FIRST LET ME SAY THIS ...WHOEVER DISLIKED THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT INTO SOUL SECONDLY HE WAS A SOULFUL GENIUS AND ONE OF THE GREATEST MALE SINGERS EVER I LOVE HIM
I was 14 in 1966.. England Won the World Cup... & Otis Redding was one of my 1st influence on music...Could life get any better? just wish i could have seen him live, unfortunately he was killed the year i had planned to.
Holy shit - how can anyone hear this and not realize what's been missing in this world??? Three minutes and thirty nine seconds of perfect "couples counseling"...
@zepploid Mr. Pitiful himself. This guy was one of the pillars of soul music. What presence. No glamor or posturing. He's a template of masculinity: Strong but able to acknowledge his sufferings and share his sorrows with dignity. A credit to his race: The human race, that is. His music helps reduce human suffering.
@drjimiboy69 very well said friend . A soul brother of the highest defintion.Tough but tender ,strong but sensitive. All the good and bad of life expressed in the emotional, melodic beauty of a voice which is otis redding.
I love this version, the band is so tight and Otis' voice drips with passion and urgency that nobody has ever matched and ever will. It nearly brings tears to my eyes

There are a LOT of inspirational messages from Bishop T.D Jakes, Bishop Noel Jones, Dr. Jamal Bryant, as well as complete episodes of my favorite TV shows like "TV One's Unsung", "I hate Chris" etc....You'll also find videos of my favorite music artist's like Marvin Gaye, Enchantment, Al Green & Gospel Music !
It's wacked, but this version makes this song my favorite song, ever. I feel every word in this song. It just slaps you in the face and punches you in the heart.
Wow!! I can still feel this song to bones! As for Otis's pants; that was a style back in the days called "Matadors". Usually, sharkskin, silk mohair...
Now just to be comical - why those pants? Why are the pants up to his arm pits! Hilarious fashion....but nothing can hide his soul and fabulous voice! Wish we had these kinda of artists today.
Ahh Otis. I wish I had as much soul as Otis did. That brutha looked like he could just walk into a room and dominate it. I love how Otis can throw a few extra syllables into a word and give it a whole new meaning...00:57, "...whatchu-er gonna do tonight?" Absolutely nothing like that today. Ain't nobody tearin' up songs like this anymore.
To the person who wondered what it would have been like to live in the oldies,i was overseas with some guys that went to school with Otis, and i saw them cry upon hearing of this death. We are now in our 70s now and i for one don't listen to this crap call music today.Nothing like the 60s /70s as far as music goes. Not only Otis, but other greats. Those were the days........
@TheGeorgia726 actually , it is ... music from 90s . Number of popple also was also crying over Kurt , we had such a trementous bands like Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Fugees and rap music like Dr Dre, and Snoop first albums. For me is nothing like 90's , if its about Rock and Hip Hop . But if its about Soul - its Thrue -after 60/70s there was nothing else.Nothing like Otis or Marvin etc
This video really capture Otis Redding soulfulness. I stream it on my big screen t v and nearly go crazy watching him sing. It's like no way this man is gone. Thanks for posting because I have enjoy Otis Redding music since I was a teenager. 40+ yrs
