Correction, there was no second wave of punk. Well there was a wave of pop-punk the came and went like the fad it was in the 90's but true punk never died. Hardcore turned into Crust punk, Crust into Grindcore, Grindcore into noisecore, noisegrind, and many other obligatory sub-genres.
