@sneak400 Basically the way he used to sing was destructive to his vocal cords, and he developed cysts in his throat and required vocal surgery. Now he can't howl like he did before 2004.

I've always wondered whether he could still do it but chooses not to anymore. Either way, if the yelling does destroy the vocal cords there's really no much they could do...AFI could have continued to make yell music but then they wouldn't have been able to do live shows.
