  • Proud to call him my father.

  • While the comeback vs. Toronto in 2000 was LARGER (came back from a bigger deficit) this was Game 6 of the Conference Finals. Facing Elimination. Down 3 goals with half a period to play. The win put them 1 game away from the Stanley Cup Finals. This is also one season before the Brett Hull era began. I remember hearing about the trade on the radio thinking it ironic that Wamsley and Ramage would be going to the Flames in return for Hull.

  • is it just me, or do the guys on the left at 5:00 kiss each other?

  • Dear St. Doug, ...I say this in jest, but if you could inspire my boss (in a polite way, because I don't want ill will) that I deserve respect in my department (I say this because I was disinvited from the employee bbq & it was MY IDEA). God bless Doug!

  • What music is playing in the background whenever the blues score?

  • long live Doug wickenheiser and what a trade by caron..

  • wow you can feel the energy in that old barn. Love it.

  • Wick the Prick died from AIDS because he fucked guys in the ass.

  • R.I.P. doug Wickenheiser. We loved you so.

  • Is this the game where Carey Fraser was issued a death threat?

  • wow i was just born when this happend...This might be the years blues might have a chance to go to the stanley cup

  • doug wickenheiser is a legend

  • im not even a blues fan...but i remember this game as one of the best...

  • R.I.P Dougy!!! great memory

  • @perishinafire dougy who

  • I've just watched this for the 1,000 time . It still brings a tear to an ole Blues fan...since 1967. I loved Ken Wilson But, how do ya top the greatest hockey announcer of all time...DAN KELLY. Where was this interview of Ken saying how he hated STL. What exactly led to his leaving STL?

  • Does anyone else miss Ken Wilson? I grew up listening to the blues on KMOX and remember how enthusiastic he always was. I wish the Blues would get him back.

  • Definitely. I'd take him over fucking Daron Pang any day.

  • @SimpleMan008 Holy Jumpin!!

  • Ken Wilson was the greatest voice in hockey history and hearing him always brings back memories of the Blues kickin ass.

Unfortunately, in an interview he said that he will never return to Saint Louis, as he despised the town.

  • @jrbilliken034

Have you ever heard of Dan Kelly?

  • great video thanks for posting from SCOTLANDS no1 blues fan . UK.

  • I actually had seats *on the glass* at the old Arena for this game. Let me tell you, I am 40 years old now and never before or since have I ever heard a crowd erupt like this one when the Blues tied the game. Wow! It was NUTS!

  • I honestly believe that the goal that Joe Mullen scored to make it 5-2 is a shot that a goalie could only stop if it hit him. NO goalie could react in time to stop a one-time shot that was leaned into so heavily & perfectly. One-timers and shots off the pass are the most difficult shots for a goalie to track & when you factor in how close Mullen was to Wamsley when he shot and how fast & hard it left his stick it was almost an automatic goal as long as the puck did not hit the goalie directly

  • yea so i was looking for the jets dolphins game.....

  • Same here dude!

  • I know the Wickenheiser children. sweet people (=

  • This had to have been before Ken Wilson's "Oh Baby", because we would have heard it here for sure. I wonder what year he started that practice.

  • i lived 2 blocks away from the "Arena" at this time....remember this night remarkably! The streets were filled, and the fans were CRAZY!!!!! Incredible night for the Blues and their fans! was SOOOO amazing! GO BLUES!

  • That paslawski goal to tie is the coolest thing i have ever seen. There is a top 20 all time video on you tube and how that was not top 5 i will never know. Insane-could watch over and over.

  • One of the best Blues and hockey moments ever.

  • I remember watching this game too and thinking that Calgary was not gonna pull out Game 7. They did, 2-1, and that's a remarkable accomplishment to be able to come back after a loss like this one and still come up big for the deciding game. This seemed like the kind of loss that even an experienced team with older players would not get over.

  • fuck you it's better than gay ass fuckin football and shit. No other game takes more skill than hockey and soccer you.

  • I remember watching this on ESPN after coming home from work at a Chi-Chi's restaurant. Great layout at the end, the announcers having enough sense to say something like "And there will be a seventh game!" then shutting up for the crowd pans. Two days later, before Game 7, ESPN ran an hour special recap of the game called "The Rebirth of the Blues."

  • Perhaps the greatest moment in St. Louis Blues hockey history. May the Wick live on...

  • Greg Paslawski is my dad.

  • I so wish I was alive when that happened, they were so close to making it to the cup. No one ever gives the Blues credit for what they have done in their past. Only reason why is because they have NEVER WON A CUP. Give them some time, with Perron, Johnson, and Backes. And possibly Alex Petrangelo playing Defense. Their going to be a power house in 3-4 years.

  • they would have taken out the habs...

  • What a comeback! The ol Arena was the best. I'll never forget the Blues/BlackHawks games in the 80s with the crowd yelling Secord Sucks before the game even started.

    God Bless Doug Wick #14

  • One of my favorite parts of the video is at 3:44 when they pan back to show the crowd after the game-tying goal by Paslawski. 17,000 going absolutley NUTS!!!

