCKING JESUS FREAK!

  • These types of scenario films are good because it's a reminder that we're at the mercy of nature and mankind should be humble and stop acting as if we own this planet. If the Earth turns violent then we're simply screwed.

  • If indeed the yellowstone caldera erupts only 7% of the worlds population will survive that's like little over 9000 people.

  • @daporkchopexpress

Actually, 7% of the world's population is closer to 560,000,000.

  • say hello to fallout 3 by super volcano

  • That vulcano is a terrorist and anti-semitic and we have every reason to believe it has connections with Al-Qaida.

  • Yes, is Yellowstone IS real Hansungmin! and I like the Mars idea, I'm stocking up on Mars bars as we speak

  • yah if it blows its gonna kill all the skanks in america which means no chicks are gonna be left

  • @ismokeot420420 oh we're skanks? says the person who makes up fake words fucker

  • If a super volcano does erupt, I hope it wipes out all of the criminal banksters, Wall Street, and all of the criminal healthScare execs, and those idiot retard Republicans. And it probably will, too, but we wouldn't be around either to enjoy it.

  • wth u dnt kno how powerful yellowstone is

  • I hope Yellowstone does not erupt otherwise we are screwed

  • if yellowstone does erupt WE ARE SO FUCKED! I DONT WANNA DIE A FIERY DEATH KI

  • TIME TO MOVE TO ASIA! Nah just kidding but seriously if yellowstone does erupt were SCREWED and i mean SCREWED BEYOND BELIEF!

  • is yellowstone is real???????/

  • @TheHansungmin Yep. it can wipe out america

  • you guys must understand yellowstone might be close to erupting...but relatively speaking in a volcanoes terms close could be 1,000 years

  • Lol...whoops (sorry brits but if your going to try to do an american Docudrama...at LEAST have the steering wheel on the LEFT side of the vehicle? (Not too many of those here in america that are on the opp. side)

  • @mike48176. I agree. It`s not just the bloody steering wheel - the whole video is poorly made. I trust it was not the BBC who made this, however ( notwhithstanding that BBC `footage` was deployed ), and am thankful for that !

  • This is why the Amish way of life is a dead end. Even Britain will be claimed by a 500 year winter, the sky will be grey with ash, the crops will fail, the livestock will die.

In Vitro Meat, Vat grown Food, Geothermal Power, Water recycling, these things will allow our survival. The Yellowstone Eruption will bring about a new chapter in Survival of the Fittest, only the technologically fittest will survive.

  • @vecaisvecis

You'd think they would have flown at least one camera crew over to shoot the Yellowstone area. They could have hired some American (LOL, more likely Germans, they love the place.) tourists to pose and scream and run around...

  • Those people at the end would not have survived. The whole of America is screwed.

    Thank God for Britain :)

  • When I studied Geography in Auckland (City of Voclanoes) back in 92, NZ, I find Lake Taupo very fascinating. Just like one of the supervolcano, the Eastern part of Taupo remains active. When Taupo exploded during the BC days, it could be heard as far as from Rome & China. And the whole vegetation on the North Island was wiped out. And today, from Taupo itself, we could see the breathtaking view of the Tongariro National Park. Least to say, its deadly beautiful

  • Taupo was/is a caldera from a very large volcanic eruption which last erupted in a explosive eruption nearly 2000 years ago, but it did have a super-volcanic eruption (VEI 8) before that...definitely jealous of you being able to visit it!!!

  • The average number of quakes recorded is best to determine hazard. Dont be too excited about the stats on eruptions throughout the centuries. We can tell when the geyser going to spit daily, but this eruption equivalent to 60 mill atomic power, jeez its no joke. Best I recommend to sell your house and land and stay away from Yosemite & friends. Dont leave it too late otherwise property will be worthless for a long long time

  • Yellowstone, not Yosemite...The problem's not that people in YNP will be blown to bits. The problem's that such a huge volcanic eruption will significantly affect climate. (And you were worried about global warming). When Mt. Tambora blew, it shortened Europe's growing season, causing crop failure and famine. An eruption of the magnitude expected from the granitic magmas under YNP could affect the entire Northern Hemisphere. Forget about being clonked on the head by flying rocks. We'd starve.

  • what other movies is there?

  • Hee hee, I love the tourists' car - European license plates and the steering wheel on the right side. Did they actually bring it all the way over from England?

