While the comeback vs. Toronto in 2000 was LARGER (came back from a bigger deficit) this was Game 6 of the Conference Finals. Facing Elimination. Down 3 goals with half a period to play. The win put them 1 game away from the Stanley Cup Finals. This is also one season before the Brett Hull era began. I remember hearing about the trade on the radio thinking it ironic that Wamsley and Ramage would be going to the Flames in return for Hull.
Dear St. Doug, ...I say this in jest, but if you could inspire my boss (in a polite way, because I don't want ill will) that I deserve respect in my department (I say this because I was disinvited from the employee bbq & it was MY IDEA). God bless Doug!
@invadr1 so did your dad you clown...I would smack the shit out of you if you were in front of me right now. I don't even like hockey and I did not mean to come to this video but I hate you and I hope you die from aids
I've just watched this for the 1,000 time . It still brings a tear to an ole Blues fan...since 1967. I loved Ken Wilson But, how do ya top the greatest hockey announcer of all time...DAN KELLY. Where was this interview of Ken saying how he hated STL. What exactly led to his leaving STL?
Does anyone else miss Ken Wilson? I grew up listening to the blues on KMOX and remember how enthusiastic he always was. I wish the Blues would get him back.
I actually had seats *on the glass* at the old Arena for this game. Let me tell you, I am 40 years old now and never before or since have I ever heard a crowd erupt like this one when the Blues tied the game. Wow! It was NUTS!
I honestly believe that the goal that Joe Mullen scored to make it 5-2 is a shot that a goalie could only stop if it hit him. NO goalie could react in time to stop a one-time shot that was leaned into so heavily & perfectly. One-timers and shots off the pass are the most difficult shots for a goalie to track & when you factor in how close Mullen was to Wamsley when he shot and how fast & hard it left his stick it was almost an automatic goal as long as the puck did not hit the goalie directly
i lived 2 blocks away from the "Arena" at this time....remember this night remarkably! The streets were filled, and the fans were CRAZY!!!!! Incredible night for the Blues and their fans! was SOOOO amazing! GO BLUES!
That paslawski goal to tie is the coolest thing i have ever seen. There is a top 20 all time video on you tube and how that was not top 5 i will never know. Insane-could watch over and over.

2:18 is exactly why im not impressed with many of the goalies from back in the 80s. its not wonder why gretzky netted 50 in 39 games. the game was still awesome back then, but the goalies were just weak. if any goalie tried pulling that shit vernon did nowadays, id pull them so fast it wouldnt be funny. looks like an awesome series though, too bad i wasnt around just yet, haha.
I remember watching this game too and thinking that Calgary was not gonna pull out Game 7. They did, 2-1, and that's a remarkable accomplishment to be able to come back after a loss like this one and still come up big for the deciding game. This seemed like the kind of loss that even an experienced team with older players would not get over.
I remember watching this on ESPN after coming home from work at a Chi-Chi's restaurant. Great layout at the end, the announcers having enough sense to say something like "And there will be a seventh game!" then shutting up for the crowd pans. Two days later, before Game 7, ESPN ran an hour special recap of the game called "The Rebirth of the Blues."
I so wish I was alive when that happened, they were so close to making it to the cup. No one ever gives the Blues credit for what they have done in their past. Only reason why is because they have NEVER WON A CUP. Give them some time, with Perron, Johnson, and Backes. And possibly Alex Petrangelo playing Defense. Their going to be a power house in 3-4 years.
What a comeback! The ol Arena was the best. I'll never forget the Blues/BlackHawks games in the 80s with the crowd yelling Secord Sucks before the game even started.
One of my favorite parts of the video is at 3:44 when they pan back to show the crowd after the game-tying goal by Paslawski. 17,000 going absolutley NUTS!!!
I disagree. I think a lot of people were put off by the lockout and the Laurie's stripping the roster of talent and selling the team. The fan base is regaining trust in the current regime and the atmosphere at the KielSavvisTrade is getting back to what it used to be.
I still get chills. I remember eating my Domino's pizza on the floor in front of the tv - watching the telecast. When Paslawski tied it at 5, I jumped up so quick I spilt my drink all over the place! I'd have given anything to be at the Arena that night. I bet it was deafening.
That was when Blues hockey was awesome; the old barn, getting those $7 seats where that pole blocked most of your view; fights on the ice- fights in the stands! Players would sign autographs after the game.
Now it's just retarded. Corporate jack-offs, $200 for a family of 4 to see a shitty blues team. The players are assholes now, overpaid. You're afraid to cheer too loud because some douche bag in front of you can't hear on her cell phone! Blues Hockey (RIP)
Being from the St.Louis area, this moment will forever live in the hearts and minds of Blues' fans forever. Being a 7 1/2 year old hockey fan in the spring of 1986, I wished I could've been there. Now that I'm older and my love for hockey and the Blues has grown over the years, I appreciate this moment more and more when at the time it happened I don't think I really did. RIP Doug Wickenheiser
I hate to say this, being a saint luos blues fan living in saint louis, but the blues will not win the cup until they can start playing consitantly and when these damn 40+ bastards on the other teams learn how to play the game cleanly (Coffey, Bertuzzi, etc.) and retire because no one wants them around anymore they're washed up
nov. 29, 2000. The blues were down 5-0 with 15:44 left in the game in toronto. They came back and tied it up 5-5 with 26 seconds left, forcing overtime. They scored 17 seconds into overtime to win 6-5. It is the greatest deficit ever overcome in the third period to win the game. calgary also did the same thing in 1989, but they started their comeback with 18:31 left in the game.
An interesting fact: Al Macinnis played in both of these games for the winning team.
Kreege is talking about the Calgary/1989 game. Macinnis played for the '89 Flames, and the 2000 Blues. So yes, he did play for the winning team in both "down 5-0 in the 3rd period" games.
yea kreege i forgot about that one...but that blues team was special with wick,an injured sutter, lavallee off the scrap heep, the list goes on and demers was his last season before detroit...st.louis fan from canada loved kmok with dan kelley...

why is doug gilmour in this video??? we got rid of his ass for molesting his babysitter a year or 2 later and cut all ties with him.....doug gilmour is chester the molester!!!!!!
Great hockey moment, especially since it's the Flames choking, hahaha. I can't wait until St. Louis becomes a contender again, they're a great franchise.
