i was so disappionted woth this film the trailer looked awsome and was glad tim burton was directing but int the end it was lazy film making with visuals trying to distract
I don't think this movie was too 'Disney-fied' at all. I think that it had a good dark edge to it that would be lost on some of the younger viewers, and yet very appreciated by the older viewers who know Burton's style a little bit better. Burton's story lines always seemed concrete to me, but I also think that 'How to Train Your Dragon' lacked the quality and depth that 'Alice' had. The story itself has been over used lately, but Burton re invents it, and that's why most people don't like it.
I love Tim burton. I just read he's coming out with a box set with danny elfman celebrating their collaboration over the last 25 years. they haven't released too much info yet but you can sign up for the email list on burtonelfman, com
i liked the advant garde theme of it and the darkness of the movie i just think they shouldve chosen a different name for it because when i think alice in wonderland i think the Disney movie not a sequel
The graphics were great, the actors were great, and I will recommend this movie to complete strangers if I have to. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE! MY FAVORITE EVER!
SHOUT OUT!!! Hear "WONDERLAND" song by band Pullman Standard on the "Alice" extended trailer at Hollywoodswan90 on YouTube. DEFINIETLY worth the listening.
from what i know of alice i think this movie is a third time in wonderland its almost just a made up story of burtons but same characters ofcourse
see the first alice went down the whole and hat not in the second one it ends with her yelling at the jabber wocky i dont believe in you your not real and poof it disapears so in this one she believes she can destroy the jabber wocky and she does ... horray but hell who knows it was still good
hang on was this supposed to be Alice through the looking glass, Alice went through a mirror not a hole, in the first book she did but oh well, IT WAS FANTASTIC, but the dancing mad hatter wasn't needed lol.
tell me about it. i saw it this afternoon in 3D. it's a great movie and I absolutely LOVED it, but if you have the unluck of having children ( or idiot adults) sitting nearby, it spoils the fun. with every little thing that goes even a little bit in your direction, they' ll scream as if the Jabberwock's after them. annoyed THE HELL out of me.
I watched Alice in wonderland 10 times its my most favorite movie ever its the best movie ever I love it so mach my favorite character has to be the mad hater and the cat
I thought the movie was very rich & charasmatic with all it's "strange" lively characters & potent storyline. Strong acting by "all" both voice actors and on screen actors: JOHNNY DEPP certainly delivered I loved him as the MAD HATTER and yes he was pretty scary at times especially when you goes into his M rythms, that was "cool" and the young Actress MIA was "wonderful" as ALICE. The Red Queen AND White Queen: Ms. Hathaway & Ms. Bonham-Carter are brilliant in their War-play. Great movie!
I loved this movie if for nothing else to see the Mad Hatter. He was awesome! If alos you havent seen it in 3D i highly recommend it...it actually works now!!!
That was a very nice review!! I am subscribing!! Hey, can you send me a few download links to the clips you used in this? I need them for a new video & movie review of this movie, too!
@Lovpuppy12 Hi there, thanks so much! I'm sorry but Disney sent me this epk disc, so I won't be able to send it to you...I used this for work, but thanks so much again!
I always loved how you love the Coens' movies, Manny. I'm not a big Tim Burton fan, but if you ENJOYED it, then I'll definately see it (I watch Miller's Crossing, No Country for Old Men and A Serious Man all at least once a week!) keep up to good work!
saw it last night, it started out like an Alice in wonderland film then ended up like some sort of Zelda/Lords of the rings movie, it wasnt as bad as most people said it was, it could of had a bit more imagination for the kids though, but i enjoyed it.
I'm going to see this movie today and I have high expectations for it. I don't believe that I will hate it, because I've never hated a Tim burton film. This one looks awesome!
Manny, I definitely respect your opinion and I agree in this does not have to be a 3D experience (even though some scenes were definitely geared towards the effect), but I did come out loving it. This did not feel 100% Burton but Mia Wasikowski's performance is definitely a reason to go see this. She was amazing as Alice.
I agree with others here, that dance was a little weird and out of place for this.
Aw...thanks! I did enjoy Mia's performance too...wasn't it a bit teary when you saw the young Alice near the end? And yes, that dance!!!!!! That's what I said in my written review...check it out on my website or the info of this vid...have a great weekend!
I compleatly agree about burton. hes movie arent always told that well( except for edwood and sweeney todd) Im still going to see the movie with some friends just for the heck of it. P.S i still cant find The Ghost Writer :(
I only give 4...it's my highest...and the last ones were Up in the Air and Avatar...this year...3 1/2 and that went to The Ghost Writer...fantastic film!
@mdelar manny i think you should always say "out of 4 stars", like 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. or 2 out of 4 stars. because i bet people think that you are rating out of 5 stars.
well i enjoyed the film as well, aside from maybe the dance...but hey, it was still fun.
The best thing about the film other than the red queen and the hatter...and my favourite, the evaporating cat, was the absolute gorgeous scenery displayed in the film
I love this film I like the message it was trying to give us.