  • I only wonder how great Doug Wickenheiser could have been had that twat Ruel not ruined him in Montreal.

  • Ruel was his coach just in his rookie year. Blame Bob Berry too if anything, if you want to blame someone.

  • Funny how 2 of the Calgary players that year would go on to play many seasons for the Blues and have their numbers retired.

  • man, look at all that fan base and support and life! dont see that anymore at st. louis

  • I disagree. I think a lot of people were put off by the lockout and the Laurie's stripping the roster of talent and selling the team. The fan base is regaining trust in the current regime and the atmosphere at the KielSavvisTrade is getting back to what it used to be.

  • I still get chills. I remember eating my Domino's pizza on the floor in front of the tv - watching the telecast. When Paslawski tied it at 5, I jumped up so quick I spilt my drink all over the place! I'd have given anything to be at the Arena that night. I bet it was deafening.

  • That was when Blues hockey was awesome; the old barn, getting those $7 seats where that pole blocked most of your view; fights on the ice- fights in the stands! Players would sign autographs after the game.

Now it's just retarded. Corporate jack-offs, $200 for a family of 4 to see a shitty blues team. The players are assholes now, overpaid. You're afraid to cheer too loud because some douche bag in front of you can't hear on her cell phone! Blues Hockey (RIP)

  • Man, what a great game. I grew up during the early days of the Blues. Finding clips of Dan Kelly doing PBP brings tears to my eyes.

  • Even better with Ken Wilson on PxP. I like Kerber/Chase, but nothing beat Ken Wilson.

  • Being from the St.Louis area, this moment will forever live in the hearts and minds of Blues' fans forever. Being a 7 1/2 year old hockey fan in the spring of 1986, I wished I could've been there. Now that I'm older and my love for hockey and the Blues has grown over the years, I appreciate this moment more and more when at the time it happened I don't think I really did. RIP Doug Wickenheiser

  • Even if you're not a hockey fan, playoff hockey, esp. overtime playoff hockey, has to send a shiver down your spine.

  • That was a great game! I miss "The old barn".

  • I hate to say this, being a saint luos blues fan living in saint louis, but the blues will not win the cup until they can start playing consitantly and when these damn 40+ bastards on the other teams learn how to play the game cleanly (Coffey, Bertuzzi, etc.) and retire because no one wants them around anymore they're washed up

  • anyone remeber when the blues were down 5-0 in the third and we ended up winning in overtime?

  • no, I remember being down 4-1 start of the 3rd, then 5-2 halfway through the period...

  • He's referring to a more recent game against Toronto.

  • nov. 29, 2000. The blues were down 5-0 with 15:44 left in the game in toronto. They came back and tied it up 5-5 with 26 seconds left, forcing overtime. They scored 17 seconds into overtime to win 6-5. It is the greatest deficit ever overcome in the third period to win the game. calgary also did the same thing in 1989, but they started their comeback with 18:31 left in the game.

An interesting fact: Al Macinnis played in both of these games for the winning team.

  • Comment removed

  • @Messy45948

Kreege is talking about the Calgary/1989 game. Macinnis played for the '89 Flames, and the 2000 Blues. So yes, he did play for the winning team in both "down 5-0 in the 3rd period" games.

  • this team would have taken out the montreal team that season...

  • CLASSIC! sends chills

  • yea kreege i forgot about that one...but that blues team was special with wick,an injured sutter, lavallee off the scrap heep, the list goes on and demers was his last season before detroit...st.louis fan from canada loved kmok with dan kelley...

  • that blues team would have taken out montreal in the final ,just wish they had some gas left in the tank against calgary after that thrilling game 6 with the flames...its too bad they have not been back since that time even thou they have had great teams and great players like hull, oates ,stevens ,macinnis, brown......

  • actually they made it back to the conference finals in the playoffs of the 2000-2001 season but lost in 5 games to the avalanche

  • ken wilson was so freaking awesome! he called a great game all the time!

  • Vancouver is not in this video you dumb Canuck...

  • i forgot about rick meagher what a great 2 way player he was.

  • Thanks for the memories!

  • the blues ruled back then. i hate to say it but they suck now, and there my team.

  • For Blues fans, this is our Stanley Cup...until hell freezes over and we get the real thing.

  • why is doug gilmour in this video??? we got rid of his ass for molesting his babysitter a year or 2 later and cut all ties with him.....doug gilmour is chester the molester!!!!!!

  • Great hockey moment, especially since it's the Flames choking, hahaha. I can't wait until St. Louis becomes a contender again, they're a great franchise.

  • If your not crying your not human !!! LONG LIVE THE CHECKERDOME !!!

  • i love it!

  • any way the kiel/savvis/scottrade center can sound like that? god i miss that place...

  • That crowd went nuts. Totally awesome!

  • I was 12 when this happened... I'll still never forget! What a treat for the Blue Note!

  • I wasnt even born but i am the biggest blues fan so i agree with you
