  • FN' well done

  • Nice video!

  • Great commentary!

  • Good Vid... :o)

  • I have two questions to those in the white majority. Do you guys not realize that as the majority you are not confronted by the cultures, values, traditions of those in the minority in a day to day basis? I think whites need to address this issue. Not as a partisan white v black or left v right, but at the psychological and sociological damage being done to those left out in our segregated society. To those who differ from the norm ask yourself in what ways can you hide your differences?

  • @DarkMagus1985

well I mean in my video I'm not implying that people should be blank or comply with the norm, I'm just saying that's what's good for me,

as for being in the white majority, oh I'm in more than that, I'm a man, I am of Christian decent, and know enough about it to fake religiosity if necessary, oh I'm white but I'm also tall, and quite extroverted.... to bad i'm not talented and I'd be set.

though with all of these things going for me, I've been very, very poor in my life...

  • @DarkMagus1985

... food stamps welfare, shitty apartments with roaches and rain coming in through the walls, I've had it all, and quite often I've lived mostly with Black and Latino people, so it's hard for me to put myself in or identify with the "white majority" as you put, but your point is not lost, there isn't any way for me to hide my differences, and i am lucky, societally at least to have been born with the "differences" of the majority

  • @JamesPopeAfterShow You dont have to comply to the norm but its easier for you to deviate because the norm will never be so far from your deviance. If your Black and your an atheist you deal with the facts: that your Black and atheist; society doesn't like your beliefs and your own society does not accept your abortion of religious values which has kept your race from collapsing into oblivion. Minorities who deviate even further from the norm are risking far more because of where they start.

  • @JamesPopeAfterShow I understand where your coming from. Its the fact that Atheist/Agnostics/Nonreligious Americas are 16% of the whole and Blacks are 12.4% of the US pop. It is easier to be in the norm, difficult to be a deviant, and almost impossible if your economically and socially disadvantaged to also be a deviant without being made an outcast by society, Its to what degree can you deviate from the position that you begin with, that society is willing to accept.

  • This video was one of the most enjoyable I have seen in a LONG LONG time! Favorited.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll Thank you for sharing.

  • @TheJamesPope WHATEVER DUDE , u got a better comment then that ???? re:define !!!!!!!!!

  • @matmicm1

nah, i'm sticking with "jackass" even though I could delete your comment for spamming, then it would say I removed your comment, and then people might think you actually said something interesting, and then they might check your channel out, and then they might actually make the mistake of checking out your fucking retarded book that lowers your IQ as you read it it's sooooo fucking dumb, and then they might become retards and die from segwaying off of cliffs.... JACKASS

  • @JamesPopeAfterShow LOLOLOOLOL , u need to do stand up cause u r hilarious . i love your response it is so blunt and honest . really if u do not like the book , i agree . i get bored with the beginning of it . However , i believe there are some good points made . How do u feel about discussing theology or science ? fucking dumb? How so ???

  • @matmicm1

well I honestly wasn't expecting that,

I don't know if you're bullshitting or not,

but given the politeness of your comment, I feel I should be honest,

I didn't read the book, I feel as though I should check it out now, but it will take some time in getting to,

as for discussion, I'm always open to it, on those topics and others, feel free to add me on skype, TheJamesPope or come to my BlogTV: TheJamesPope, it's all the same screen name, I am always open for broad discussions there

  • @TheJamesPope COOL .,.,.,.,

  • @TheJamesPope I like your vid but try being black or latino or asian and see how far you can divorce yourself from your "race" or "ethnicity" trust me its not possible. Those who try to distance themselves from these races are seen as people who are trying to be white. I think the problem with those in the majority is that they don't have to act white of any brand because being themselves perpetuates the culture of the majority. Now that said I hope we can one day be ourselves without labels!

  • @DarkMagus1985

I agree with how you explain, but it kind of makes it out to be a vicious cycle, don't ya think?

or am I getting it wrong?

  • Tradition is anything that a society or a group of people does regularly.

Watching South Park is one of the most sacred tradition there is!

  • @tetsusaigaiy

I've got two people backing me up so far, should we go all out and apply for some kind of religious holidy with the gov't

  • I've done the very same thing with application forms.

I chuck in "other European" which in reality could mean, I'm probably of African decent, who happens to have been born in Scotland, but speaks like a complete caber tosser with a mouth full of haggis...But looks Spanish..Bahahaha

    Great video :)))

  • @Eedgit

quite a fucking chameleon you are

  • Very Cool ;-)

    Thanks for sharing !

