I think part of it is that Americans are too used to the quick and the upbeat. Not enough of us are big fans of the ballad style, which is what this seems closer to. You guys are right, it's still...slow and simple, and she isn't really showing off her voice like she could, but I think it's real downfall is that it's sadly more suited to Koreans than Americans. Which isn't a bad thing at all unless you're trying to debut in the states...

Anyway, I love J-lim, she was once my favorite korean singer, but whoever made the decision for her to "debut" in America didn't think through it properly enough. This goes for other artists in the asian market like Rain and Utada.

As an asian, I don't understand why some already-established singers in the asian markets are trying to break into the US market. It's just TOO difficult if you don't collaborate with a popular US artist, or get sufficient exposure through something like American Idol. Having an accent is also a huge, huge crutch since live-singing is a must for promotions.
