Just came back from this... The Stalacpipe organ was one of my favorite parts... Although it was hard to choose! The water in there is amazing too- the Dream Lake and the Wishing Well are beautiful. Same with Pluto's Ghost- haunting.
But the Organ's haunting tune was beautiful... Lovely. The chapel where the organ was held was a ballroom quite some time ago, I would have loved to have been there then!
Youre an idiot!! What "cuntry" are you from? And stalactites take thousands of years to form dumbass, go back to school and learn something and stop wasting our time!!
@boethiah12 but stalactites can be tools to measure environmental change and such. considering there are many of them in the world it doesn't matter. But to say that they are "just" a part of the earth is a double sided argument, we could say you are just some carbon from a chain of carbons.
As an employee of the Caverns for years, this organ is amazing not only in sound but in stature. Being the worlds largest musical instrument, it never ceases to amaze me everytime i hear it!
I remember seeing this Ripley's Believe Or Not episode when I was a child. I've still never went to go see it - I live Missouri where another Ripley's Believe Or Not cave was featured: Truitt's Cave...it had an underground dining hall...woo-hoo. Would love to go see it someday.
now, that's a big organ.

Congratulations you know how stalactites are formed.
So do i and thats why i think its a travesty that someone took a sander to them and cut back tens of thousands of years of formation.
nodnodwinkwinkV 2 years ago
O_o.... It's a bit strange that they filed the stalactites down for this instrument. Seems kind of damaging for the cave...
Still, it's a very impressive feat.
Nurr0 2 years ago 6
@Nurr0 dont worry. the cave is gonna be fine. stalactites are just minerals from waters in the cave that have hardened.

@miceskin that is a very good point. but i was merely trying to assure people that the integrity of the cave is unharmed by this.