  • @IvanIsmailov

    thank you for watching

  • you got the god thing right (so far, until jesus comes back and makes all us atheists look like faithless fools)

    RACE, EVOLUTION AND BEHAVIOR

try that free online abridged version or get the book and have a more developed racist view

    THE COLOR OF CRIME

    another useful racist primer

18,175 more whites have been killed by blacks than blacks were killed by whites, 1976-2005 (29,437-11,262=18,175)

THE BELL CURVE is another racial masterpiece

THE NATURE OF HOMOSEXUALITY, another book for you

  • @glorp896

i'm sorry i don't follow what you're saying by recommending these books... care to expand?

  • saying no to Christmas is not an option sadly in my household.

  • @2DRonaldo

i've called it MERRY CHRISTLESS COSMOS

xmas works as well, nice to cut out christ...

but i hope you like SOME aspect of the holiday season, at least the reindeer, right?

  • @glorp896

    Of Course, Reindeers kich ass!

  • Only in the U.S is more importance placed on a person's race than their ethnicity and that's mostly because the U.S historically has been a place that worked to erase outside culture. Like trying to get the Natives to assimilate, breaking ties with England, and forcing slaves from Africa to stop speaking their native languages. Since many white and black people in the U.S don't really know what makes up their ethnicity, it's been easier to just create giant categories for them.

  • My race is black but my ethnicity is Nigerian. Checking the black box on forms is weird because I feel, culturally, as different from Black Americans as Asians, Latino, Native, or White people do. And obviously there are several cultural differences within those races that would probably make them angry at having to use just their race to define them.

  • @lilkk234

    nigeria, wow, that country sucks

i hope they pay their oil workers more some day...

  • @glorp896

wow, that was such a fucking unnecessarily rude comment, and it almost seems like you are or are trying to be oblivious to the fact that it is, which imply either skeevyness or idiocy on top of rudeness

  • @JamesPopeAfterShow

rude? the rudeness is in the lack of pay as there have been riots and such concerning the oil industry; an unstable huge oil producer in the continent's most densely populated country, and that country does suck, do you need to see the vital statistics? Perhaps the IQ (67!) is enough for you to understand a certain level of suckness? read RACE, EVOLUTION AND BEHAVIOR, a book, free online abridged version available... the idiocy, rudeness and skeevyness is their's...

  • @lilkk234

that's actually really interesting, on the checking boxes, that's a contemplation that I would have never thought of that I'm sure a lot of black people who were not born in the US but have moved here face

  • hi boyyyy!!!!very very good channel,I love it!!!!

  • @Argaali

hi... girlllll??!?? thank you thank you very much

  • I hear you. I'm half Portuguese from my dad and various northern, middle, and likely eastern european nationalities from my mom. (My ancestors on that sides must've had a goal to do it all the way across Europe.) But even though I'm half Portuguese and less than a quarter of anything else, I look white, to the extent that someone would only possibly guess that I might be Portuguese after knowing my last name, and usually not even then. Other than occasional Portuguese food, no cultural stuff.

  • @jjmblue7

well I'm always open to broadening my cuisine, I'd say you've got it pretty good culturally

  • Sure they count as traditions. You're a youth and a weed smoker :P

    Tis a good heritage xD

  • There is only one race people belong to, the human race. Ethnicity is where your parents and thier parents were originally from, but it is fluid. People used to stay within thier own nationalities, or as the royal family refers to it 'preserving the blood line'. this is no longer the way the world works. Not long ago a black person dating a white person was considered socially taboo, now it is not. I think that culture is the issue you are more contemplating.

  • @kortick50

well actually, this is a speech, word for word, from my Sociology class, and though i don't think your interpretation of the video is incorrect, the task outlined in the speech that I was to give to class, was to give the sociological definitions, or the text book definitions of race and ethnicity, and then to define my own race and ethnicity

  • I'm a Eurafroasian mutt, like most people around here. Otherwise, I'm a swede from the internet.

  • @Fjarhultian

you should demand that Swede from the Internet be an option on all applications you fill out

  • What you are illustrating is that there is, indeed, an AMERICAN culture... one that has been subverted, pushed aside, forgotten... or even denigrated to the point where people don't want to self-identify as such.

It is a culture based NOT on race or ethnicity, but on IDEAS... which is what makes America unique on the world stage.

But nevermind all that... we're not supposed to be "patriotic" or proud.

