This is pretty funny when you think about it, because I'm pretty sure most Americans would never feel safe with Obama answering that phone, they just were put in a bad situation (economic near collapse) and voted for a guy who was the least like the guy in charge before. I don't hold that against them, but when polled after the primaries, most democrats said they'd vote for Hillary over Obama had they known the economy would worsen like it did.

I don't think you guys understand something. The role of Secretary of state is more complex then merely "the President CAN tell her what to do". The Secretary of State advises the president on what his next course of action should be. Of course the president has final decision making power, but it's a little more nuanced then him simply telling everyone what to do.
