  • @NickJsGurl108 What's and aqua net?

  • @NickJsGurl108 Its hairspray that is very sticky.

  • Hi! I have short hair and I need to know how to make my bun flat but look big. Any suggestions? Or possibly make a video on how to do it.

  • Hi! Thank you so much for posting this video!! I was wondering if you could maybe make another one with Austin in it??? =) That'd be great!! I love your videos and the dancers always inspire me to keep dancing.... you guys are great!!

  • What if hair is curly and you can't get it wet?

My teacher doesn't care but I love the ballerina bun!

  • omg Semhar is so pretty... :D!!

  • Wow what the heck, what a weird way to do a bun.

  • i have short hair and doing a ballet bun is so hard for me :(

  • thanks so much love the vid!!! way faster and easier than what i used to do!!!

  • Comment removed

  • what if my hair is really long and really thick? i'm afraid this kind of bun would look like a seecond head on me :D

  • @makORmalonek if you do not mind it being big in the senese that is wide, not up and down then split your hair into sections and pin as you go...everytime you meet the next section of hair stop the section you were working on and do that section.

the classic ballet bun is not up and down, but big and wide!

  • @xopinkerella1432 thank you, I hope it'll work. :))

  • @makORmalonek Hahahaha.....hair net? xD

  • haha that last guy made me laugh...

  • I can do the frist one within 1 min!!!!!

  • I'm a boy.. why did i watch all this ?

  • @cops055 lol

  • Haha I agree!(:

  • Wow that is some unique way of doing your bun Vanessa! :)

  • Your studio is amazing!! where are you guys and do you do any shows?

  • @thechefasain1 ahes not a boy

  • As a figure skater I do this every day and I am proud to say that in times of hurry I can do a quite good bun with just one ribberband in 30 sekunds

  • does lizzy have a penis?

  • I probably have 6 times more hair than Vanessa... What should I do...? Sigh.

  • thanks alot anaheim i was allways looking how to do a ballet bun for ethnic hair and for short hair

  • thanks for the video anaheim.. Ive been watching your videos since i knew about anaheim.. Please keep on going cause I am really enjoying your videos..

  • My hair reach down to my knees, so I braid it first before I roll it. And then I use hair forks (kinda like bobby pins but are bigger and loose) I don't really wear hair nets because the rolled braid is decorative as it is, and quite stable. ^_^

  • ok the guy at 1:20 looks alot like Ryan off of True Jackson VP his reall name is Matt Shivley but I just thought they looked alot alike.

  • dear anaheim ballet, how do i get my arebesque higher? i see pictures of ballerinas with more than a 90 degree arebesque, mine is just above that but i want it higher!

  • "Glad I'm a dude"? What does that matter? I'm a dude and I have longer hair than all of these gals.

  • @Saufm well as a dude you don't have to make a bun,

  • Comment removed

  • @Saufm

mm maybe youre right. Maybe you should cut your hair of

  • haha "its times like these im glad im a duuude"

"step one *toussles hair*.... we're good"

you guys are so funny :P

  • What if I have BANGS?

  • @PaulaAbdulJr loooots of hairspray :)

  • @Cheerbabeforeverable EEEWWWWWWW.....lol!! kidding kidding. ;)) But hairspray damages hair... :(

  • @PaulaAbdulJr hehe i know it sounds gross... use a cleeean sock of course!!

hm, if you dont want to use hairspray you could use gel, wax or mousse. if your studio allows it, you could use bobby pins or a headband :) good luck

  • @Cheerbabeforeverable Ok! Thanks. :)

  • @PaulaAbdulJr brush them forward then flip them back and boby pin them, then put LOTS of hairspray! Hope i helped!

  • @balletdancer12396 LOADS. :) Thank you!!

  • @PaulaAbdulJr if you can bobby pin them back or what i used to do is in layers with thin layers of my bangs and hairspray unntil i have no strays.

  • @PaulaAbdulJr If you have bangs that just fall down your forehead(not side-swept) then you can either hairspray/gel or pin them away from your face. If you have side swept bangs, you can use hairspray and then just comb it to the side and you can use a bobby pin to keep it in place... in that way, you still have your bangs showing but it should stay in place because of the bobby =D

  • Comment removed

  • @PaulaAbdulJr you bobby pin them back. What's so complicated?

