The pressure built up inside of the bottle caused a rapid change in the state of the liquid, such that once that pressure was released, all of what was contained in the bottle was gaseous and just shot out of the bottle. Pressure is the reason that your bottle is empty :)

I'm pretty sure if you inhale the vapour it's fatal. If you microwave vodka the same thing pretty much happens, but if it's in a glass cup it'd probably just evaporate but even then the alcohol in the evaporated air is fatal too :/ that's what my science teacher told me anyways.

So basically what happened was the gin got well above boiling point but it couldn't boil because there was no room for the steam, the pressure kept building until the cap blew off, allowing the gin to insta-boil, which is why there is two separate bangs, one where the cap flew off, and another where the gin is instantly boiling.