  • @eagleeye1975 There is indeed an American culture. I'm definitely not patriotic though. Don't feel a need to be proud or anything simply because of where my mom plopped me out.

  • @tattooskin72

no territorial basis? no sense of place as home aside from your house or where you live? no meaningful vib that flows through you as to a nationalistic tendency? are you not familiar with american triumphalism? the manifest destiny? mom plopps aside YOU make what your surroundings are, make us proud, be a good citizen... if you do all that then you are being a patriot, wittingly or not (whatever "all that" is...(do you have some proud skin marks?

  • The only thing I can say is if you're not gonna hold the camera yourself don't turn away from it because it becomes hard to hear. Good vid other then that

  • @GrimmShadowsII

yeah I caught that one in the editing, it wasn't ideal filming conditions, but thank you for the advice otherwise, always welcome, bests, james

  • As you surround yourself with people who have travelled around the world, race and ethnicity matter less and less. You can jump ahead of this curve by taking faith that people are the same wherever you go.

  • @DanceInYourRoom and thas the truth! lol Meaning most are dum, stupid, and ignorant...

  • @F2PHero More true than you can possibly believe. But if you cut people off you'll never find the diamonds in the rough.

  • @DanceInYourRoom

    directions these comments went

  • @F2PHero

I quite like the two different

  • I am German, Irish, Scottish, Native American (Cherokee & Iroquois) Italian, Roma (gypsy) and African American. I am so pale I am translucent. I am also a Ginger. A friend of mine recently got drunk enough to tell me that I did not have "white girl hair" and he had always seen some albino characteristics in me. I mark "White" on forms because I kinda have to when I am this pale. I am a mutt.

Religious-wise I ended up a Wiccan, but a Solitary Eclectic one. Was supposed to be Catholic. Oops.

  • @kelliko70 What you describe of yourself and what he says in this video is why I get so pissed at so called "race realists". Yes, race as a social construct exists... and maybe even to a certain extent, biologically. But it's not as easy as looking at a person's color.

Anyway, I still need to continue my video series on this. I think he gave me the jumping board I needed ;)

  • @tattooskin72

well I'd be honored if I did

  • @kelliko70

damn that's a lot of shit, I'm sure we're all pretty mixed if we look back far enough, but god damn I would never be able to keep track of all of that

  • from one mongrel to another... you still look like James Pope to me.

  • @Silkspine

well shit i hope so, lol

  • Ginger have souls!

  • @wonderpope

    nuh-uh

  • I can totally see the Philipino side of you in your eyes, but it wasn't until you mentioned it that I realized it.

  • @ScentedNectar I can't, but people have told me that before, i know my eyes are very thin when I smile, idn

  • wait wait wait wait wait....wait......you're Filipino?

  • @alvein7

    haahahhaha

    yeah, I know, right

  • Pope your just a multiracial mutt like the rest of us. It's funny because so many people cling to being pure one thing or another, but the reality is that based on most of our ancestries we're almost all multiracial. Ethnicity is all about culture. I agree with your sentiment...embrace multiculturalism or just make up your own!

  • @madixon2

i like the idea of making it up on my own... :)

  • I would have to say James that the idea that this video hits on is one that has kinda bugged me on and off at certain times in my life. From my father's side of the tree I am German / Italian and on my mother's side of the tree I am Native American (Chippewa) / Scottish. The thing is when it comes to my ethnicity on any of them the only thing I can relate to of them is my "anger" and willingness to hold a grudge. Outside of that, well like you, I got nothing.

    Great video man. :-)

  • @Crowinblack2001

I'd say just let the anger define you, (not a doctor) and just throw race/ ethnicity out of the equation, they don't seem to be having an effect for you,

and thank you for the support

  • What was Katie drinking?

  • @Maxdwolf

    hahahahhahahahahhahhhaha

  • I liked this but I have no idea why. Perhaps it was too much medicinal wine.

  • @johnetie

well make sure you keep putting down the medicinal stuff prior to watching

    cheers : )

  • gasp! We can't clearly predefine you as a member of a single group?! I guess we'll have to judge you on an individual basis according to like the content of your character or something. How shocking >.<

  • @Arikiel

    quite a revelation, huh?

  • I was raised in a church, and now I'm the only atheist in my family.

    I'm Caucasian,but I'm mostly called Ginger XD

    I'm Irish/German/French blooded.

  • @Xxninja195xX

yes the ginger gene does really seem to stick out, doesn't it?

I don't mind it though, wearing my freckles with pride : )
