I live in Thailand. Watched them train before. These fighters train by kicking banana trees till the trunk breaks in half. And this is just to "kill" the nerves on their shin so they don't feel that striking pain when they kick. They also bite down on rope tied to heavy plates and lift with their neck to strengthen their jaws and neck. Their necks have to be strong enough to pull themselves out of holds that may result in a knee to the face. Few of the unorthodox training I've seen. Brutal.

And one more thing, as a Karateka I had 6 fights with Kung Fu guys in open weight tournaments and knocked them all out. As a Kickboxer I fought and won another Kickboxer who did the same as me Boxing and Muay Thai... Now I moved to K-1 and my fight record is 4 wins (by KO) 1 draw, and 0 losses... what's yours? Savete beating Muay Thai every time? Where did you get that from??? hahaha... you don't know what a shin loaded low kick is until you get one. Shut up, read more books and train harder.

Because in  my town there are some people teaching Taekwondo or Kempo Karate kicks and Boxing naming it Kickboxing. I'll research more Savate, I practiced for a while and found it too similar to what I already did,

@Chelseaboy13UKM4 Well, I have to admit kung fu guys I fought were faster and way more technical than me, I was simply stronger and insensible, in Kyokushin Karate we train to sustain damage and deal with pain, I just didn't feel their shots, so I just waited for them get tired and slow down a bit, so I could push them off balance and knee or kick  them. And yes, there is a Karate style were you can punch people in the face, search for Seidokan Karate, and Kudo (Karate + Judo it looks like MMA)

@Chelseaboy13UKM4 I just did not like at all the no shin kick rule, which by the way I fully recommend, specially for K1, once your shin is hard enough and with no sensibility at all, you can kick people until they break, my last fight I won by TKO just by kicking 6 times consecutively to the rib cage of course my opponent blocked them but by the 5th and 6th I broke both of his arms. Sharpen your shins man, it's worth the pain.

Yo Chelseaboy... Kickboxing is no Martial Art, it's a form of competition... I do Kyokushin Karate besides Muay thai, and when great Mas Oyama master created his Karate he incorporated Knees and Kicking principles from Muay Thai and I think you don't know shit about Savate either, otherwise you'd know shin kicks are not allowed in Savate which by the way is in no way superior when it comes to hand techniques to western boxing, both ortodox or unortodox...

Muay thai is one of the most complete martial arts because it uses almost all your body as a weapon, and its useful on different ranges (kicks at long distance, hands in mid, and elbows and knees in short). It also uses "wrestling" (clinching) techniques. So try to get a Savate guy in a fight aginst a thai boxer under Muay Thai rules and see waht happens. btw, Kick Boxing is a restricted Muay Thai style. Sorry about my english