  • @PaulaAbdulJr I have bangs and I just tie them back with bobbypins to keep them out of my face (:

  • @PaulaAbdulJr cut your bangs! hahahahahahaahhahaha

  • @dougiegirl111 if she cut her bangs she'd have even shorter bangs. lol!

  • @PaulaAbdulJr i have bangs too , basically what i do it take them and seperate them in two sections . pin them back with lots of bobbypins .youll probably have lots of stray hairs , use hairspray for those. :) hope this helps!

  • @PaulaAbdulJr Two words: HAIR SPRAY. And lots of it. Also, you could use hair clips or bobby pins.

  • @PaulaAbdulJr you could just pin them back?!

  • @PaulaAbdulJr pin them back separately

  • i just starteddd.....

  • Go bobby pins :))

  • I like the first the best.

  • I've got that first one down so well, I can do it in about 3 minutes. FLAT. :)

  • i love it im in ballet with short hair looking for how to do a bun now i ive found my answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @heartdancer100 haha this might sound really weird, but i have short hair, and i make my bun look bigger with a sock :)

you can look up 'bun for short hair sock" and a video or two should come up telling you how, if your intrested :)

  • i think the last one at the ned of the video is the best!! you only have ONE step!!

  • This vid was really helpful and I can do my hair in a bun for the first time eva and don't have to get someone else to do it!!! Woop woop thanx Anaheim ballet!!! :)

  • i agree with u balletdancer12396

  • i love you vannessa u so helpful + funny!!!lol!!!:)

  • I'm not in ballet, but in colorguard we have to put our hair into a bun, so this was very helpful. Does anyone know how to combine that with twists on each side while keeping it neat?

  • While combing her ponytail, Vanessa missed a few strands of hair

  • great! i study on conservatory and we must have buns for ballet lessons and this video helped me very much! :-)

  • @VercaBallet Me too! I make my buns a different way, haha

  • thanks!! i have layers and side bangs so its hard for me to put my hair in a good bun /:

  • I have long smooth hair and can do a bun with 1 hairnet, 1 bobby pin and 1 scrunchie :) (and hair spray, of course)

  • This video helped me alot! Thankyou!

  • I'm just wondering how to do Semhar's bun with long and thick hair. She has thick hair but short hair. I wanna make it as flat as hers, PLZ HELP

  • vanessa is such a commentator lol she should be on documentaries or something cuz she has a very calming voice

  • the 3rd one looks really weird... :PP

  • @lexiiducky ???

  • @ReDxHuLk ????? k

  • vannesa's laugh made me so pissed off -.-

  • Wow tnx this video helped me a lot!!! These ways are very easy and only need a few bobby pins then a few dozen , that i use ;p haha anyway thanks!!!

  • whoa so useful!!

  • yea i have black ppl hair so -.- yea but i do just fine with my sock bun that i make

  • oh vanessa! always giggling and laughimg

  • could you guys do another video like this one but with a french twist please? thanks!

  • i do tap ballet and tap and maybe poams

  • i agree with balletdancer12396 vannessa's style would also stay better with a hair net. :)

  • it funny cause i use like, a billion bobby pins and these guys barely use 6.......

  • Lizzy and I do our buns exactly the same!

  • Make a perfect bun without a hair net, bobby pins or any of that mess! It'll hold up better than a bun made with pins, too. Click on my user name to see how. Not only that, with our hair tool it only takes seconds to put a bun up!

  • I have really short hair what can I do for ballet

  • I prefer Lizzy's way for bun ;-)

  • they only use a few bobby pins. dude i use like 10 billion.

  • I have short hair and none of them helped. The short hair one was to short

  • i do my bun just like the first example!!

  • Comment removed

  • i do mine like Lizzies just i put bobby pins in whilst twisting my hair and then put on the hairnet then put bobby pins in again then spray my hair ;)

  • @WhatsThePointe201 me too

  • It's at times like this I'm glad I'm a dude .... lol :)

  • semhar, i really like your hair.. lol it looks easy to work with and is very pretty

  • i do my bun almost exactly like lizzy!!!!

  • now already like doing it jajaja to me

  • i've done ballet for a long time and now my mum wants me to quit and start on other things and i dont want to. i love ballet!! so i agree irishmusicalgurl1216...go for it!

  • my hair net broke.. :( my hair is too thick..

    i like her style...hm...very creative!

