I cant recall, but it probably took a couple of weeks to get it right when I first learned it.

My only advice to you is to use the metronome to practice it with patience.

If you're referring to my picking technique, it didn't really work out that well for me.

I did hold my pick at an unusual manner and an unusual angle at the time I made this video and I found it was a very inefficient technique which over-exerted the muscles in my arm, I changed my picking technique to Paul Gilbert's.

i've had a teacher through the whole time and i still do.

about practicing, make sure you learn atleast the basic natural and pentatonic scales and practice them with a metronome starting? off really slowly, playing them in an ascending-descending order and then you can play all kinds of exercises on the scales like playing three notes and then descend backwards to one note and then again play three etc...

you should check out some instructional guitar DVD like john petrucci's , paul gilbert's..

and just keep learning and playing solos that are either difficult for you or even above your level, challange yourself.

practice each part slowly with a metronome you gotta have patience, see when I did this solo it was WAY above my level but it came out pretty good much faster than I expected and it happens with every difficult part i try to pull off.

when you pick dont use your arm, just move your hand up and down with your wrist, definetly do check paul gilbert videos and learn some songs with fast legato to tighet up the speed of your fretting hand.

yes, i have changed my picking technique according to paul gilbert's recently, i was unable to pick fast only from my wrist because of the way I held the pick.

now i changed it according to what he showed and it is much more effective and comfortable.

you should have got a basic drum track or got this song in a mix and lowered the guitar volume so its easier to tell that you are actually playing. Its amazing though how you can just play something for hours thats well out of your experience range perhaps but then fuckin nail it on the head.

and yes I got to think about that not long ago when i was wanting to play a solo that's pretty damn hard so i felt like nah...

but then i thought, man when i did the play with me solo it was WAY out of my level but I didn't even care I just practiced it without worrying about wether i'm capable of playing it or not and it came out pretty good.

I think it's a really healthy attitude for every guitarist and i kind of reminded it to myself by reflecting on the matter.

I'm on the fense of its validity but the extreme pinch harmonics that are bent in that one part swayed me to the believer side. It sounds way too different to actually be faked. Good job on the video. Remember, It looks fake but this kids got some chops. If you've only been playing 2 and a half years you literally musty have took pro lessons the whole time or practiced all day every day with a a metronome. So whats your secret?

well i did take guitar lessons the whole time, at the time i still didn't use a metronome and I was very unbalanced in terms of practice.

like before doing this I could play two hours a week but right before recording this video i played ONLY this for like four hours or even more.

right now i've been playing for something in between 4-4.5 years and I've been starting to take my playing more seriously, I try to practice atleast one-two hours a day and always use a metronome.