  • It's scary though... I mean I love volcanoes. It's my passion but this is a monster :O

  • bad bad film

  • What would happen to Chile? Santiago would be covered by ashes?

  • LOL @ 4:42

  • From California to Colorado, from New Mexico to Montana, if it really erupt, all will gone, and thats mean Denver, L.A. and San Fransico will be erased to ground.

And that's the most beautiful part of U.S,

    how pity.

  • NO we can not

  • Cant we somehow release some pressure

  • I would fly to mars and eat mars bars to survive

  • lol funny guy

  • @e3bilz2k9 I hope they have all the air youll need to breathe there, cuz mars has none.

  • @e3bilz2k9

    lol

  • @e3bilz2k9 lol mars bars

  • @e3bilz2k9 You'd have bloody long journey there. I estimate you'd need two ware houses fall of Mars bars for the flight.

  • i live in America so this shit is real scary

  • yeah I went there at the end of May and it was a very very erry feeling knowing what I was standing on and what is going to happen to that beutiful part of America when it does go off..

  • if i live in consett would i be safe from a mega tsunami

  • exactly what in the quran said in the end of days

  • Jesus Christ on a bike! Thats Not good, Im getting out of there... I don't wanna die :O

  • I live in Quebec, Eastern Canada. Am I safe?

  • nobody is safe it said world wide

  • im in new brunswick nobody around the world is safe O.o

  • nobody would be safe in the end if it errupts we will have another ice age and were talking starvation on a global scale. Thats the grain belt of the USA right there. All the ash would destroy all of that farmland let alone block out the sun.

  • Im fucking moving to north canada. screw usa.

  • you still wont be safe world wide the ash will go

  • my friend built a huge coavern undergound with food for decades. im safe. exac now

  • if i knew i would move to japan

  • i watched this when it was on tv 20 20 i fucked me up

  • omg we will all die im realy scared

  • ya so am i

  • Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

  • I am reading a book about 2012,and all the very possible end of world theories, and the 2 leading ones, are not mumbo jumbo at all,but based on actual scientific facts. One is the holes that they are discovering within the magnetic shield of the earth, and also the fact that the magnetic poles are reversing themselves.Nobody knows if it`s a normal event,or how destructive. The other greatly possible event ,is the supervolcano. After I started to read it,the earthquakes started happening everyday.

  • I read the comment about drilling holes into the supervolcano,to relieve pressure buildup, and as common sense as that sounds,it will not work. There are vast deposits of uranium within that area, and the scientists believe that if oxygen is introduced, into the source of the magma, that it will combust, like 1000,hydrogen bombs. This might be a theory, but I would rather believe it ,then attempt ,the drilling to,relieve pressure ,and inadvertintly set off a massive explosion.

  • @carldaponte think about it...if we let the pressure explode the top off of it...the same thing is going to happen no matter what...id rather take a chance to relieve it then waiting until certain death.

  • @PR0SH4WN123 Your right this event is too big for us to control in anyway whatsoever. Sometimes we have to admit that we are powerless in the face of nature and super-volcanoes is one such thing. I mean who could have prevented the massive earthquake that hit Japan a few weeks and caused so many deaths from those tsunamis, nobody not one scientist could of done anything.

  • Add Info====Theme Song is Theme Song of 24 with Season 7 due to the washington mall pic poster of jack bauer in playboy magazine jan 2009--Just In Time Just Ine Gascon motto and the washington mall in the closing of this supervolcano scenario movie of bbc.====Theme Song of 24====To be continued====....

  • this is more real than you think....as of jan 1st 2009....local geologist says this "I am advising all State officials around Yellowstone National Park for a potential State of Emergency. In the last week over 300 earthquakes have been observed by the USGS. We have a 3D view on the movement of magma rising underground. We have all of the pre warning signs of a major eruption from a super volcano. - I want everyone to leave Yellowstone National Park and for 200 miles around the volcano caldera."

  • yes, this was made by the "idiot british", well, the BBC, depends on your POV if it's the same thing!

It was part of a one off drama on BBC3 a year or two ago, about a few ways in which the world could end, or drastically change.

  • this is more real than you think.....look up the news about this super volcano you will be shocked on what you will find....google Yellowstone volcano....in news just shocking...

  • I have a better idea go there and see for yourself. The caldera is fucking huge. It takes forever to drive through Yellowstone and there are thermal pockets everywhere truely breathtaking and terrifying at the same time.