  • i do lizzy's way. But i do it differently. Ponytail, twist into a bun, bobby pins, hairnet, bobby pins. It makes it more firmer

  • i like semhars because my hair isnt long like vanessa's or lizzy's

  • Comment removed

  • semhar's hair is really weird!!!!!!

  • This is sooooo helpful !!! I am glad that this is here!!! =] tnx

  • hairnet hairnet hairnet!!!!!!!! i like putting a few pins in bun first, add the hair net, then thread the pinks through the hair to secure the hairnet and hair to the head.......i like the bunhead hairpins that you can get at any dance store or discount dance supply...

  • this helps so much. thank you! ive been doing my own bun for 10 years of dancing now, and they never came out so good after this video. Thank You!

  • semhar's hair is weird.

  • But what if I wanna start and I'm 15 but I'm preety... Very not thin?

  • @lolikB I'm in exactly your situation - I started on thursday. So. Much. Fun.

  • @lolikB you mean u wanna start ballet? go for it! i love ballet

  • @lolikB Age/Weight/Height/Natonality..it dosen't matter...do ballet! its so much fun and a challenge alot of times...butits worth it...and it keeps you in shape! Follow your dreams! good luck! :D

  • how to make a french roll?

  • omg wow they can do 2 jobs: ballerina + hairdresser !!! my compliment-they do it perfectly*.*

  • Vanessa's bun is super intricate!

  • Vanessa's hair is wet, not damp

  • i love how basic everyone is about describing their bun and then vanessa comes along and she is SUPER descriptive with everything she is saying haha love her!!

  • I take so much time doing a bun. This has helped me sooo much.

  • everyone please answer this question please! im not very flexible!! with that effect me in ballet very much? so yeah please answer

  • @smileyzzheartzz

Ballet is not about flexibility (in my opinion) is about technique and love, and passion if you truly want it and work hard for it, flexibility it wont be a problem, because it'll come eventually ;) naturally

  • @BlindbyBeauty yes, thats right. but if you want to be a primaballerina you have to be flexible..

  • @BlindbyBeauty I agree with your opinion!! :-)

  • @BlindbyBeauty i agree =) i have been ding ballet fo abut 8 years and im 11 =)

  • @BlindbyBeauty so true! :)

  • @BlindbyBeauty i agree. thats actually what kinda happened to me

  • @BlindbyBeauty true that

  • @smileyzzheartzz unfortunately-yes it will- flexible hips are especially important

  • thankyou!!

  • smileyzzheartzz You can always stretch, but if you don't have good hip flexibility you are in trouble because that determines your turnout =(

  • the last bun is weird.........

  • i have an okay turn out my hips are pretty flexible its just my quads, hamstring and calves(sp?) arent very flexible

  • lol "I'm glad I'm a dude" I"m not a dude I was quoting the guy at the end. :P

  • the girl at the end is weird!!!

  • i really want to learn ballet but my age is 13..is it already TOO LATE?? and my also problem is, if i enroll into a ballet school, im afraid if they will discriminate me that i am still a beginner in my age...can someone here help me with my problem?? i am almost losing my hope now..

  • @princessval465 ....STFU.

Do it anytime you like. You want to learn ballet, right? Then deal with it. It might not be as bad as what you thought.

  • i started ballet when i was 14 and it was fine, the teacher really helps you out and if you are determined you'll catch up with the rest of the class in no time

  • @princessval465 its not too late. Anyone can start whenever they want. I'm fifteen (sixteen by the time i take classes) and my future teacher told me that anyone can join whenever and they don't classify but age only. You can have some three year olds and some twenty year olds in your classes (even as a beginner) it all depends on your level of ballet. So don't worry(: i was scared too, but its not as frightening as it seems. trust me, i know how you feel

  • thank guys...i just gained confidence from what you've said..thank you soooooo much!!! now, im already determined to learn ballet..thanks aloooooot!!

  • @princessval465 Dont lose hope!!!! If I were you I would at least try it out!!! If it doesn't work out at least u tried :)!!! I dnt think you are going to have a problem :D

  • @princessval465 NO! it is NEVER too late to start ballet :) I started when I was 13 and now I'm in the advanced level and on pointe and in a professional production. Don't give up hope on Ballet, it's probably the best thing I've decided to do with my life!

  • @princessval465 I didnt start ballet till I was 20! Im 26 now, and I am glad I started when I had the urge...Go for it!! Its never too late.

  • i started ballet at 13 and im really good

its never to late to learn

    unless ur like 90

  • if you want to learn it, you should! ballet is amazing. no lie, it gets tough, but its worth it. just don't quit. it'll be the worst descision you ever made. trust me, i know. i want ballet back in my life so bad. 10 years of dance down the drain.

  • Yup... 15 years for me. And don't ever let people tell you you can't do it for one reason or another - all that's important is that you love it and it makes you feel alive. Good luck!

  • @shmimmy : thanks shimmy..you inspired me that much..thanks a lot!

  • wont you get...keratin..of you comb and tie your hair while still wet?

  • i think vanessas hair style would look neater if she used a hairnet

  • yah i agree wit u

  • My hair is a bit above shoulder-length and shorter than the second girl's.

But hopefully it will get longer in time for my recital in June.

  • if it doesn't, you can use a sock or a 'faux bun' and wrap your own hair around it, it's a great trick. I have short, brown hair, so I bought a brown sock that matched and made a small hole where your toes should be. Then put your hair up in a ponytail and pull it through the hole and wrap your hair around it.

  • wow i loved the last one because I have reaaaally long hair and when i made a "twisty" bun for my figure skating classes it looked soooo big and it wasnt hold in place.

the last one is different and it looks really cute I just tried it it's an amazing idea

THANK YOUU VERY MUCH ANAHEIM BALLET

  • THNKS SO MUCH!

  • u can alwayz get a sock nd wrap it around it kumzout nice nd makez it seem lik u got alot of hair

  • all of them were great except the last one the sides of the head that had hair has bumps/wispys.. Great stradegy for the last 1 but it wasnt a very good looking try. Great on the rest though Thanks very much Im sure the rest of your viewers will find this video very helpful

  • They're all so pretty! The girls, I mean. Sooo beautiful.

  • if you have very thick hair (like I do) and want to do a "twisty" bun, shown first in the video, put your hair up in a high ponytail. Separate it into two sections and twist each section. Now coil each section clockwise around the ponytail holder, simultaneously. Tuck the ends in, hold the bun with one hand, and cover with a hair net. Use U-shaped hairpins instead of bobby pins to catch the hair and pin all the way around the bun. Spray.

  • i forgot to mention, this will give those with thicker hair a nice flat bun instead of a little doughnut. :P

  • I have SHORT, THICK hair and I ALWAYS get a little doughnut. Thanks!

  • you're welcome! glad i could help :)

  • thats what i do

  • I hate to do this!!!!!!!!!!!I can't do a beautiful bun even I am trying a lot!!!!! I stay15 min per day in the front of my mirror and nothing.

  • @andraballet do you have alot of layers?

  • haha i just had a recital and totally did not know how to make a bun and this video

    saved me!

  • Thank you for showing three different ways of making a bun. My hair is so thick and I have a TON of hair so Vanessa's tutorial is quite helpful for me. Thank you!

  • Help!! I can't make a bun it's like impossible!! Cam someone give me some tips?? Note: I have medium length hair and it's SUPER thick. Thanks!!

  • Mmm, maybe using a sock bun (I really don't know the name). It look like a doughnut. You just make a ponytail, then you put the sock bun on your ponytail (just put your ponytail in the hole so the sock bun will touch your head). Then spread your hair all over the sock bun and secure it with a rubber band. You can then stick pins to secure the extra hair. You can also ad an hair net. (Excuse me if it's not very clear but I'm french and my english is not very good ^_^)

  • that's what I do

  • I also have very thick hair that about shoulder length, though it's been as long as my hips as well. I always do the same bun for it. It's a little similar to the first bun. I do my hair in a medium high ponytail, then I separate it into at least 3 sections. I twist up each section individually. With the first section, I circle it around my ponytail, just like the girl does in the first video, except that I pin as I go, usually putting a pin every third of the way around the circle.

  • 1:04 O_o!!Es adorable!!

  • i like the first when i need it high, but if i want to keep my fringe i can you the second one :) (but your suppost to pin your fringe back) its good for lessons and stuff :) THANK YOU:)

  • Awesome I have to try those!

  • I love ballet, but my hair is short and choppy so a bun is almost impossible :)

  • @HiyaKatiee--- a fony pony works really good or the scruncies that make it look like a bun... you follow the same directions and put the hair net over it and it works perfect!