  • Some information IS distorted here, though.

The last three eruptions occurred 2.1 million years ago, 1.3 million years ago and 640,000 years ago. If you take the average of the two intervals between the eruptions, you get 730,000 years. Since the last eruption happened 640,000 years ago, there's still 90,000 more years to go before we can call Yellowstone overdue.

And can a volcanic eruption, which is by nature unpredictable, ever even accurately be labelled overdue?

  • That's not to say that it can't blow up in 5 minutes, but it is very, very, very unlikely.

  • You are right at some point but were we alive back then. We cannot predicted eruptions by average of years... Anyway, like I always say. If it explodes... I prefer dying but being killed by that monsters than human of diseases

  • agreed on ure mathematics mate =)

  • "Mom. Dad. This is awesome." lol Obviously produced by the idiot British who would love to see a lot of Americans die. Idiot Red Coats. Never trust them.

  • i wonder but if u are able to drill several holes simultaneously towards the magma chamber which would release pressure and you can probably relieve the tension inside the magma chamber. i guess lava will spew out and damage some of the area around it but the Americans sort something minor like that couldn't you

  • Why do they have UK license plates at yellowstone???

  • this documentary s probably made by BBC she has a weird British accent

  • i'm no expert, but i'd say the more likely scenario of the human race being wiped off the planet would be the cause of:

    1.) nuclear war

    2.) biological weapons

    3.) disease

yellowstone is thought to go off about every 600 thousand years. scientists seem to think we are overdue for another one. that may be, but when you look at 600 thousand years, that's a pretty long time line. now that we possess the power to destroy ourselves, and given our nature, i'd say we are doomed based on our nature.

  • Humans will not go extinct. Many people will die in cataclysms in the coming years, but the human race will survive.

  • i dont think so.......you are overlooking the biggest FACT out there.

  • Which would be?

  • are you telling us that or telling yourself that

  • after it blows, not that it matters but, LOL, you've got Americans driving on the wrong side of the road - we drive forward on the right side of the road, not the left.

and, there's been over 200 mini-quakes at Yellowstone in the past few days... I'm heading back East! LOL

  • HAHA..us Americans are driving on the proper side of the road..it is you UK morons that drive the wrong side..NOOB!

  • Old Faithful i'd imagine is the only reason the whole area hasn't blown yet.

  • exactly - I was thinking the same thing - it's like a tea kettle, and Old Faithful with it's BIZARRE exactness in it's heat eruptions is perhaps the hole in the top of the top to let the steam out - keep it from blowing up for now... My soul is right with the Lord (I pray) so there's not much we can do.

  • If this is the movie I'm thinking of, the meteor that hits Germany was the better story.

  • 4:42

    EIAEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • Anyone here notice the "rumblings" today in Yellowstone? I hope it doesn't happen anytime during my lifetime...

  • Super vocano is gonna wipe americas ass clean out. I hope i see it happen in my life time. I would live through 15000 years of winter to see that. It would be a bargain. ROLL ON 2012! God hates the usa.

  • You'd still die wherever you are, just slower.. :)

  • Still be a sight and a half to see usa under ashes. LOL even if i die soon after.

  • Well, the world needs nutters, welcome to the looney bin.

  • LabMan..u suck so stfu and get a life..Apparently your just jealous cuz U are NOT an American and the USA Rules!!!! lalala, fuck off peter cheese!

  • Hey Obama what you doing in Japan?

  • You are a real piece of work. Luckily, most of America will be killed quickly...your ass will have the "pleasure" of living through it...have a fun starving to death.

  • The message below was meant for LabMan666...

I forgot to add that he'll be breathing dust particles containing glass and dealing with lotting. It'll be a pleasant slow end to his miserable existance.

  • No. Nobody hates America. Everybody loves the USA.

  • apparantly a part of yellow stone has got more sctive sign of doomsday? i thinknot they say it erupts every 600,000 years and is 400 years over due as of 2012/13 but if you reaserch the latest was 600,000 years ago but the one before that was 2.5 million years ago so it was 1.7 million years over due?

  • cheesy as hell

  • good Montage. But the problem is the car version, making the vedio fake.

  • there is a supervolcano underneath yellowstone national park its true...but ive got no report of it erupting yet...

  • WOW cool. I hope that dont happen...
